Concerns have been growing over fake news and its impact. software that can automatically detect fake news is becoming more popular. However, the accuracy and reliability of such fake-news detection software remains questionable, partly due to a lack of testing and verification. Testing this kind of software may face the oracle problem, which refers to difficulty (or inability) of identifying the correctness of the software’s output in a reasonable amount of time. Metamorphic testing (MT) has a record of effectively alleviating the oracle problem, and has been successfully applied to testing fake-news detection software. This paper reports on a study, extending previous work, exploring the use of MT for fake-news detection software. The study includes new metamorphic relations and additional experimental results and analysis. Some alternative MR-generation approaches are also explored. The study targets software where the output is a real/fake news decision, enhancing the applicability of MT to current fake-news detection software. The paper also explores the impact of the prediction accuracy of the fake-news detection software on the MT process. The study demonstrates the validity and applicability of MT to fake-news detection software. The prediction accuracy of the software has a greater impact on MT experiments with greater changes between the source and follow-up inputs, and less dependence on prediction stability. Some possible factors affecting the experimental results are discussed, and directions for future work are provided.

The traditional bag-of-visual-words (BOW) model quantifies the local features to the visual words to achieve efficient content-based image retrieval. However, since it causes considerable quantisation error and ignores the spatial relationships between visual words, the accuracy of partial-duplicate image retrieval based on BOW model is limited. In order to reduce the quantisation error and improve the discriminability of visual words, many partial-duplicate image retrieval methods have been proposed, which make use of the advantages of the geometric clues between visual words. In this paper, we propose a novel partial-duplicate scheme by using both spatial and visual contextual clues for removing the false matches effectively, which not only encodes the relationships of orientation, distance and dominant orientation between the referential visual word and its context, but also takes the colour information between visual words into consideration. Experimental results reveal that our proposed algorithm achieves superior performance to the state-of-the-art methods for partial-duplicate image retrieval. A novel quantum visual secret sharing scheme

Inspired by Naor et al.’s visual secret sharing (VSS) scheme, a novel n out of n quantum visual secret sharing (QVSS) scheme is proposed, which consists of two phases: sharing process and recovering process. In the first process, the color information of each pixel from the original secret image is encoded into an n-qubit superposition state by using the strategy of quantum expansion instead of classical pixel expansion, and then these n qubits are distributed as shares to n participants, respectively. During the recovering process, all participants cooperate to collect these n shares of each pixel together, then perform the corresponding measurement on them, and execute the n-qubit XOR operation to recover each pixel of the secret image. The proposed scheme has the advantage of single-pixel parallel processing that is not available in the existing analogous quantum schemes, and perfectly solves the problem that in the classic VSS schemes the recovered image has the loss in resolution. In order to reduce the energy consumption of nodes and prolong the lifetime of indoor wireless sensor network nodes, it is necessary to establish an optimal bit error rate model under multiple indoor influencing factors so as to maximize the efficiency of receiving and receiving signals. Based on the researching of relationship between indoor factors such as wall and floor reflection, obstacle shadow fading, channel error rate and energy consumption of node signal transceiver and receiver, the energy consumption model of node single frame transmission is given, it is also proved that there exists an optimal bit error rate to minimize the energy consumption of nodes under the condition of co-channel coding. Finally, the simulation experiments are carried out to further analyze and verify the energy consumption of node. The results show that even if the indoor signal interference factors are complex, the minimum energy consumption of receiving and receiving nodes can be found by optimizing the bit error rate adjustment, which shows that the optimization model has engineering application value. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2020.

A unitary weights based one-iteration quantum perceptron algorithm for non-ideal training sets

In order to solve the problem of non-ideal training sets (i.e., the less-complete or over-complete sets) and implement one-iteration learning, a novel efficient quantum perceptron algorithm based on unitary weights is proposed, where the singular value decomposition of the total weight matrix from the training set is calculated to make the weight matrix to be unitary. The example validation of quantum gates {H, S, T, CNOT, Toffoli, Fredkin} shows that our algorithm can accurately implement arbitrary quantum gates within one iteration. The performance comparison between our algorithm and other quantum perceptron algorithms demonstrates the advantages of our algorithm in terms of applicability, accuracy, and availability. For further validating the applicability of our algorithm, a quantum composite gate which consists of several basic quantum gates is also illustrated. © 2023, CC BY.

In recent years, blockchain-based data trading platforms have gained great popularity in many fields because blockchain is decentralized, transparent, antitamper, and traceable. However, data trading for medical images still has problems such as privacy protection and copyright protection, so we propose a blockchain-based data trading scheme for medical images with copyright and privacy protection. Our scheme utilizes smart contracts in the blockchain to achieve automation and intelligence of data trading. We also combine digital watermarking and image encryption to further solve copyright, secure transmission, and privacy issues during medical image transactions. We conduct relevant experiments and verify the feasibility of our proposed scheme.

The maximum clique (MC) problem holds significance in network analysis. Quantum-based algorithms have recently emerged as promising approaches for this problem. However, these algorithms heavily depend on parameters of quantum system and vary significantly for different graphs. In order to tackle this issue, we initially demonstrate that continuous-time quantum walks (CTQW) driven by the Seidel matrix offer valuable insights into the clique structure of graphs, outperforming the CTQW driven by adjacency matrix. Specifically, we conduct an in-depth analysis for CTQW of 4 types of graphs, meticulously calculating the amplitudes associated with different vertices. Our findings consistently reveal that vertices belonging to MC exhibit the highest intensity at the largest frequency component of the probability amplitude for these types of graphs. Considering the varying intensities, we propose a parameter-independent algorithm for determining the MC. We compare our algorithm with a typical quantum-based algorithm, the results indicate that our algorithm exhibits greater stability. © 2024 The Authors
