Strategies for classifying water quality in the Cauvery River using a federated learning technique

Artificial intelligence methods are emerging techniques used in the field of environmental protection, especially in the analysis of air, water, and soil quality. AI analyzes vast amounts of environmental data to predict pollution and provide decision-makers with the information they need to develop efficient policies. One of the most important problems in environmental analysis is data security, and many organizations are actively working to ensure the secure collection, storage, and utilization of sensitive environmental data. In addition, organizations are focusing on developing strategies to protect their data from malicious attacks, such as cyber-attacks, as well as from accidental misuses, like unauthorized access. For this purpose, we have introduced a novel water quality prediction using the Federated Learning Technique. Federated learning enables multiple parties to collaborate and train a model on their local data without sharing it with others, thereby preserving data privacy. The proposed method is applied to a Cauvery River dataset of water quality parameters, and the results demonstrate that the PSO-optimized federated learning process achieves better prediction accuracy of 87%, a precision of 85%, a recall of 93%, and an 89% F1 score. © 2023

Leukemia, a malignant disease characterized by the rapid proliferation of specific types of white blood cells (WBC), has prompted increased interest in leveraging automatic WBC classification system. This study presents the design of a robust WBC classification system, integrating deep learning with microscopic image analysis. The proposed classification model is designed to categorize blood cells into four distinct groups: eosinophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, and neutrophil. The study employs a Kaggle image dataset for comprehensive learning. The dataset comprises 12,500 microscopic images used to categorize the four blood cell groups. To enhance performance and reduce the likelihood of overfitting, transfer learning techniques are employed. Six deep transfer learning models namely VGG16, ResNet50, AlexNet, MobileNet, GoogLeNet, and EfficientNetBO are used for feature extraction and classification. The results of the experiments show that VGG16 and MobileNet demonstrated enhancements compared to other pre-trained models when evaluated on both augmented and original datasets. A diverse set of evaluation criteria was employed to thoroughly assess the effectiveness of medical image classification. Notably, the VGG16 and MobileNet models accurately predicted Lymphocytes and Monocytes with a 100% accuracy rate, and Eosinophil and Neutrophil with rates of 99.35% and 99.81%, respectively. This research work empower medical practitioners, particularly in the field of pathology and hematology by providing advanced tools for accurate blood cell classification. The proposed VGG16 and MobileNet models hold promise for simplifying WBC classification, improving decision-making processes, and ultimately advancing patient care in the medical domain. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Predicting water quality is essential to preserving human health and environmental sustainability. Traditional water quality assessment methods often face scalability and real-time monitoring limitations. With accuracies of 62%, 72%, 83%, 69%, 63%, 66%, 71%, 63%, and 64%, respectively, the current techniques utilized were Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forest Regressor, Extreme Gradient Boosting, Naive Bayes, K-nearest neighbors, Support Vector Machine, AdaBoost, and Bagging [9]. This study addresses these challenges by leveraging Adaptive Synthetic Sampling (ADASYN) to balance the dataset and evaluating model performance on datasets of 5,000 and 10,000 entries per class. A robust dataset obtained from Kaggle was used, with five models – Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Feed Forward Neural Network (FFNN), Categorical Boosting (CatBoost), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and Random Forest – evaluated and compared. The proposed methods demonstrate significant improvements in accuracy, with XGBoost achieving the highest accuracy of 95.53%, followed by Random Forest at 93.98%. This work underscores the importance of advanced machine learning techniques in addressing the limitations of traditional methods, enhancing accuracy, scalability, and adaptability in water quality prediction. These findings contribute to advancing environmental monitoring and management practices with reliable, data-driven insights. © 2025 IEEE.

A dandelion algorithm(DA) is a recently developed intelligent optimization algorithm for function optimization problems. Many of its parameters need to be set by experience in DA,which might not be appropriate for all optimization problems. A self-adapting and efficient dandelion algorithm is proposed in this work to lower the number of DA's parameters and simplify DA's structure. Only the normal sowing operator is retained;while the other operators are discarded. An adaptive seeding radius strategy is designed for the core dandelion. The results show that the proposed algorithm achieves better performance on the standard test functions with less time consumption than its competitive peers. In addition, the proposed algorithm is applied to feature selection for credit card fraud detection(CCFD), and the results indicate that it can obtain higher classification and detection performance than the-state-of-the-art methods.

The proposed work objective is to adapt Online social networking (OSN) is a type of interactive computer-mediated technology that allows people to share information through virtual networks. The microblogging feature of Twitter makes cyberspace prominent (usually accessed via the dark web). The work used the datasets and considered the Scrape Twitter Data (Tweets) in Python using the SN-Scrape module and Twitter 4j API in JAVA to extract social data based on hashtags, which is used to select and access tweets for dataset design from a profile on the Twitter platform based on locations, keywords, and hashtags. The experiments contain two datasets. The first dataset has over 1700 tweets with a focus on location as a keypoint (hacking-for-fun data, cyber-violence data, and vulnerability injector data), whereas the second dataset only comprises 370 tweets with a focus on reposting of tweet status as a keypoint. The method used is focused on a new system model for analysing Twitter data and detecting terrorist attacks. The weights of susceptible keywords are found using a ternary search by the Aho-Corasick algorithm (ACA) for conducting signature and pattern matching. The result represents the ACA used to perform signature matching for assigning weights to extracted words of tweet. ML is used to evaluate Twitter data for classifying patterns and determining the behaviour to identify if a person is a terrorist. SVM (Support Vector Machine) proved to be a more accurate classifier for predicting terrorist attacks compared to other classifiers (KNN- K-Nearest Neighbour and NB-Naïve Bayes). The 1st dataset shows the KNN-Acc. -98.38% and SVM Accuracy as 98.85%, whereas the 2nd dataset shows the KNN-Acc. -91.68% and SVM Accuracy as 93.97%. The proposed work concludes that the generated weights are classified (cyber-violence, vulnerability injector, and hacking-for-fun) for further feature classification. All-in-one Weather-degraded Image Restoration via Adaptive Degradation-aware Self-prompting Model

Existing approaches for all-in-one weather-degraded image restoration suffer from inefficiencies in leveraging degradation-aware priors, resulting in sub-optimal performance in adapting to different weather conditions. To this end, we develop an adaptive degradation-aware self-prompting model (ADSM) for all-in-one weather-degraded image restoration. Specifically, our model employs the contrastive language-image pre-training model (CLIP) to facilitate the training of our proposed latent prompt generators (LPGs), which represent three types of latent prompts to characterize the degradation type, degradation property and image caption. Moreover, we integrate the acquired degradation-aware prompts into the time embedding of diffusion model to improve degradation perception. Meanwhile, we employ the latent caption prompt to guide the reverse sampling process using the cross-attention mechanism, thereby guiding the accurate image reconstruction. Furthermore, to accelerate the reverse sampling procedure of diffusion model and address the limitations of frequency perception, we introduce a wavelet-oriented noise estimating network (WNE-Net). Extensive experiments conducted on eight publicly available datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach in both task-specific and all-in-one applications. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

Network security status assessment is a critical research area. Traditional methods like Dempster-Shafer evidence theory and Bayesian algorithms have limitations such as device specificity and low data dimensionality. Machine learning algorithms, while promising, are often limited by poor generalizability and data source dependence. This paper introduces a novel multi-source feature fusion evaluation system based on denoising deep autoencoder (DAE) networks. The system employs a three-step approach: (1) feature extraction from diverse data sources using denoising DAE, (2) linear feature fusion via concatenation, and (3) network security situation analysis and prediction with a random forest model. The overall network security situation is calculated by integrating attack probability and impact. Our system outperforms three existing methods, including the backpropagation neural network, with an accuracy rate of 94.96%. This suggests that our multi-source feature fusion approach provides a more robust and accurate method for network security status evaluation.

Enabling technology Integrated Learning for Autistic Children Using Augmented Reality Based Cognitive Rehabilitation

Augmented reality (AR)-based rehabilitation is an excellent teaching tool (ICT tool) for simulating daily activities for autistic children. Children with autism may become more mentally capable with this type of AR-based rehabilitation. It is intended to observe the children's performance in terms of concentration, attention, and identification. The observation has been done through placards as a target image to display the 3D objects on a mobile phone or tablet. In this project, observations are made for 21 autism children in the age group of 7–14, out of whom 17 are boys and 5 are girls. Those 21 children are given practice identifying 15 different objects in an augmented reality environment. Their performance was initially evaluated using conventional instructional techniques. The majority of the kids were having more difficulty identifying things during that observation. Then, with an Augmented Reality environment, the identical observation has been made once more. Using a mobile device or tablet, the 3D objects from the provided placard photos are produced in an augmented reality environment with animation and voice in the languages of English and Tamil. Children with autism are able to recognize and also grasp the behaviors of those objects while viewing them in 3D. Their efforts are measured using a two-point scale (0, 1, 2). The pre-assessment and post-assessment reports for the above observations are tabulated. All the observations are made in the presence of the special education teacher (therapist). However, the children observed in this project fall into three different categories: mild, moderate, and severe. In the Mild category, statistical significance is evident with p values of 0.002 in pre-assessment and 0.014 in post-assessment. Likewise, in the Moderate category, where p values are 0.023 in pre-assessment and 0.033 in post-assessment, significance is observed, as all p values fall below the chosen significance level of 0.05.
