As technology develops continuously, digital images are being applied more and more extensively in daily life. Digital images are mainly divided into two categories: one is the images obtained by photosensitive devices such as cameras, and the other is the images generated by software. Nevertheless, in low - light conditions, the images captured by traditional photosensitive devices typically suffer from issues like low luminance and subpar visual qualities. These problems pose significant challenges to subsequent image processing and practical applications. Thus, the technology of enhancing low - light images has emerged as a crucial research area for the purpose of elevating image quality. This paper puts forward a solution centered around the improved UNet network to address the issue of image enhancement in low - light settings. The UNet network effectively performs image enhancement through feature extraction, feature fusion, and restoration operations. However, the classical UNet can only process single - channel grayscale images, and the loss function it uses has relatively limited effects in low - light image processing. Therefore, this paper adjusts the number of channels of the UNet network so that it can process three - channel RGB images and improves the loss function. We compared the enhancement effects of L1 Loss, VGG Loss, and SmoothL1 Loss respectively, and carried out a quantitative analysis through evaluation metrics such as PSNR and SSIM. Ultimately, through the combination of the three loss functions and their weighted optimization, the enhancement effect of low - light images is notably enhanced. The innovation of this paper lies in expanding the structure of the UNet network to make it adaptable to three - channel image processing, and improving the quality of image enhancement by improving the loss function. In the past few years, with the continuous development of deep reinforcement learning, the application of deep reinforcement has been set off within the realms of self-driving vehicle technology, game games, and natural language processing, and the proximal policy optimization algorithm has emerged as a focal point in the sphere of deep reinforcement learning research. In this paper, the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) algorithm and the Multi-Agent Proximal Policy Optimization (MAPPO) algorithm are studied, and a cooperative multi-agent system is designed and implemented based on the MAPPO algorithm in the field of StarCraft game, which is compared with the popular Q-Value Mixing (QMIX) reinforcement learning algorithm in recent years, and proposes a direction for subsequent system improvement. In the proximal policy optimization algorithm, the traditional policy gradient algorithm, natural policy gradient algorithm, trust domain policy optimization algorithm, proximal policy optimization algorithm, and independent proximal policy optimization algorithm are studied. In the multi-agent proximal policy optimization algorithm, the centralized training decentralized execution architecture, athlete critic method, value standardization, experience playback, and GAE (GAE) adopted by the MAPPO algorithm are studied. Designing and implementing a cooperative multi-agent system, introducing the StarCraft environmental campaign. Regarding the specifics of the training process, the policy gradient algorithm is used to update the policy network, the time series difference algorithm is improved, and the generalized advantage estimation is used to update the value network. Compared with the QMIX learning algorithm, the model trained by the MAPPO algorithm has the advantages of faster convergence and better stability. © 2025 SPIE.

Blockchain-Based Intelligent Digital Credentialing System for Participatory Governance: Design, Implementation, and Potential Implications

This research proposes a blockchain-based digital credentialing system for participatory governance to address issues with centralized, opaque, and insecure standard credential systems. Leveraging the Hyperledger Fabric platform and smart contracts, the proposed method increases credential data’s transparency, security, and immutability, resulting in a more efficient and cost-effective solution. The paper covers the technological design of the system, including the use of Hyperledger Fabric components and the incorporation of the digital credential system. It also discusses the potential benefits and challenges of the system, highlighting its potential to increase trust and accountability in participatory governance. This paper presents a promising solution for improving digital credentialing using blockchain technology with implications for participatory governance. It explores a participatory administration’s social and political consequences via a blockchain-enabled innovative certification system, including greater citizen engagement and participation and enhanced credibility and legitimacy of governance processes. We study the performance of the IEEE 802.11p medium access protocol for platooning of connected vehicles in the presence of interruptions from human-driven Motorised Two Wheelers (MTWs). We invoke specific mobility models for the movement of the vehicles - car-following models for connected vehicle platoons and gap-acceptance model to capture the interruptions by the MTWs - and use them to configure (i) the traffic setup and (ii) the rate at which data packets related to safety-critical messages are generated. A control-theoretic analysis of the car-following models yields a bound on the admissible communication delay to ensure non-oscillatory convergence of the platoon headway. We then use suitable Markov chain models to derive the distribution of the MAC access delay experienced by packets pertaining to safety-critical events as well as routine safety messages. Using the delay distribution and the bound on the admissible delay we compute the reliability of the 802.11p MAC protocol in terms of traffic and protocol parameters. It is seen that the MAC protocol may not always ensure timely delivery of packets for safe platooning. Our study highlights the need for redesign of MAC protocols for vehicular communications in heterogeneous conditions. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper introduces a novel spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) based metamaterial-inspired electromagnetic (EM) biosensor for non-invasive diabetes analysis. The sensor design incorporates a spoof surface whispering gallery mode (SS-WGM) resonator, which effectively localizes the electric field within a specific region due to its slow-wave propagation. To achieve optimal sensitivity, a PDMS microfluidic channel is utilized to hold the sample (SUT) precisely on the region of maximum EM field concentration. Two different non-invasive samples, aqua solution mimicking blood, and human saliva, are used for evaluation. The comprehensive analysis reveals that this proposed microwave sensor holds great potential in advancing the development of modern lab-on-chip systems based on microwave technology. © 2023 IEEE.

Nowadays, energy storage plays a crucial role in electric vehicles. The existing constant current constant voltage charging methods can accelerate damage inside the battery by causing a loss of lithium ions, if a high current (more than 1C) is injected. Hence, a new optimized charging algorithm is proposed in this paper. In this charging method, four charging algorithms are combined, which are pulse current charging (0% to 20% SOC), pulse and burp current charging (20% to 80% SOC), and constant current constant voltage charging (above 80% SOC). This proposed hybrid charging algorithm reduces the charging time to less than an hour. One of the important features of this charging algorithm is that it charges the battery in pulse charging and pulse and burp charging modes at low frequency (2.5 Hz). Additionally, the negative current pulse in pulse and burp charging mode helps to mitigate the issue of lithium plating on the surface of the negative electrode during the charging process. Hence, the proposed method optimizes the performance of the battery to improve the battery life. The proposed algorithm is implemented in a bidirectional DC-DC power converter to verify the operation. The simulation and experimental results of the proposed charging method are included in this paper which shows, improvement of the battery life. The experimental results are also included in this paper. © 2023 IEEE.
