We introduce a novel framework for analyzing reinforcement learning (RL) in continuous state-action spaces, and use it to prove fast rates of convergence in both off-line and on-line settings. Our analysis highlights two key stability properties, relating to how changes in value functions and/or policies affect the Bellman operator and occupation measures. We argue that these properties are satisfied in many continuous state-action Markov decision processes. Our analysis also offers fresh perspectives on the roles of pessimism and optimism in off-line and on-line RL.

Due to its open-source nature, Android operating system has been the main target of attackers to exploit. Malware creators always perform different code obfuscations on their apps to hide malicious activities. Features extracted from these obfuscated samples through program analysis contain many useless and disguised features, which leads to many false negatives. To address the issue, in this paper, we demonstrate that obfuscation-resilient malware family analysis can be achieved through contrastive learning. The key insight behind our analysis is that contrastive learning can be used to reduce the difference introduced by obfuscation while amplifying the difference between malware and other types of malware. Based on the proposed analysis, we design a system that can achieve robust and interpretable classification of Android malware. To achieve robust classification, we perform contrastive learning on malware samples to learn an encoder that can automatically extract robust features from malware samples. To achieve interpretable classification, we transform the function call graph of a sample into an image by centrality analysis. Then the corresponding heatmaps can be obtained by visualization techniques. These heatmaps can help users understand why the malware is classified as this family. We implement IFDroid and perform extensive evaluations on two datasets. Experimental results show that IFDroid is superior to state-of-the-art Android malware familial classification systems. Deep learning is a powerful multi-layer architecture that has important applications in image processing and text classification. This paper first introduces the development of deep learning and two important algorithms of deep learning: convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks. The paper then introduces three applications of deep learning for image recognition, image detection, and image forensics, as well as three text classification methods based on convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, and other text classification methods. Finally, the development trend of deep learning in the field of text and image processing and the difficulties to be further researched are summarised and prospected.

To address the problem of high delay due to the explosive growth of mobile data traffic in consumer electronics network (CEN), in this paper, we investigate the multiple-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled CEN content caching problem, focusing on minimizing content access delay by jointly optimizing UAV deployment, ground user (GU) access, and content caching while satisfying other resource constraints. We propose an algorithm based on alternating optimization for the scenario where multiple UAVs and base station (BS) collaborate to provide caching services. The algorithm attains a sub-optimal solution with a convergence guarantee by iteratively solving the three sub-problems derived from the decomposition of the target problem. First, a convex difference-based algorithm solves the UAV deployment sub-problem. Second, a greedy-based algorithm is used to solve the content caching sub-problem. Then, a continuous convex approximation algorithm based on the penalty function is used to solve the user access sub-problem. Finally, the above procedure is repeated to obtain a sub-optimal solution to the target problem. The proposed joint optimization algorithm is shown to outperform the benchmark algorithms in terms of average content access delay and cache hit ratio, as evidenced by numerical results. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

A growing number of applications are moving to serverless architectures for high elasticity and fine-grained billing. For stateful applications, however, the use of serverless architectures is likely to lead to significant performance degradation, as frequent data sharing between different execution stages involves time-consuming remote storage access. Current platforms leverage memory cache to speed up remote access. However, conventional caching strategies show limited performance improvement. We experimentally find that the reason is that current strategies overlook the stage-dependent access patterns of stateful serverless applications, i.e., data that are read multiple times across stages (denoted as multi-read data) are wrongly evicted by data that are read only once (denoted as read-once data), causing a high cache miss ***, we propose a new caching strategy, Duo, whose design principle is to cache multi-read data as long as possible. Specifically, Duo contains a large cache list and a small cache list, which act as Leader list and Wingman list, respectively. Leader list ignores the data that is read for the first time to prevent itself from being polluted by massive read-once data at each stage. Wingman list inspects the data that are ignored or evicted by Leader list, and pre-fetches the data that will probably be read again based on the observation that multi-read data usually appear periodically in groups. Compared to the state-of-the-art works, Duo improves hit ratio by 1.1×-2.1× and reduces the data sharing overhead by 25%-62%.

The aim of this paper, is to gain insights in to dynamics of Kabaddi. This sport has become increasingly popular, by analyzing teams’ performance in national leagues. To do so, the results of each round of matches the participating teams play are used to create a dissimilarity matrix. This matrix is then processed through two algorithms, A visualization of the outcomes of each team was achieved by the utilization of novel dimensionality techniques. This novel approach for dimensionality reduction enables the teams’ performance to be represented in a lower-dimensional manner, facilitating the visualization of complex data connections. The t-SNE algorithm, on the other hand, captures the non-linear relationships in the teams’ performance. This study attempts to discover crucial characteristics that impact team performance and give a greater knowledge of the dynamics of the sport by comparing the findings acquired using a novel dimensionality reduction technique. The data for this study comes from the Kabaddi season that took place during 2017-2018.

Digital agriculture—the use of technology in agricultural practices—plays an integral role in agricultural research, with the potential to improve crop yield, disease resilience, and long-term soil health. However, it raises privacy concerns and risks, such as adverse pricing, price discrimination, increased insurance costs, and manipulation of essential agricultural resources. These concerns deter farm owners and operators from sharing their data because it could be used against them. This study addresses the need for privacy-preserving frameworks that enables secure data sharing for digital agriculture practices. We propose a privacy-preserving framework designed to mitigate privacy risks while enabling comprehensive data analysis. The proposed tool allows the agricultural community to benefit from research driven policy making that establishes meaningful connections across public and private digital agriculture datasets. Our privacy-preserving algorithm behind the framework can be used to: (i) identify similar farmers based on specified attributes using multiple private datasets, (ii) provide aggregate information such as time and location, (iii) determine price and availability trends of target products, and (iv) correlate these trends with relevant public policy databases, such as food insecurity data, without compromising privacy. We validate the framework using real-life datasets from Farmer’s Market. Also, we demonstrate the framework’s efficacy and practicality by training various machine learning models on linked privacy-preserved private and public data. The numerical experiments showcase how the framework can support policymakers and researchers in implementing digital agriculture related to food insecurity and pricing. Our work addresses critical privacy concerns, thereby facilitating more effective and secure agricultural research. Deep Joint Source-Channel Coding (JSCC) has gained increased attention, asserting its significance in the communication field. However, existing Deep JSCC techniques struggle to mitigate time-varying noise due to the deep neural networks being trained beforehand and fixed. To address this issue, we propose a robust deep JSCC scheme. Firstly, a multi-network parallel structure, as well as error-correcting codes, is introduced to effectively exploit label information. Secondly, a closed-form linear encoder and decoder pair is employed at the input and output ends of the channel to deal with the varying noise, which releases the neural network from dealing with a large range of varying noise levels. Thirdly, a transfer learning algorithm is utilized for estimating real-time noise statistics, which outperforms conventional estimation methods when noise statistics are time-dependent. These three components are effectively integrated as a comprehensive transmission system. Experimental results demonstrate that our optimized scheme outperforms existing approaches in the literature.

Optical intelligent reflecting surface (OIRS) offers a new and effective approach to resolving the line-of-sight blockage issue in visible light communication (VLC) by enabling redirection of light to bypass obstacles, thereby dramatically enhancing indoor VLC coverage and reliability. This article provides a comprehensive overview of OIRS for VLC, including channel modeling, design techniques, and open issues. First, we present the characteristics of OIRS-reflected channels and introduce two practical models, namely, optics model and association model, which are then compared in terms of applicable conditions, configuration methods, and channel parameters. Next, under the more practically appealing association model, we discuss the main design techniques for OIRS-aided VLC systems, including beam alignment, channel estimation, and OIRS reflection optimization.
