Communication Resource-Efficient Vehicle Platooning Control With Various Spacing Policies

Platooning represents one of the key features that connected automated vehicles may possess as it allows multiple automated vehicles to be maneuvered cooperatively with small headways on roads. However, a critical challenge in accomplishing automated vehicle platoons is to deal with the effects of intermittent and sporadic vehicle-to-vehicle data transmissions caused by limited wireless communication resources. This paper addresses the co-design problem of dynamic event-triggered communication scheduling and cooperative adaptive cruise control for a convoy of automated vehicles with diverse spacing policies. The central aim is to achieve automated vehicle platooning under various gap references with desired platoon stability and spacing performance requirements, while simultaneously improving communication efficiency. Toward this aim, a dynamic event-triggered scheduling mechanism is developed such that the intervehicle data transmissions are scheduled dynamically and efficiently over time. Then, a tractable co-design criterion on the existence of both the admissible event-driven cooperative adaptive cruise control law and the desired scheduling mechanism is derived. Finally, comparative simulation results are presented to substantiate the effectiveness and merits of the obtained results.

Early prediction of diabetics using three-layer classifier model and improved dimensionality reduction

Diabetes is a long-term illness that results in a variety of chronic body damage, such as kidney failure, heart problems, eye damage, depression, and nerve damage. This disease is caused by several risk factors, the most prevalent of which are age, obesity, hypertension, and insulin resistance. As a result, early detection of these chronic diseases is critical in assisting patients in reversing diabetes and living healthy lives. Moreover, the main motive of this research is to enhance the prediction and classification score of the existing models by improved dimensionality reduction. In this study, a new early diabetic prediction model is developed using a new Three-Layer Classifier model. The proposed model is designed by using the Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest (RF), and Improved Restricted Boltzmann machine (I-RBM). At first, the raw data is pre-processed using a data cleaning method, where the Missing Value handling, Unwanted data removal, and noise and Outliers handling are accomplished. The noisy images are filtered/denoised by median filters. Then, from this pre-processed data, features like improved Independent Component Analysis (i-ICA), information gain, joint mutual information (JMI), conditional mutual information (CMI), Correlation, and Joint entropy are extracted. As a result, the performance of the proposed model can be validated with different existing methods such as IRBM, RF-SVM, RBM, RF, and SVM. The developed system provides better accuracy about 98.7% of disease classification accuracy and it is high when compared with the existing methodologies such as SVM, RF, RBM, RF-SVM, and IRBM. The accuracy of SVM is about 87%, the accuracy of RF is 91%, RBM and RF-SVM models have 95% accuracy, and the IRBM model has 96% accuracy. Moreover, the higher accuracy of the proposed model indicates that the system can able to reduce the high dimensionality data to avoid overfitting and thus it can enhance the perfromance. © The Author(s), under excl

Robust federated contrastive recommender system against targeted model poisoning attack

Federated recommender systems(FedRecs) have garnered increasing attention recently, thanks to their privacypreserving benefits. However, the decentralized and open characteristics of current FedRecs present at least two ***, the performance of FedRecs is compromised due to highly sparse on-device data for each client. Second, the system's robustness is undermined by the vulnerability to model poisoning attacks launched by malicious users. In this paper, we introduce a novel contrastive learning framework designed to fully leverage the client's sparse data through embedding augmentation, referred to as CL4FedRec. Unlike previous contrastive learning approaches in FedRecs that necessitate clients to share their private parameters, our CL4FedRec aligns with the basic FedRec learning protocol, ensuring compatibility with most existing FedRec implementations. We then evaluate the robustness of FedRecs equipped with CL4FedRec by subjecting it to several state-of-the-art model poisoning attacks. Surprisingly, our observations reveal that contrastive learning tends to exacerbate the vulnerability of FedRecs to these attacks. This is attributed to the enhanced embedding uniformity, making the polluted target item embedding easily proximate to popular items. Based on this insight, we propose an enhanced and robust version of CL4FedRec(rCL4FedRec) by introducing a regularizer to maintain the distance among item embeddings with different popularity levels. Extensive experiments conducted on four commonly used recommendation datasets demonstrate that rCL4FedRec significantly enhances both the model's performance and the robustness of FedRecs.

Modeling and spectral analysis of high speed optical fiber communication with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing

Optical communication has emerged as the best solution to high-speed transmission systems due to its higher bandwidth and higher data rates. The higher data rates with simple transmitter and receiver modeling are one of the best solutions to design the spectrally efficient high-speed optical transmission system using different modulation techniques. In the recent past, optical communication networks have been specifically designed and optimized to support different communication standards increasing the capabilities of optic fiber, integrated waveguides, and related optical fiber hardware, and signal conditioning circuits. So, this research paper presents a study, modeling, simulation, and analysis of optical performance under different transmission systems which are considered in a practical high-speed design using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). This can be done by using both coherent detection OFDM and direct detection OFDM to minimize dispersion effects in optical communication because OFDM is basic for modern technology to increase the data rate and increase the requirement of bandwidth in broadband services. Many optical fiber problems, such as chromatic dispersion (CD) and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) are solved using OFDM. The performance analyses made in this work by using different parameters such as bit error rate (BER), optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR), quality (Q) factor at different distance transmission by using different quadrature modulation such as 4-QAM, 16-QAM, 32-QAM, and 64-QAM to maintain the OSNR value, spectral efficiency, and the required data rates. The simulated results have shown that the coherent detection OFDM and direct detection OFDM with considered QAM provides the best value of BER and quality of the signal at a specific distance. © 2024 Walter de Gruyter GmbH. Answering reachability queries with ordered label constraints over labeled graphs

Reachability query plays a vital role in many graph analysis *** researches proposed many methods to efficiently answer reachability queries between vertex *** many real graphs are labeled graph,it highly demands Label-Constrained Reachability(LCR)query inwhich constraint includes a set of labels besides vertex *** researches proposed several methods for answering some LCR queries which require appearance of some labels specified in constraints in the *** that constraint may be a label set,query constraint may be ordered labels,namely OLCR(Ordered-Label-Constrained Reachability)queries which retrieve paths matching a sequence of ***,no solutions are available for ***,we propose DHL,a novel bloom filter based indexing technique for answering OLCR *** can be used to check reachability between vertex *** the answers are not no,then constrained DFS is ***,we employ DHL followed by performing constrained DFS to answer OLCR *** show that DHL has a bounded false positive rate,and it's powerful in saving indexing time and *** experiments on 10 real-life graphs and 12 synthetic graphs demonstrate that DHL achieves about 4.8-22.5 times smaller index space and 4.6-114 times less index construction time than two state-of-art techniques for LCR queries,while achieving comparable query response *** results also show that our algorithm can answer OLCR queries effectively.

Hybrid Seagull and Whale Optimization Algorithm-Based Dynamic Clustering Protocol for Improving Network Longevity in Wireless Sensor Networks

Energy efficiency is the prime concern in Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) as maximized energy consumption without essentially limits the energy stability and network lifetime. Clustering is the significant approach essential for minimizing unnecessary transmission energy consumption with sustained network lifetime. This clustering process is identified as the Non-deterministic Polynomial(NP)-hard optimization problems which has the maximized probability of being solved through metaheuristic *** adoption of hybrid metaheuristic algorithm concentrates on the identification of the optimal or nearoptimal solutions which aids in better energy stability during Cluster Head(CH) selection. In this paper,Hybrid Seagull and Whale Optimization Algorithmbased Dynamic Clustering Protocol(HSWOA-DCP)is proposed with the exploitation benefits of WOA and exploration merits of SEOA to optimal CH selection for maintaining energy stability with prolonged network lifetime. This HSWOA-DCP adopted the modified version of SEagull Optimization Algorithm(SEOA) to handle the problem of premature convergence and computational accuracy which is maximally possible during CH selection. The inclusion of SEOA into WOA improved the global searching capability during the selection of CH and prevents worst fitness nodes from being selected as CH, since the spiral attacking behavior of SEOA is similar to the bubble-net characteristics of WOA. This CH selection integrates the spiral attacking principles of SEOA and contraction surrounding mechanism of WOA for improving computation accuracy to prevent frequent election process. It also included the strategy of levy flight strategy into SEOA for potentially avoiding premature convergence to attain better trade-off between the rate of exploration and exploitation in a more effective manner. UCat: heterogeneous memory management for unikernels

Unikernels provide an efficient and lightweight way to deploy cloud computing services in application-specialized and single-address-space virtual machines (VMs). They can efficiently deploy hundreds of unikernel-based VMs in a single physical server. In such a cloud computing platform, main memory is the primary bottleneck resource for high-density application deployment. Recently, non-volatile memory (NVM) technologies has become increasingly popular in cloud data centers because they can offer extremely large memory capacity at a low expense. However, there still remain many challenges to utilize NVMs for unikernel-based VMs, such as the difficulty of heterogeneous memory allocation and high performance overhead of address *** this paper, we present UCat, a heterogeneous memory management mechanism that support multi-grained memory allocation for unikernels. We propose front-end/back-end cooperative address space mapping to expose the host memory heterogeneity to unikernels. UCat exploits large pages to reduce the cost of two-layer address translation in virtualization environments, and leverages slab allocation to reduce memory waste due to internal memory fragmentation. We implement UCat based on a popular unikernel--OSv and conduct extensive experiments to evaluate its efficiency. Experimental results show that UCat can reduce the memory consumption of unikernels by 50% and TLB miss rate by 41%, and improve the throughput of real-world benchmarks such as memslap and YCSB by up to 18.5% and 14.8%, respectively.

Machine learning algorithms are used in various real-time applications, where security is one of the major problems. Security is applied in various aspects of the application in cloud computing. One of the security issues is a side-channel attack, which is not a common problem that can be solved by a point solution. The emerging computing industries need a better solution for side-channel attack detection since the amount of data used in communication and sharing on the Internet is enormous. Several old research works have concluded that machine learning algorithms are highly suitable for data analytics. Hence, this paper has aimed to propose a better machine-learning model for side-channel attack detection. This paper explains some machine learning algorithms from a technical point of view. The explanation identifies that the Convolution Neural Network algorithm is selected as a better algorithm for side-channel attack detection. The proposed CNN model has experimented with Python software to verify the results. Since CNN is more efficient in data analytics, the analysis result produces more accurate predictions than earlier algorithms. Swarm intention identification via dynamic distribution probability image

In the realm of decision-making for defense and security applications,it is paramount to swiftly and accurately identify the intentions of incoming *** identification methods predominantly focus on single-target applications and overlook the perturbations introduced by measurement *** this study,we propose a novel concept:the Dynamic Distribution Probability(DDP)image,which is constructed using the estimated state and its covariance *** grayscale pixel value within the image signifies the probability of the presence of the agent within the *** proposed identification scheme integrates the use of Extended Kalman Filter(EKF),Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),Back Propagation(BP)network,and Gated Recurrent Unit(GRU)***,the DDP image is processed through a CNN to distill the formation characteristics,and the estimated swarm state from EKF is inputted into a BP network to deduce the kinematic *** outputs from both networks are summed and subsequently channeled into a GRU network to capture temporal *** numerical simulations and flight experiments are presented to demonstrate the robust anti-noise capability of the proposed scheme compared with conventional methods,as well as its superior training efficiency.
