This paper proposes a robust real-time artificial landmarks detection and recognition system for indoor mobile robot. Landmarks detection and recognition for indoor robots faces two major difficulties, one is the illumination changes and the other is processing speed. In this paper, first, histograms of oriented gradient (HOG) features are extracted to resolve the problem of illumination changes. Second, AdaBoost based algorithm is used in detection phase to increase the processing speed. Finally, RBF-SVM classifier is used for recognition. Experimental results show a high detection and recognition accuracy and the processing speed is about 10 frames per second.

A novel quantum visual secret sharing scheme

Inspired by Naor et al.’s visual secret sharing (VSS) scheme, a novel n out of n quantum visual secret sharing (QVSS) scheme is proposed, which consists of two phases: sharing process and recovering process. In the first process, the color information of each pixel from the original secret image is encoded into an n-qubit superposition state by using the strategy of quantum expansion instead of classical pixel expansion, and then these n qubits are distributed as shares to n participants, respectively. During the recovering process, all participants cooperate to collect these n shares of each pixel together, then perform the corresponding measurement on them, and execute the n-qubit XOR operation to recover each pixel of the secret image. The proposed scheme has the advantage of single-pixel parallel processing that is not available in the existing analogous quantum schemes, and perfectly solves the problem that in the classic VSS schemes the recovered image has the loss in resolution. Hybrid neural network model application in annual precipitation forecast

When applied to precipitation forecasting, the mean generating function - optimal subset regression (MGF-OSR) model is limited by its low accuracy and high error, while the back propagation (BP) neural network model has difficulty in learning for matrix selection. This paper proposes a new MGF-OSR-BP model, which uses a MGF to extend original data, an OSR to select the best series as the BP neural network input node and learning matrix, and the resultant data for training. The training procedure determines the number of hidden layers and uses an optimal number of hidden layers for model training. This paper uses the MGF-OSR-BP model to analyze precipitation data from Hangzhou, China, for 53 years, from 1956 to 2008. The 1956-2006 precipitation data are used as the training sample, and the 2007-2008 data are used as the test set data to verify the practicality of the forecast system. A fitting verification is performed using the forecasted data against field measurement data, and the results show that the forecast accuracy is better than that of the MGF-OSR model or the MGF stepwise multiple regression model.

Research on short-term wind farm output power prediction model based on meteorological data collected by WSN

The prediction of wind farm output power is considered as an effective way to increase the wind power capacity and improve the safety and economy of power system. It is one of the hot research topics on wind power. The wind farm output power is related to many factors such as wind speed, temperature, etc., which is difficult to be described by some mathematical expression. In this paper, Back Propagation (BP) neural network algorithm and genetic algorithm (GA) are combined to establish the prediction model of the short-term wind farm output power based on meteorological data collected by Wireless Sensor network (WSN). The Meteorological data is used to determine the input variables of the BP neural network. Meanwhile, the GA is used to adjust the value of BP's connection weight and threshold dynamically. Then the trained BP neural network is used to predict the wind power. The experiment results show that our method has better prediction capability compared with that using BP neural network alone or using wind power formulas. © 2013 SERSC.

In this study, a novel multiparty quantum sealed-bid auction protocol using the single photons as the message carrier of bids is proposed, followed by an example of three-party auction. Compared with those protocols based on the entangled states (GHZ state, EPR pairs, etc.), the present protocol is more economic and feasible within present technology. In order to guarantee the security and the fairness of the auction, the decoy photon checking technique and an improved post-confirmation mechanism with EPR pairs are introduced respectively. In order to keep the sustainable development of agricultural industry, monitoring the four basic essential elements' changes, which are temperature, humidity, light intensity, carbon dioxide, and applying the corresponding solution is really necessary. An agriculture meteorological monitoring system with ZigBee wireless sensor networks (WSNs)and wireless communication technology is designed in this paper. Sensor nodes are distributed in the measurement area and form a self-organizing network. The sink collects information which transmitted from sensor nodes and then, sends the information to the server. Server will summarize the information, then taking analysis and processing. At the end, the server will give some corresponding warningand forecast. The cost of this system is low and could improve the accuracy and timeliness in agricultural meteorological monitoring. © 2014 SERSC.

The representation, discovery and exchange of context information in a mobile ad-hoc environment is challenging due to the dynamic nature of node movement and interaction. In this paper a new method to exchange context in a Mobile Ad Hoc and Sensor network (MSN), where the format of context parameters are organized and efficient communication is maintained. A context representative repository, called Context information Base (CiB) and a communication protocol called Context information Communication protocol (CiComm) are presented to implement contextual features. NS-2 has been used to simulate our work, which depicted high context discovery success and low service discovery bandwidth.

Content-based medical image retrieval is an important tool for doctors in their daily activity. In this paper, we propose a novel image retrieval framework to combine visual concept and local features. To obtain visual semantic representation of the image, we first construct a graph model by feature distance and density similarity, and then a graph-based semi-supervised learning method is applied to get the membership degree of query images. Meanwhile, the dense SIFT feature of the image patches is extracted and described by bag of visual words as local features. Besides, we design a similarity measurement based on visual concept and local feature rather than using low level features only. We evaluate the proposed algorithm in ImageCLEFmed dataset. The results demonstrate that our method represents the visual semantic of images effectively, and compares favorably to state-of-the-art approaches based on single low level features in retrieval performance.

Convolution Neural networks(CNN)can quickly diagnose COVID-19 patients by analyzing computed tomography(CT)images of the lung,thereby effectively preventing the spread of ***,the existing CNN-based COVID-19 diagnosis models do consider the problem that the lung images of COVID-19 patients in the early stage and incubation period are extremely similar to those of the non-COVID-19 *** reduces the model’s classification sensitivity,resulting in a higher probability of the model misdiagnosing COVID-19 patients as non-COVID-19 *** solve the problem,this paper first attempts to apply triplet loss and center loss to the field of COVID-19 image classification,combining softmax loss to design a jointly supervised metric loss function COVID Triplet-center Loss(COVID-TCL).Triplet loss can increase inter-class discreteness,and center loss can improve intra-class ***,COVID-TCL can help the CNN-based model to extract more discriminative features and strengthen the diagnostic capacity of COVID-19 patients in the early stage and incubation ***,we use the extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)as a classifier to design a COVID-19 images classification model of CNN-XGBoost architecture,to further improve the CNN-based model’s classification effect and operation *** experiment shows that the classification accuracy of the model proposed in this paper is 97.41%,and the sensitivity is 97.61%,which is higher than the other 7 reference *** COVID-TCL can effectively improve the classification sensitivity of the CNN-based model,the CNN-XGBoost architecture can further improve the CNN-based model’s classification effect.

WSN (wireless sensor network) is widely applied in environmental monitoring, assets tracking, battlefield monitoring and smart building. Since nodes in WSN are constrained by finite battery power and operational capability, it will have the direct effects on the lifetime of whole network. Well-designed routing protocols could make network succinct and efficient. In order to prolong the overall lifetime of WSN, lots of clustering algorithms have been proposed. Most of them are based on LEACH and proved energy-efficient, but few are implemented in real systems. CTP (collection tree protocol) has been extensively used in many systems and provides a reliable protocol for data collection. However, it neither considers energetic balance nor follows clustering feature. In this paper, we propose an efficient routing protocol by improving the CTP, adding clustering and centrally controlled features. Furthermore, we introduce a lightweight method of command distribution and some implementation technologies of clustering based on CTP. The related experiments that carried on TelosB demonstrate that our scheme is outstanding in lifetime and efficiency.
