Image captioning is the process of converting an image into a readable description in natural language that captures that content observed within the image. The ability to generate captions for images is significant in helping humans understand visual materials. This can include describing items sold in stores, assisting human-computer interactions, and generally improving assistive technology for visually impaired individuals. The goal of our research is to generate Indonesian captions for images and evaluate the effectiveness of the generated captions. A translated version of the Flickr8k dataset will be used for this study. An encoder-decoder with attention based approach was used, along with the aid of the pre-trained InceptionV3 model for image encoding. Our results have shown that the proposed model outperformed a previous research and obtained BLEU-1, BLEU-2, BLEU-3, and BLEU-4 score of 38.7, 21.1, 8.7, and 3.2 respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is an XML-based image format for two-dimensional diagrams. Made up of vectors, SVG enable image and behavior manipulation through a versatile XML-based format that can be created and edited with any text editor and many graphical editing software. With the advent of the web, SVG editing applications have become increasingly available to the public. However, in order to be able to serve users the ability to edit vector graphics in real-time, the performance of the editor plays a significant role in ensuring a smooth user experience. The goal of this study is in comparing the performance of WebAssembly and JavaScript for an SVG editor environment. Our results show that the WebAssembly implementation outperforms JavaScript in terms of execution time and memory usage. © 2024 IEEE.

Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs) are a class of algorithms that allow decentralized editing of documents as data structures in which concurrent operations are commutative, while there has been extensive research on generic CRDTs which allow CRDTs to be modeled according to application data. Current generic CRDTs use a CRDT map or an operation log which lack a tree structure with support for move operations to represent a vector graphics document or does not preserve updates that are concurrent to deletions. In this paper, a set of concurrent editing scenarios that are frequently made by user's of collaborative vector graphics editing are described. A CRDT for collaborative vector graphics editing which cover these scenarios named SVGDoc is then introduced. The main idea of SVGDoc is to use the UWMap (Update-Wins Map) as described by Preguica to allow updates to be preserved when concurrently made to deletions in combination with the move operation log described by Kleppmann et al to allow move operations among nodes in a tree. SVGDoc is also tested through unit testing and further validated by applying it to a minimal collaborative vector graphics editor. © 2024 IEEE.

Genshin Impact, a critically acclaimed ongoing multiplayer RPG, has amassed 4.4 million reviews on Google Play, reflecting its widespread popularity across mobile and PC platforms. Developers face the challenge of handling a growing amount of user feedback, which slows down the timely integration of valuable insights into the game. To address this, sentiment analysis is conducted on 48,000 English reviews using the BERT method, providing a comprehensive overview for developers. This study delves into hyperparameter adjustments for the BertForSequenceClassification model in predicting sentiment for Genshin Impact reviews. The best accuracy achieved by our fine-tuned model is 70 %, with a Matthews coefficient score of 55 %, utilizing the bert-base-uncased model (4 epochs, batch size 32, learning rate 0.00002). While successfully constructing a BERT model for sentiment prediction, the study recognizes room for improvement and recommends further fine-tuning and increasing the dataset size to exceed the accuracy obtained by this study. © 2024 IEEE.

Coral reef bleaching is a growing, ongoing issue that has yet to be tackled completely. One way to prevent these events is to make data-driven decisions, which can be done through data science. This paper uses machine learning to potentially predict future coral bleaching so that actions can be taken before the event's occurrence. Three machine learning algorithms are used, namely Support Vector Machines (SVM), Decision Trees, and Naïve Bayes. In this paper, we use both numerical and categorical datasets from BCO-DMO. The performances of the models, such as SVM, Decision Tree, and Naïve Bayes are evaluated to reveal which algorithm performed best in this application. The findings reveal that SVM had the best overall performance in predicting coral bleaching events, with an accuracy score of 93 percent for the BCO-DMO dataset. Further research can be done to expand and improve the reliability of these results. © 2024 IEEE.

The concept of connected things that involves emotional aspects has been raised as a new research issue known as 'emotional IoT'. One of the challenges is to recognize the emotion in real-time without interfering the user's task or activity. However, most of the existing works on emotion recognition deal with high sampling rate devices and thus need complex arrangement. In this study, we present a framework to recognize four emotions based on human physiological signals using pervasive devices with low sampling rate. The employment of low sampling rate devices may degrade the classification accuracy due to the data offsets or calibration errors. Our study proposes a set of energy deviation features to overcome the accuracy degradation caused by low sampling rate devices. The recursive feature elimination method is applied to avoid overfitting by selecting the most important features and reduce the computational overhead in real-world implementation. Experimental results show that the proposed approach achieves 92.01% and 91.75% accuracy in terms of valence and arousal, respectively. The realization of the proposed approach is done in an end-to-end soft real-time emotion recognition system using smartphone and smartwatch devices. The performance of our system was evaluated under laboratory setup, resulting in 46.3 milliseconds of response time on the average for recognizing emotions. © 2024 IEEE.

This research evaluates the request completion time, average latency, error rate, and memory usage of four Go web frameworks: Fiber, Gin, Beego, and Echo, under different concurrent connections to find a fast, reliable, and scalable framework. These frameworks utilize GORM alongside a MySQL database. The test uses appropriate data from the oil and gas industry and it is done by hitting the endpoint that initializes a double inner join query using Grafana K6. The test is done on a Windows 11 machine with an Intel Core i5-12400F and 16GB of RAM, running Go 1.19. The results show that Echo outperforms the other frameworks with fastest request completion time, least average latency, error rate, and memory usage under heavier load, showing that Echo is fast, reliable, uses minimal resources, and has great scalability. However, under lighter load, the results obtained show similar speeds and error rates for all the frameworks but Gin showed a significantly higher memory usage. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper discusses the performance of Object Relational Model data models in managing data for the oil and gas industry within Indonesia. The paper derives from a regulation made by the Indonesian government to standardize the format for data that falls under the category of upstream oil and gas affecting a total of 45 different data types. The paper aims to simulate ORM data models to identify their performance in managing rapidly growing data. The comparisons conducted within the paper are file space, data redundancy, and average operation time. The comparisons will be between normalized and non-normalized data models that are tested over 1000, 10,000, and 100,000 iterations of CRUD operations. A two-way ANOVA will analyze the mean differences between ORM models and database operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) concerning average operation time. Results indicate that normalized data models perform better in average operation time compared to non-normalized models. © 2024 IEEE.

Near Field Communication or NFC is a subset of Radio Frequency Identification which enables information storage and retrieval. Its application in education remains limited. Researcher aims to combine NFC technology with hologram projection to enhance engagement and interactivity in learning. Since children often struggle to remain still during conventional learning process, there is a hope that holograms will make the learning process more interesting. The researcher uses the toy as a medium because the target is for children in early childhood education. Students can interact with smart toys while viewing educational material through hologram projection. This research contributes to Information and Communication Technology by integrating NFC to create interactive smart toys and holograms projection. Tests have demonstrated the feasibility of combining NFC technology with hologram projection by using NFC tag, reader, smartphone, and box with transparent panel. © 2024 IEEE.

This research explores a new approach to building recommendation systems in the telecommunications industry, focusing on revenue generation rather than traditional service ratings. By analyzing data from a well-known local telecommunications company, this research proposes two different strategies: one targeting customers who generate minimal revenue and another for customers who have higher and consistent revenue. Utilizing collaborative filtering with item-based techniques, the system uses Cosine and Jaccard Similarity algorithms to improve its recommendation results. The Jaccard Similarity algorithm, in particular, showed a high accuracy rate of 93%. This method, which is based solely on income data and customer segmentation based on average daily income, offers new insights into the development of recommendation systems in the absence of explicit service ratings. © 2024 IEEE.
