This paper considers the robust convergence problem of iterative learning control (ILC) for discrete-time systems in the presence of iteration-varying uncertain plant parameters. If the uncertain parameters all converge along the iteration axis, then the perfect tracking property of ILC can be achieved under certain conditions. Otherwise, the tracking objective of ILC can be achieved within a bound if some of the uncertain parameters are bounded, rather than convergent, along the iteration axis.

The problem of tracking maneuvering point target in optical image sequence using a single sensor is considered in this paper. A morphology based method is proposed to pre-detect target area. This pre-detection begins with expansion of the target area by dilation using a selected rectangle structuring element. Then the target energy is enhanced by frame-addition. Finally, the target area is detected by getting the maximum intensity based on the character of target correlation between frames. Therefore, the conventional uniform distribution of particles over the whole sensor field-of-view is shrunk to the pre-detection target area. The proposed morphology based particle filtering algorithm thus enhances the particles representation. To demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method, it is compared with the particle filter proposed by Salmond. The simulations indicate that desired tracking quality is ensured by narrowing initial particle distribution derived from morphology based pre-detection.

In this paper, we proposed a lightweight approach of hand gesture recognition for appliance control system, which is a new corner based detector with skin detection and foreground extraction. The skin detection is used as a preprocessing segmentation, and motion based foreground extraction for hand segmentation is also applied to make it more accuracy in variation of light condition, contrast between skin and circumstance. After hand segmentation is done, light-weight corner based recognition is used to recognize the meaning of hand gesture. The performance and computational complexity is evaluated at last as well. The experiments shown our approach has the advantages over the conventional hand gesture recognition.

The utilization of the spectrum surrounding 60GHz can be a promising technology for wireless communication systems. This paper investigates the channel estimation problem for wireless systems at 60GHz frequency band with massive receiving antennas. The system model is built up over the massive frequency-selective channels. Moreover, an algorithm is proposed to estimate the large number of channel parameters. It is found that the suggested algorithm works well and can obtain all channel parameters without transmitting large number of training symbols. Finally, simulation results are provided to corroborate our proposed studies.

In this paper, we propose a clustering based multiobjective evolutionary algorithm (CLUMOEA) to deal with the multiobjective optimization problems with irregular Pareto front shapes. CLUMOEA uses a k-means clustering method to discover the population structure by partitioning the solutions into several clusters, and it only allows the solutions in the same cluster to do the reproduction. To reduce the computational cost and balance the exploration and exploitation, the clustering process and evolutionary process are integrated together and they are performed simultaneously. In addition to the clustering, CLUMOEA also uses a distance tournament selection to choose the more similar mating solutions to accelerate the convergence. Besides, a cosine nondominated selection method considering the location and distance information of the solutions are further presented to construct the final population with good diversity. The experimental results show that, compared with some state-of-the-art algorithms, CLUMOEA has significant advantages on dealing with the given test problems with irregular Pareto front shapes.

In this paper, the state estimation problem is investigated for a class of nonlinear stochastic systems with mixed time delays under event-triggered scheme. Based on the proposed event-triggered scheme, the new measurement is sampled and then transmitted to the estimator only when the difference between the current measurement and the previous transmitted measurement is greater than a fixed threshold, thereby reducing the network traffic. Attention is focused on the design problem of the estimator such that the estimation error in mean square is bounded and then minimized. A novel Lyapunov function is employed to derive sufficient condition for the existence of the desired state estimators whose gain matrix can be computed by solving a convex problem. The gain matrix of the estimator is characterized in order that an asymptotic bound of the estimation error is found and subsequently minimized. A numerical simulation is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the results.

Two below-rated feedforward torque control strategies are investigated for a megawatt-scale commercial turbine to regulate rotor speed and reduce turbine structural loads. The investigated regime for this research is the transition region when the turbine is operating just below rated wind speed. In this transition region, the rotor speed has reached its rated value but the generator torque has not. The first of the two controllers designed is a nonlinear feedforward controller that is based on aerodynamic torque balance computed from a light detection and ranging (lidar) measurement and a feedback power measurement from the turbine. A linear disturbance accommodating control (DAC) based torque controller has also been adapted and compared with the nonlinear control strategy. This DAC depends only on the lidar feedforward measurement without using feedback measurement from the turbine. The controllers are verified with a nonlinear FAST turbine model and turbulent wind fields.
