Infrared small targets often exhibit small scale and weak semantic features, which makes it a great challenge to their detection. To address this situation, we propose a novel network for infrared small target detection that combines local details information and global contextual information. To preserve the local and high-frequency details present in infrared images, we introduce a High-frequency Aware Encoder. To extract contextual information from multi-scale feature maps, we propose a Multi-scale Context Learning Bottleneck that incorporates contextual information repeatedly and performs cross-level fusion, which enables the recognition of small targets based on their surroundings. Finally, a lightweight Transformer Decoder is employed to restore the feature map, while placing attention on the target pixels. Experimental results on the IRSTD-1k dataset demonstrate that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art approaches.

The emerging vehicular metaverse embodies the next-generation vehicular networking paradigm. In the vehicular metaverses, Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) technology as a powerful content generation tool, is capable of providing an immersive experience for Vehicular Metaverse Users (VMUs). Due to limited computational resources within vehicles, VMUs rely on AIGC Service Providers (ASPs) to execute resource-intensive AIGC tasks within vehicular metaverses. However, large-scale AIGC service requests can lead to resource scarcity within the ASP, ultimately leading to declining service quality for VMUs. To tackle this challenge, we introduce a novel Stackelberg game framework utilizing the Generative Diffusion Model (GDM) for AIGC services, in which we experimentally reveal a relationship between image quality and diffusion steps. A Transformer-based Deep Reinforcement Learning (TDRL) algorithm is employed to find the optimal Stackelberg equilibrium under incomplete information. Numerical results indicate that our method converges to equilibrium efficiently, with superior utilities compared to baseline approaches. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Evolutionary reinforcement learning algorithms (ERLs), which combine evolutionary algorithms (EAs) with reinforcement learning (RL), have demonstrated significant success in enhancing RL performance. However, most ERLs rely heavily on Gaussian mutation operators to generate new individuals. When the standard deviation is too large or small, this approach will result in the production of poor or highly similar offspring. Such outcomes can be detrimental to the learning process of the RL agent, as too many poor or similar experiences are generated by these individuals. In order to alleviate these issues, this paper proposes an Adaptive Evolutionary Reinforcement Learning (AERL) method that adaptively adjusts both the standard deviation and the evaluation process. By tracking the performance of new individuals, AERL maintains the mutation strength within a suitable range without the need for additional gradient computations. Moreover, the proposed AERL approach early terminates unnecessary evaluations and discards experiences arising from poor individuals, thereby resulting in enhanced learning efficiency. Empirical assessments conducted on a variety of continuous control problems demonstrate the effectiveness of the AERL method.

The rapid advancement of deepfake technology presents significant challenges for video authenticity verification, necessitating robust detection mechanisms. This paper introduces a novel framework for deepfake video detection that integrates the Multi-Scale Spectral-Guided Graph Attention Network (MSG-GAT) with the Lightweight Assimilation-Elimination (Lite-ASEL) algorithm. By representing video frames as graphs, the framework effectively captures intricate pixel relationships, enabling the detection of subtle manipulations with enhanced precision. Additionally, the Lite-ASEL algorithm is employed for feature selection, balancing reduced computational complexity with high detection performance. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed framework, achieving state-of-the-art performance with an AUC of 99.1 % and a detection accuracy of 99.3%. Furthermore, hyperparameter tuning confirms the framework's robustness and efficiency, consistently achieving an optimal objective score of 98.54%, validating its effectiveness for optimal feature selection and deepfake detection.

The advancement of intelligent transportation systems underscores the importance of data-driven approaches in traffic forecasting, which plays a crucial role in tasks such as traffic signal control and route guidance, among others. However, the inherent uncertainty stemming from regional traffic dynamics, coupled with intricate spatio-temporal correlations, poses formidable challenges to accurate traffic prediction. Moreover, the complexities inherent in sequence forecasting across varying scales further exacerbate the accuracy dilemma. Recognizing the need for integrating information across spatial and temporal dimensions to enhance forecasting precision, a novel solution termed Spatial Temporal Masked Autoencoder (STMAE) is introduced. The STMAE framework addresses these challenges through a two-stage learning process. In the pre-training phase, an autoencoder architecture is employed to extract spatio-temporal features from the data. In the fine-tuning phase, the pre-trained encoder of the STMAE model undergoes further refinement to specifically target traffic forecasting tasks. Extensive evaluations validate the effectiveness of the proposed STMAE model. Notably, STMAE demonstrates competitive performance, achieving 3.32 Vehs MAE for long-term (60 min) traffic forecasting while operating within a reduced computational budget. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

A growing number of applications are moving to serverless architectures for high elasticity and fine-grained billing. For stateful applications, however, the use of serverless architectures is likely to lead to significant performance degradation, as frequent data sharing between different execution stages involves time-consuming remote storage access. Current platforms leverage memory cache to speed up remote access. However, conventional caching strategies show limited performance improvement. We experimentally find that the reason is that current strategies overlook the stage-dependent access patterns of stateful serverless applications, i.e., data that are read multiple times across stages (denoted as multi-read data) are wrongly evicted by data that are read only once (denoted as read-once data), causing a high cache miss ***, we propose a new caching strategy, Duo, whose design principle is to cache multi-read data as long as possible. Specifically, Duo contains a large cache list and a small cache list, which act as Leader list and Wingman list, respectively. Leader list ignores the data that is read for the first time to prevent itself from being polluted by massive read-once data at each stage. Wingman list inspects the data that are ignored or evicted by Leader list, and pre-fetches the data that will probably be read again based on the observation that multi-read data usually appear periodically in groups. Compared to the state-of-the-art works, Duo improves hit ratio by 1.1×-2.1× and reduces the data sharing overhead by 25%-62%.

All-in-one Weather-degraded Image Restoration via Adaptive Degradation-aware Self-prompting Model

Existing approaches for all-in-one weather-degraded image restoration suffer from inefficiencies in leveraging degradation-aware priors, resulting in sub-optimal performance in adapting to different weather conditions. To this end, we develop an adaptive degradation-aware self-prompting model (ADSM) for all-in-one weather-degraded image restoration. Specifically, our model employs the contrastive language-image pre-training model (CLIP) to facilitate the training of our proposed latent prompt generators (LPGs), which represent three types of latent prompts to characterize the degradation type, degradation property and image caption. Moreover, we integrate the acquired degradation-aware prompts into the time embedding of diffusion model to improve degradation perception. Meanwhile, we employ the latent caption prompt to guide the reverse sampling process using the cross-attention mechanism, thereby guiding the accurate image reconstruction. Furthermore, to accelerate the reverse sampling procedure of diffusion model and address the limitations of frequency perception, we introduce a wavelet-oriented noise estimating network (WNE-Net). Extensive experiments conducted on eight publicly available datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach in both task-specific and all-in-one applications. Efficient distributed algorithms for holistic aggregation functions on random regular graphs

In this paper, we propose efficient distributed algorithms for three holistic aggregation functions on random regular graphs that are good candidates for network topology in next-generation data *** three holistic aggregation functions include SELECTION（select the k-th largest or smallest element）,DISTINCT（query the count of distinct elements）, MODE（query the most frequent element）. We design three basic techniques — Pre-order Network Partition, Pairwise-independent Random Walk, and Random Permutation Delivery, and devise the algorithms based on the techniques. The round complexity of the distributed SELECTION is Θ（log N） which meets the lower bound where N is the number of nodes and each node holds a numeric element. The round complexity of the distributed DISTINCT and MODE algorithms are O（log3N/log log N） and O（log2N log log N） respectively. All of our results break the lower bounds obtained on general graphs and our distributed algorithms are all based on the CON GE S T model, which restricts each node to send only O（log N） bits on each edge in one round under synchronous communications.

Artificial intelligence(AI) systems surpass certain human intelligence abilities in a statistical sense as a whole, but are not yet the true realization of these human intelligence abilities and behaviors. There are differences, and even contradictions, between the cognition and behavior of AI systems and humans. With the goal of achieving general AI, this study contains a review of the role of cognitive science in inspiring the development of the three mainstream academic branches of AI based on the three-layer framework proposed by David Marr, and the limitations of the current development of AI are explored and analyzed. The differences and inconsistencies between the cognition mechanisms of the human brain and the computation mechanisms of AI systems are analyzed. They are found to be the cause of the differences and contradictions between the cognition and behavior of AI systems and humans. Additionally, eight important research directions and their scientific issues that need to focus on braininspired AI research are proposed: highly imitated bionic information processing, a large-scale deep learning model that balances structure and function, multi-granularity joint problem solving bidirectionally driven by data and knowledge, AI models that simulate specific brain structures, a collaborative processing mechanism with the physical separation of perceptual processing and interpretive analysis, embodied intelligence that integrates the brain cognitive mechanism and AI computation mechanisms,intelligence simulation from individual intelligence to group intelligence(social intelligence), and AI-assisted brain cognitive intelligence.

Networking technology is expanded along with cyber threats. Cyber threats are the instances which adversely influences the functional operations of the system or network. It results in various issues such as illegal access, data leakage, data stolen, DDoS attacks, etc. To overcome such issues, several intrusion detection systems are implemented over the past years. Though, these intrusion detection systems exhibit several limitations while trying to achieve excellent efficiency in attack detection. In this survey, totally 50 cyber-attack detection based research works are analysed under several perspectives. The analysis is done on several IDS techniques implemented in existing works. The reviewed learning-based approaches are explained in two major categories as ML and DL approaches. Here, the ML algorithms are further classified into three types: supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning approaches. Moreover, the existing works are also analysed in accordance with optimization algorithms and it is classified as metaheuristic and stochastic algorithms. In which, population-based algorithms and swarm-based algorithms are the categories classified under metaheuristic algorithms. In addition, the analyses are also performed on datasets usage and cyber-attack mitigation models. Furthermore, the analysis on existing works is done on performance analysis. And it is analysed under performance of cyber-attack detection models with specific description about maximum and minimum performance attained by recent works on cyber-attack detection models. Finally, the chronological review and challenges involved in existing cyber-attack detection models are discussed.
