Developing a real-time sentiment analysis application that relies solely on features extracted from images or textual content falls short of capturing human emotions’ nuanced and multifaceted nature. The unlabeled dataset, though useful, has limitations for sentiment analysis due to its general image descriptions, which lack emotional depth and do not include direct sentiment labels. Finding scene sentiment is a challenging task. To address this, combining textual descriptions with visual features is crucial. Important parameters include entropy, bag of words, and parts of speech (nouns, adjectives, and verbs) for textual analysis, alongside visual features like SIFT, SURF, and color histograms. These features are integrated to capture a comprehensive range of sentiment cues, enhancing the accuracy and depth of sentiment insights. This paper proposes an optimized adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system for a compelling feature enhancement using the Whale-Honey Badger Optimization Algorithm (WHBOA). The proposed method identifies the most relevant and effective features from both textual and visual data. It captures visual-specific attributes to provide a richer and more detailed representation of visual content, addressing the limitations of general image descriptions and paving the way for the development of predictive models. Additionally, text pre-processing cleans and normalizes the textual data. We conducted an extensive comparative performance evaluation to assess the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed model. The model is compared with the Nearest Neighbor, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Decision Tree classification algorithms for the performance *** results demonstrate that the optimized model performs better, achieving an accuracy of approximately 91.2%, compared to the other models. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Multiview fuzzy clustering (MVFC) has gained widespread adoption owing to its inherent flexibility in handling ambiguous data. The proliferation of privatization devices has driven the emergence of new challenge in MVFC research works. Federated learning, a technique that can jointly train without directly using raw data, has gain significant attention in decentralized MVFC. However, their applicability depends on the assumptions of data integrity and independence between different views. In fact, while within distributed environments, data typically exhibits two challenging problems: 1) multiple views within a single client;2) incomplete data. Existing methods exhibit limitations in effectively addressing these challenges. Hence, in this study, we aim at achieving the effective clustering for incomplete data by a novel vertical federated MVFC framework. Specifically, a unified clustering framework is designed to capture both local client learning and global server training. For the local client learning, the data reconstruction strategy and prototype alignment strategy are introduced to ensure the preservation of data structure and refinement of clustering relationships, which mitigates the impact of incomplete data. Meanwhile, the global training process implements aggregation based on client-specific information. The whole process is realized based on the unified fuzzy clustering framework, promoting collaborative learning between client-specific and server information. Theoretical analyses and extensive experiments are carefully conducted to validate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method from multiple perspectives. © 1993-2012 IEEE.

The rapid deployment of millions of connected devices brings significant security challenges to the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT devices are typically resource-constrained and designed for specific tasks, from which new security challenges are introduced. As such, IoT device identification has garnered substantial attention and is regarded as an initial layer of cybersecurity. One of the major steps in distinguishing IoT devices involves leveraging machine learning (ML) techniques on device network flows known as device fingerprinting. Numerous studies have proposed various solutions that incorporate ML and feature selection (FS) algorithms with different degrees of accuracy. Yet, the domain needs a comparative analysis of the accuracy of different classifiers and FS algorithms to comprehend their true capabilities in various datasets. This article provides a comprehensive performance evaluation of several reputable classifiers being used in the literature. The study evaluates the efficacy of filter-and wrapper-based FS methods across various ML classifiers. Additionally, we implemented a Binary Green Wolf Optimizer (BGWO) and compared its performance with that of traditional ML classifiers to assess the potential of this binary meta-heuristic algorithm. To ensure the robustness of our findings, we evaluated the effectiveness of each classifier and FS method using two widely utilized datasets. Our experiments demonstrated that BGWO effectively reduced the feature set by 85.11% and 73.33% for datasets 1 and 2, respectively, while achieving classification accuracies of 98.51% and 99.8%, respectively. The findings of this study highlight the strong capabilities of BGWO in reducing both the feature dimensionality and accuracy gained through classification. Audio-visual active speaker detection (AV-ASD) aims to identify which visible face is speaking in a scene with one or more persons. Most existing AV-ASD methods prioritize capturing speech-lip correspondence. However, there is a noticeable gap in addressing the challenges from real-world AV-ASD scenarios. Due to the presence of low-quality noisy videos in such cases, AV-ASD systems without a selective listening ability are short of effectively filtering out disruptive voice components from mixed audio inputs. In this paper, we propose a Multi-modal Speech Extraction-to-Detection framework named ‘MuSED’, which is pre-trained with audio-visual target speech extraction to learn the denoising ability, then it is fine-tuned with the AV-ASD task. Meanwhile, to better capture the multi-modal information and deal with real-world problems such as missing modality, MuSED is modelled on the time domain directly and integrates the multi-modal plus-and-minus augmentation strategy. Our experiments demonstrate that MuSED substantially outperforms the state-of-the-art AV-ASD methods and achieves 95.6% mAP on the AVA-ActiveSpeaker dataset, 98.3% AP on the ASW dataset, and 97.9% F1 on the Columbia AV-ASD dataset, respectively. Blockchain-Based Revocable Key-Aggregate Searchable Encryption for Group data Sharing in Cloud-Assisted Industrial IoT

In the cloud-assisted Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), flexible and secure data sharing promotes industry processes optimization and new products-making. To enable selective data retrieval over categorized data collected by IoT devices in the encryption domain, key-aggregate searchable encryption (KASE) is adopted for group data sharing in Industrial IoT due to efficient management of encryption keys. Nonetheless, existing solutions rarely consider user revocation property and suffered from the following limitations: (i) the user revocation needs interaction process between data owner and cloud;(ii) the non-revoked users may be accidentally revoked. Therefore, we propose a blockchain-based revocable KASE system (BC-RKASE) that achieves non-interactive user revocation and trusted revoked user management. Technically, the result is non-trivially obtained from revisiting the generation of aggregate keys and key updates via secret sharing, along with re-designing trapdoor adjustment and providing public verifiable proof for key updates by public blockchain. Besides formal security analysis, we conduct extensive experiments in a real cloud environment and thin IoT devices (Raspberry Pi) using a public IIoT dataset to confirm the practical performance of BC-RKASE. In particular, BC-RKASE outperforms state-of-the-art schemes with 13.4×~15× time efficiency accelerating for data retrieval and runs more than 16× faster for user revocation. © 2025 IEEE.

The classification of various lung diseases with the help of chest X-ray images is one of the significant and challenging issues in medical imaging applications. This work proposes a transfer learning-based deep neural network architecture to classify lung diseases using a publicly available dataset. The proposed DenseNet201 model uses the interconnected structure to optimize feature transmission, minimize computation redundancy, and improve the gradient flow. The proposed model achieved a better classification accuracy of 98.34% compared to the other existing methods. These results show that DenseNet201 effectively learns discriminative features from the input medical image data. The proposed framework is suitable for large-scale implementation of lung disease classification. It helps develop more efficient computer-aided diagnostic systems, assisting clinicians in decision-making. © 2025 IEEE.

Geometric features derived from single static images have the potential to be highly effective for facial emotion analysis, as shape, structure, and spatial relationships are key factors. However, these aspects are rarely explored in existing research. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that utilizes Genetic Programming (GP) to automatically extract geometric features for more effective emotional representation. The proposed GP system uses various evaluation strategies, evolving either a single feature per run or multiple features within a single run. These GP-evolved features capture critical angular and distance-based relationships between facial landmarks, which are then integrated with an existing deep learning model to enhance performance. The results show that the proposed method achieves improved performance in dimensional emotion analysis, providing a more comprehensive understanding of emotional expressions in static images. In addition, our approach is effective in improving the accuracy of emotion predictions, establishing a foundation for more precise facial emotion analysis using geometric information. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) expands the capabilities of large language models (LLMs) in various applications by integrating relevant information retrieved from external data sources. However, the RAG systems are exposed to substantial privacy risks during the information retrieval process, leading to potential data leakage of private information. In this work, we present a Privacy-preserving Retrieval-augmented generation via Embedding Space Shifting (PRESS), systematically exploring how to protect privacy in RAG systems. Specifically, we first conduct proximal policy optimization (PPO) based training on pre-trained language models to generate target training samples. Then we employ a purposive shift fine-tuning on the text embedding model with the generated samples for guiding the RAG system to map potential privacy leaking queries to safe target in embedding space. Extensive experimental results on representative models and datasets demonstrate that our protection method achieves high defense performance with high efficiency while keeping the normal functionality of the RAG system. © 2025 IEEE.

TrapNet: Model Inversion Defense via Trapdoor

Model inversion (MI) attacks, for which effective defense strategies are still lacking, pose significant risks to privacy by reconstructing private training data through access to well-trained classifiers. Addressing this concern, this study introduces TrapNet, designed to defend against advanced MI attacks while maintaining good model utility. TrapNet intentionally injects trapdoors into the classification manifold of the protected target model. In this way, TrapNet can effectively mislead MI attack optimization. Specifically, TrapNet leverages a conditional GAN (cGAN) trained on the private dataset to generate diverse and realistic trapdoor samples. In addition, we propose a graph-matching self-obfuscation strategy and an entropy regularization technique to optimize trapdoor injection while preserving model utility. Compared to the existing defense, TrapNet can provide universal protection to all target classes without access to any auxiliary public data. Extensive experiments on CelebA, VGG-Face, and VGG-Face2 datasets demonstrate TrapNet’s superior performance over existing defenses, including the most advanced NetGuard and BiDO, against state-of-the-art model inversion attacks, i.e., PLG-MI, LOMMA, and Plug&Play. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

This paper is about identifying the contributing socio-economic indicators that affect the Gross Domestic Product Per Capita of India with historical data from 1960 to 2021 and build a methodology to predict the Gross Domestic Product per capita based on the contributing factors. To predict India's GDP per capita, an ensemble prediction was used, which included Support Vector Regression (SVR), the Extreme Gradient Boosting Model, and the ARIMA Model. It is critical to forecast GDP per capita and its influencing factors for better policy formulation, resource allocation, risk management, investment decisions, long-term planning, social welfare, and other purposes. This paper could contribute to encouraging long-term economic growth and improve citizens' quality of life. The findings of this paper provide an in-depth understanding of the intricate relationship between socioeconomic indicators and Gross Domestic Product in India. © 2025 IEEE.
