This research study presents a new application of reinforcement learning (RL), specifically Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO), in creating immersive virtual reality (VR) games aimed at aiding skill acquisition and emotional regulation for individuals with anger management difficulties. People with Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy (CP), Intellectual Disabilities (ID), and Stroke Survivors are mainly considered. The study examines how PPO-trained agents improve cognitive, social, and emotional regulation. Techniques include thorough hyperparameter optimization for the PPO algorithm with two sets. Iterative agent training in Unity and AWS Sagemaker uses cloud computing resources for parallelized training. Emotional regulation and positive behaviour change are assessed empirically and through user studies. Virtual reality (VR) cooperative RL games may offer comprehensive treatments for anger management, according to the results, which show promising gains in emotional regulation and teamwork. By enhancing interest and effectiveness in satisfying emotional regulation demands, the study demonstrates that AI-driven therapies and "gamified therapy,"which mixes game components into therapy, can revolutionize mental health. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep-CNWO: a deep-chaotic nature whale optimization algorithm for early prediction of blood pressure disorder in smart healthcare settings

The integration of cloud and edge computing, along with machine learning, plays a vital role in the development of efficient healthcare systems in smart cities. However, machine and deep learning (DL) models are prone to delayed convergence and Type-I and Type-II errors due to data vastness and high degree imbalance. To overcome the shortcomings of previous frameworks, this work aims to propose an optimization method with DL, ‘Deep-Chaotic Nature Whale Optimization’ (Deep-CNWO) for early prediction of Blood Pressure disorders among patients under at-home supervision. A simplex search algorithm is integrated to improve the update mechanism of whale optimization algorithm (WOA), thereby creating a CNWO algorithm. The purpose of this hybrid optimization is to increase the accuracy and efficiency of DL models. Leveraging the power of DL and CNWO, this method (Deep-CNWO) provides an effective solution for early detection and proactive management of a chronic disease in at-home healthcare settings. We collected relevant data from clinical studies, including vital signs and patient contextual information, to train and evaluate the deep-CNWO model. The CNWO optimization approach has been used to improve the predictive performance and convergence of DL models. Experiments performed on imbalanced datasets using deep-CNWO have given 99.90% accuracy. The average F-score for emergency cases has improved by 22%, while the average accuracy has increased by 5.72% across all three classes, compared to the results reported in previous related work. Deep-CNWO improves the convergence of DL and reduces Type-I and Type-II errors. The experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed method for remote patient monitoring and highlight its potential for quick intervention during emergencies. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Brain-computer interfaces based on motor imagery (MI-BCI) enable communication between the brain and the outside world. It accomplishes this by capturing and examining the EEG data generated when a person visualizes moving a certain limb. Based on this investigation;to enhance categorization precision, we enhance the attribute extraction process. Once the EEG signals have been pre-processed and deconstructed into distinct bands of frequencies, we apply similar spatial algorithms for every sub-band. After that, we use Blind Source Separation (BSS) and spatial filter techniques to extract attributes directly from the sources of the brain instead of only from channels. Ultimately, by choosing the most relevant attributes as inputs for the categorization stage, we distinguish between the envisioned movements. To assess our recommended approach, we utilized data set IVa from the BCI competition III. The outcomes from diverse experiments indicate that the system achieves an average accuracy of 98.8%, with 100% sensitivity across all subjects. These results illustrate that the suggested approach effectively improves MI-based BCI. © 2024 IEEE.

Underwater object detection is an important task in computer vision, but it is usually difficult due to the complex underwater environment. In recent years, underwater object detection methods based on deep learning have been proposed and have achieved promising results. However, there still exist issues with weaker extraction of global features from images. To tackle this issue, we propose a novel neural network, VVNet, which incorporates the newly introduced RMTBFA and CVit modules, achieving superior performance in extracting global features. RMTBFA integrates the core module of the Vision Retinet model, the Manhattan Attention Mechanism, while CVit incorporates the Vision Transformer module, which facilitates the extraction of global features from images. Furthermore, we introduce Shape-IoU as a loss function for IoU, which further enhances the accuracy of our model. Finally, we tested on the two datasets of URPC2017 and URPC2018. The results showed that our network model improved the underwater object detection task indicators. © 2024 IEEE.

In the process of rendering with NPR, there will often be a problem of reduced perception of the NPR effect caused by the fixed spatial structure of the static mesh. Therefore, this research first establishes a convolutional neural network to conduct supervised training on numerous hand-drawn target stylised images, and perform continuous angle recognition through stylised images then output its angle vector. Secondly, the displacement map is generated in realtime by inputting the observation angle through the fully connected neural network model. After that, the real-time displacement map is sampled to dynamically generate the deformation of the model. In the end, the goal of breaking the model's sense of space and enhancing the NPR rendering effect can be achieved. Besides, the experimental results of this study verify the effectiveness of the method. © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Improving insulation performance with woven flax/PP hybrid composite reinforced by synthetic alumina and aluminum trihydrate

The addition of microparticles of aluminum trihydrate (ATH) and alumina (AL) to flax-based polypropylene (PP) composites enhances their mechanical strength and fire resistance. The composite materials were produced via the vacuum bagging technique. Various weight ratios of fillers (ATH & AL) to polypropylene were obtained through the process of ultrasonication (3, 6, 9, and 12 wt%). The mechanical properties of the hybrid composites were thoroughly evaluated, including their thermal conductivity, flammability, flexural and tensile strengths, and moisture absorption. Based on XRD analysis, it has been determined that the flax composite contained AL and ATH microparticles. The research indicates that the use of additional synthetic fillers in the flax-based composite reduces both the burning and moisture absorption rates, in comparison to typical flax/PP composites. The incorporation of a hybrid composite consisting of 9 wt % AL and 3 wt % ATH results in a 10.36% enhancement in tensile strength and a 3.21% improvement in flexural strength. The improved interfacial bonding strength between the fibers and resin can be attributed to the uniform dissemination of ATH/AL particles. The stress transfer rate will be enhanced as a result of the efficient cross-linking it produces. This was verified by the utilization of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The AL/ATH hybrid composites possess a thermal conductivity of 0.0596 W/mk as an additional characteristic. The thermal insulation property of the composites remains unaffected by the presence of flame retardant AL and ATH particles, as their thermal conductivity is below 0.065 W/mk. These composites are suitable for applications in the automotive, aerospace, and construction sectors, where lightweight, durable, and fire-resistant materials are needed for interior panels, insulation materials, and structural components. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Nowadays, there is a noticeable increase in the development and use of the Internet of Things(loT). With this rapid increase, IoT devices may face several challenges when used in the real world through applications. Using 5G with large numbers of Internet-connected devices of IoT puts many devices at risk and requires risk management. The growing of IoT leads to the growth of cyber-attackers and allow them to expose the vulnerabilities. This paper will present the risk management of 5G-enabled IoT technology and the use of machine learning to mitigate the risk and reduce the attacks on these technologies, and finding solutions through previous researches. This research aims to identify and eliminate potential risks in the IoT based 5G by machine learning. The paper also aims to present a solution to the security problems and risks faced when integrating the fifth-generation network and the Internet of Things. With 5G-enabled IoT, the risk management helps organizations use emerging technologies effectively while mitigating potential underlying risks such as security breaches, and data loss. Authentication,encryption, access control, and communication security are essential for making security. Machine learning algorithms have the potential to remove many obstacles to implementing the security of the Internet of Things, paving the door for the use of sophisticated technology like 5G. With new 5G networks, it is expected that the current IoT will be significantly expanded, which will improve cellular operations and the security of IoT, as well as push the future of the Internet to its edges. Pancreatic cancer poses a significant challenge in early detection and treatment due to its malignant nature within the digestive tract. Recent studies, such as those conducted by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, predict that pancreatic cancer will rank as the world's second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in 2020. Various methods have been explored in the literature to segment pancreatic tumors and detect lesions from CT images, crucial for assessing severity. One such method is the Min-Max segmentation algorithm, which effectively removes the jaundiced sclera region from affected eyes by analysing color gradients, offering more feasible and discriminative solutions. Additionally, the utilization of Whale Optimized feature-based selection aids in extracting optimal features for optimization purposes. Through an analysis of different classification algorithms and the implementation of a suggested technique for achieving optimum solutions and maximum accuracy, the proposed work is structured into two phases. Phase I involves pre-processing and artifact removal, followed by segmentation, while Phase II focuses on feature extraction, feature selection, and classification. The initial step of pre-processing the image facilitates pixel location using intensity measures, crucial for accurate tumor segmentation and minimizing false detection. Ultimately, the proposed approach aims to design and develop an optimal feature selection strategy for classifying pancreatic cancer tumors in PET/CT images, resulting in increased classification efficiency 92% and improved cancer tumor detection rates with compare other existing approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

Early fire danger monitoring system in smart cities using optimization-based deep learning techniques with artificial intelligence

One primary safety concern for smart cities is fire. Traditional techniques are not appropriate because of their high false alarm rates, delayed characteristics, and susceptibility in situations with heritage buildings. Smart cities must develop sophisticated methods to mitigate the severe effects of fires and achieve early fire detection in real time. An artificial intelligence-based recurrent neural network with a whale optimization framework (AI-RNN-WO) was introduced to estimate the risk of fire hazards early on. IoT sensor devices are first deployed in smart cities to continuously monitor environmental parameters such as temperature, smoke, flame, relative humidity, fuel moisture, and duff moisture code. These sensed data are then saved in the cloud storage system Firebase. Then, the sensed dataset is updated to the designed model, which pre-processes the data and extracts relevant features from the dataset. The RNN parameters are tuned using whale optimization, which improves the prediction results and attains better accuracy. The performance of the proposed AI-RNN-WO model is validated using a MATLAB tool, and the performance is compared with existing models. The produced model has demonstrated its effectiveness by attaining the highest accuracy (99.5%) and lowest error rate (0.1%). © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
