Although some efforts have been made to endow description logics with default reasoning capabilities, we hardly heard about the considerable attention to the preference of default rules in extended description logic. This paper makes a new prioritized default extension to the description logic knowledge base for default reasoning. Introducing and prioritizing default rules, it provides the mathematic foundation for querying information from original incomplete description logic knowledge base. Thus, a complete information query based on the integrated systems with default information can boil down to checking default satisfiability of the complex concept.

Due to memory bandwidth limitations and computational complexity considerations in hardware implementations, block matching combined with lscr 1 error norm and translational motion model is preferred in motion-estimation algorithms. Performance of this scheme is degraded by noise, compression artifacts, rotation, repeating structures, motion boundaries, zooming, and brightness changes. In this work, we present a Bayesian approach to incorporate prior information into block matching. Hypothesis testing is utilized to choose the most applicable prior motion vector and to compute a prior motion-vector distribution and its precision. Prior distribution is then updated with motion-vector likelihood derived from pixel data to obtain the posterior distribution, which is maximized via a search on the feasible motion-vector space.

An incidence coloring of graph G is a coloring of its incidences in which neighborly incidences are assigned di erent colors. In this paper, the incidence coloring of outerplanar graphs is discussed using the techniques of exchanging colors and the double inductions from the aspect of con guration property. Results show that there exists a (D + 2,2)-incidence coloring in every outerplanar graph, where D is the maximum degree of outerplanar graph.

Semantic based queries are greatly paid attention to because its aim is to help users to find what they really want. In this paper, we proposed an efficient hybrid model for distributed semantic queries based on open distributed environments. Meanwhile, a feasible ranking strategy based on semantic overlap is introduced to rank answering results of semantic queries from multiple sources. Multi-agent technologies can be successfully applied to develop our case system across multiple and distributed ontologies. The experimental evaluations show that our approximate model is efficient to perform semantic query tasks in heterogenous environments.

After the modification of the fuzzy ART neural network operations, An algorithm based on fuzzy ART neural network which can deal with online-learning and recognition of the known and unknown faces at the same time is designed and realized. The simulation experiment results show an online maximum recognition rate is 86.3％ and offline recognition rates are nearly 100％ when the proper network parameters are selected. 400 images of 40 persons in the publicly available AT&T face database are used for simulation experiment.

This article gives a capsule view of research on rough set theory and applications ongoing at universities and laboratories in China. Included in this capsule view of rough set research is a brief description of the following things: Chinese research groups on rough set with their URLs for web pages, names of principal researchers (supervisors), numbers of graduate students, and topics being investigated. Statistical summaries showing the growth in the research on rough set theory and application in China are included. In addition, an introduction summarizing the research interests of Chinese researchers is included in this article. Inspired by Weber's Law, this paper proposes a simple, yet very powerful and robust local descriptor, Weber Local Descriptor (WLD). It is based on the fact that human perception of a pattern depends on not only the change of a stimulus (such as sound, lighting, et al.) but also the original intensity of the stimulus. Specifically, WLD consists of two components: its differential excitation and orientation. A differential excitation is a function of the ratio between two terms: One is the relative intensity differences of its neighbors against a current pixel;the other is the intensity of the current pixel. An orientation is the gradient orientation of the current pixel. For a given image, we use the differential excitation and the orientation components to construct a concatenated WLD histogram feature. Experimental results on Brodatz textures show that WLD impressively outperforms the other classical descriptors (e.g., Gabor). Especially, experimental results on face detection show a promising performance. Although we train only one classifier based on WLD features, the classifier obtains a comparable performance to state-of-the-art methods on MIT+CMU frontal face test set, AR face dataset and CMU profile test set.

Supply chain management (SCM) is an emerging field that has commanded attention and support from the industrial community. Demand forecast taking inventory into consideration is an important issue in SCM. This paper presents a novel computerized system for implementing the forecasting activities required in SCM. It can help the supply chain enterprises find hidden forms, trends and relationships in the date of supply chain by the dynamic fractal dimension of fractal theory, find that dynamic fractal dimension not only can overcome the delay of the existing technical analysis on the price forecasts, and but also can instruct the supply chain product prices in advance.

Recently, combining a video recording of a presentation along with the digital slides used in it has become popular in e-learning and presentation of archives. For users of the archives, it is useful to preview a digest of such content to grasp the atmosphere and/or an outline of the presentation. This paper proposes a method of automatic digest generation by extracting important scenes from the presentation content. The extracted scenes are chosen based on several factors such as frequency and specificity of words, scene duration and order. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed methods are evaluated by comparing with testers' answer sets for actual lectures.

A self-learning model based on Genetic Algorithms is put forward with application to path tracking in computer Generated Forces (CGF). On the basis of Agent, the model is constructed to improve the autonomous performance of CGF entities under path tracking environments. First, the framework of the proposed self-learning model is presented. Second, it elaborates the realization, including the principles of condition and action parts of the rule, and the fitness function design. Finally, the parameters and the generalization ability are analyzed in detail. A visible validation system is established to verify the availability and feasibility of the presented self-learning model.
