Agriculture stands as India's most crucial industry, despite grappling with a 35% annual loss in crop yield attributed to plant diseases. Traditionally, the detection of plant diseases has been a laborious process, hampered by insufficient laboratory infrastructure and expert knowledge. Plant disease detection methods that are automated provide a useful way to expedite the labor-intensive process of keeping an eye on large-scale agricultural fields and recognizing disease symptoms as soon as they appear on plant leaves. Current developments in deep learning (DL) and computer vision have highlighted the benefits of creating autonomous models for plant disease identification based on visible symptoms on leaves. In this study, we propose a novel method for detecting and classifying plant diseases by combining the Emperor Penguin Optimizer (EPO) with a Region Convolutional Neural Network (RCNN). The suggested methodology uses EPO to improve the discriminative power of features extracted from plant pictures, allowing for a more robust and accurate classification procedure. The Classification Region Convolutional Neural Network (RCNN) is used to leverage spatial correlations within the image, allowing for exact disease region localization. The goal of this integration is to increase the overall efficiency and dependability of plant disease detection systems. The investigations made use of the well-known PlantVillage dataset, which comprises 54,305 data of different plant disease types in 38 categories. Furthermore, an analysis was carried out in comparison with similar advanced investigations. According to the experiment results, RCNN-EPO outperformed in terms of classification accuracy, achieving 94.552%. © 2024 IEEE.

This study investigates the design and execution of an automated attendance tracking system using facial recognition CCTV based . Facial recognition technology and CCTV cameras are integrated in this system to provide a seamless, frictionless way to track and record attendance in real time. In addition to boosting attendance record accuracy, the approach reduces the administrative burden associated with using traditional methods. The suggested system is designed to recognise people when they enter or leave a monitored area by leveraging developments in computer vision. It accomplishes this automatically and requires no interaction from humans. Furthermore, the system's use of the Internet of Things makes it flexible and scalable to a variety of business situations, including offices, schools, and large-scale events. This is made feasible via real-time data synchronising and reporting.

This chapter presents the study carried out to discover uncertain parameters in a model of a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind energy conversion system (WECS) and to investigate their effects on WECS plant while harvesting energy from wind at varying speeds. This is carried out by analytically formulating the steady-state models of a DFIG-based WECS and computing the parameters of these models at different wind speeds that drive wind turbines at rotor speed from sub-synchronous to super-synchronous. The main uncertain parameters in this system are the mutual reactances between stator and rotor windings, and the reactance of rotor winding. These variations happen due to the varying wind speed. The effect of parametric uncertainties on the steady-state performances of DFIG-based WECS is examined. The results depicted that the steady-state performances of DFIG-based WECS are influenced by uncertain phenomena. Typically a 0.5% change in mutual reactances caused up to 10 kW change in the generator output power. Mainly, it causes instability in the performances of the DFIG-based WECS and slightly reduces overall efficiency at a higher value of the wind speed. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In the realm of modern transportation systems, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) play a pivotal role in enabling efficient communication among vehicles and infrastructure elements for enhanced road safety and traffic management. However, the inherent vulnerabilities in VANETs, such as privacy breaches and security threats, necessitate robust frameworks to mitigate risks and ensure secure data transmission. This paper presents a comprehensive architecture for Privacy-Enriched Data Communication over VANETs using Software-Defined Network (SDN) assistance. The proposed framework integrates key components including vehicles, Roadside Units (RSUs), and SDN controllers to facilitate secure and privacy-aware communication. Vehicles act as data sources, employing pseudonyms and encryption mechanisms to protect user privacy. RSUs serve as access points, collecting and relaying data while enforcing access control policies. SDN controllers provide centralized management, dynamically allocating resources and enforcing privacy policies through encryption, pseudonymization, and access control mechanisms. Communication protocols such as IEEE 802.11p and LTE enable vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, while the OpenFlow protocol facilitates communication between SDN controllers and network devices. Additionally, trust management mechanisms evaluate the trustworthiness of network entities based on behavioral analysis, reliability metrics, and security considerations, ensuring the integrity and resilience of the network. By amalgamating SDN-based management with privacy enhancement mechanisms and trust management protocols, the proposed framework offers a robust solution for addressing privacy and security challenges in VANETs, thereby fostering safer and more secure transportation ecosystems. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the energy planning problem (EPP) as an optimization problem to find the optimal schedules to minimize energy consumption costs and demand and enhance users’ comfort levels. The grey wolf optimizer (GWO), One of the most powerful optimization methods, is adjusted and adapted to address EPP optimally and achieve its objectives efficiently. The GWO is adapted due to its high performance in addressing NP-complex hard problems like the EPP, where it contains efficient and dynamic parameters that enhance its exploration and exploitation capabilities, particularly for large search spaces. In addition, new energy and real-world resources based on solar renewable energy systems (RESs) are combined with the proposed GWO to enhance its performance and ensure the optimisation of EPP objectives. Furthermore, EPP is presented as a multi-objective planning problem to optimize all objectives simultaneously. To efficiently investigate the proposed method performance, the results obtained by the GWO with the RESs are compared in three stages: comparison with original methods without RESs, comparison with methods using RESs, and comparison with state-of-the-art. The obtained results proved the robust performance of the proposed method in handling EPP and optimizing its objectives. © 2024 The Author(s)

With the rise in environmental awareness and the promotion of new energy vehicle policies, the electric vehicle (EV) market is rapidly expanding. Direct current (DC) charging stations, as a crucial infrastructure for electric vehicle charging, have made the design and optimization of their monitoring systems especially important. This study aims to design and implement an efficient and reliable DC charging station monitoring system for electric vehicles using the LabVIEW platform. The system primarily achieves real-time data collection, signal processing, State of Charge (SoC) estimation, and user interface optimization. Through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and big data analysis, this study also assesses the spatial distribution and accessibility of charging stations to promote the rational layout of charging infrastructure. Experimental results show that the developed monitoring system can effectively improve charging efficiency, reduce system response time, and enhance user experience. Moreover, system performance is further improved through optimization using genetic algorithms and simulated annealing algorithms. The research results provide technical support and practical guidance for the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, playing a significant role in promoting the sustainable development of the electric vehicle industry. © 2024 SPIE.

Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)provide intelligent navigation and efficient route management,resulting in time savings and cost reductions in the transportation ***,the exchange of beacons and messages over public channels among vehicles and roadside units renders these networks vulnerable to numerous attacks and privacy *** address these challenges,several privacy and security preservation protocols based on blockchain and public key cryptography have been proposed ***,most of these schemes are limited by a long execution time and massive communication costs,which make them inefficient for on-board units(OBUs).Additionally,some of them are still susceptible to many *** such,this study presents a novel protocol based on the fusion of elliptic curve cryptography(ECC)and bilinear pairing(BP)*** formal security analysis is accomplished using the Burrows–Abadi–Needham(BAN)logic,demonstrating that our scheme is verifiably *** proposed scheme’s informal security assessment also shows that it provides salient security features,such as non-repudiation,anonymity,and ***,the scheme is shown to be resilient against attacks,such as packet replays,forgeries,message falsifications,and *** the performance perspective,this protocol yields a 37.88%reduction in communication overheads and a 44.44%improvement in the supported security ***,the proposed scheme can be deployed in VANETs to provide robust security at low overheads.

The growing danger of coastal pollution requires novel, automated remediation methods. This paper proposes combining autonomous robots with sophisticated sensor technologies and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based data analytics system to clean up coastal areas. The robots autonomously cruise coastal settings, discover and categories marine waste using onboard sensors, and send data to a cloud-based infrastructure for analysis. The proposed method relies on CNN, a deep learning model known for image recognition. For reliable identification and classification, CNN is trained on a broad collection of marine waste images. The cloud-based data analytics platform receives, processes, and stores cleaning robot data. It handles massive datasets effectively using cloud computing scalability and processing power. The technology uses real-time cloud image processing to identify garbage and enable robots to adjust their cleaning tactics. The data analytics platform generates detailed reports and visualizations to analyze cleaning efficiency and environmental effect. It advances automated coastal cleaning technology by integrating advanced robotics, sensor technologies, and deep learning. The proposed approach improves coastal cleaning speed, accuracy, and flexibility to protect marine habitats and biodiversity. © 2024 IEEE.
