Nowadays, Sitting is one of the frequent activities of humans. particularly with the rise of office work, which is leading to an increase in the sitting periods for many individuals. Research highlights the importance of studying sitting posture to enhance seat quality, correct sitting methods, and prevent various health issues like neck and shoulder strains, etc. This article focuses on designing an IoT-based system that enables web-based data visualization without specialized software that can enable distance sampling. Through temperature sensors (DS18b20 and SHT11) and an FSR sensor, the system can identify distinct patterns in the main rhomboid muscles (the most important muscles of humans). The results show a significant relationship between individuals' body mass (BMI) and the observed muscle patterns, highlighting the importance of this correlation for researchers and industry designers alike.

Internet of things is an important part of our day-to-day life where all things are connected in the network with the internet. The number of devices linked to the network grows steadily each day in recent years. The innovation in the manufacturing industry also the reason for the production of different devices that uses various technologies to make a possible connection between the devices. Even though the Internet of Things has been developing and demonstrating its potential in recent years, its security when connected to the internet is in doubt. Blockchain is a disruptive technology that provides security to their network without tampering with the data in the network. Researchers and experts have recommended using the blockchain to address security vulnerabilities in the Internet of Things. In this paper, we have analyzed some of the issues which are occurring while integrating blockchain into the Internet of things. The major issues were discussed and which will be helpful to move towards the research direction to solve those problems.

In the past several years,remarkable achievements have been made in the field of object *** performance is generally improving,the accuracy of small object detection remains low compared with that of large object *** addition,localization misalignment issues are common for small objects,as seen in GoogLeNets and residual networks(ResNets).To address this problem,we propose an improved region-based fully convolutional network(R-FCN).The presented technique improves detection accuracy and eliminates localization misalignment by replacing positionsensitive region of interest(PS-RoI)pooling with position-sensitive precise region of interest(PS-Pr-RoI)pooling,which avoids coordinate quantization and directly calculates two-order integrals for position-sensitive score maps,thus preventing a loss of spatial precision.A validation experiment was conducted in which the Microsoft common objects in context(MS COCO)training dataset was *** showed an accuracy improvement of 3.7%for object detection tasks and an increase of 6.0%for small objects.

Multi-Scale Semantic Communication for Object Detection: Single and Cross-Domain Scenarios

With the rapid popularity of vision-driven communication applications, object detection has become one of the fundamental techniques for performing practical vision tasks. In traditional communication systems, images are compressed for transmission, reconstructed at the receiver, and then processed by existing object detection algorithms. However, transmitting large amounts of images consumes significant storage and communication resources. To address this challenge, a semantic communication-based image reconstruction scheme has been proposed for object detection, which transmits only the semantic information relevant to image reconstruction. However, this method is prone to losing key information, such as object position and texture details, leading to degraded object detection performance. Additionally, it is sensitive to environmental factors such as weather and lighting, resulting in poor adaptability across multiple scenarios. To address these issues, we propose a multiscale semantic communication framework for object detection that transmits only multi-scale semantic features relevant to the task and employs decoupling at the receiver to separate positional and classification information of target objects without requiring image reconstruction. To improve adaptability across multiple scenarios, we introduce a cross-domain object detection technique that ensures reliable object detection in new scenarios by optimizing the framework’s multi-scale semantic encoder through domain adversarial learning. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves mean average precision improvements of 15.4% ~ 38.5% over the traditional communication framework within low to medium signal-to-noise ratio regions in additive white Gaussian noise and Rayleigh fading channels. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

The brain is able to acquire and store memories of everyday experiences in real-time. It can also selectively forget information to facilitate memory updating. However, our understanding of the underlying mechanisms and coordination of these processes within the brain remains limited. However, no existing artificial intelligence models have yet matched human-level capabilities in terms of memory storage and retrieval. This study introduces a brain-inspired spiking neural model that integrates the learning and forgetting processes of sequential memory. The proposed model closely mimics the distributed and sparse temporal coding observed in the biological neural system. It employs one-shot online learning for memory formation and uses biologically plausible mechanisms of neural oscillation and phase precession to retrieve memorized sequences reliably. In addition, an active forgetting mechanism is integrated into the spiking neural model, enabling memory removal, flexibility, and updating. The proposed memory model not only enhances our understanding of human memory processes but also provides a robust framework for addressing temporal modeling tasks.

In this paper, we propose a novel architecture for a multi-layer active-passive cascade transmitting reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided receiver. We aim at enhancing the scalability of antenna dimensions and energy efficiency for user equipment (UE), as well as improving the amplitude freedom of antenna gain. This architecture integrates reflecting RIS for applications in both jamming and anti-jamming scenarios. We formulate a problem to maximize the worst-case spectral efficiency (SE) of the UE, based on imperfect channel state information (CSI) of the malicious device, thereby ensuring the SE of our UE while disrupting the signal reception of the illegal UE. To address the inherently non-convex nature of the formulated problem, we propose an alternating optimization framework, which decomposes the main problem into several subproblems. Specifically, we uniformly discretize the uncertain domains to obtain robust CSI, allowing us to determine an optimal receiver vector. To balance computational complexity and performance, we propose solutions for the subproblems of base station beamforming and coefficients with different patterns of RIS. Furthermore, to effectively disrupt malicious inter-device communication while avoiding detection and localization, we develop a collaborative interference pattern incorporating silent interference and non-interference protocols. Importantly, the pattern carefully balances performance with the overhead of CSI acquisition. Finally, simulation results validate the efficiency of the proposed algorithms, demonstrating that the proposed architecture achieves better jamming and anti-jamming performance. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Graph for Science: From API based Programming to Graph Engine based Programming for HPC

Modern scientific applications predominantly run on large-scale computing platforms, necessitating collaboration between scientific domain experts and high-performance computing (HPC) experts. While domain experts are often skilled in customizing domain-specific scientific computing routines, which often involves various matrix computations, HPC experts are essential for achieving efficient execution of these computations on large-scale platforms. This process often involves utilizing complex parallel computing libraries tailored to specific matrix computation scenarios. However, the intricate programming procedure and the need for deep understanding in both application domains and HPC poses significant challenges to the widespread adoption of scientific computing. In this research, we observe that matrix computations can be transformed into equivalent graph representations, and that by utilizing graph processing engines, HPC experts can be freed from the burden of implementing efficient scientific computations. Based on this observation, we introduce a graph engine-based scientific computing (Graph for Science) paradigm, which provides a unified graph programming interface, enabling domain experts to promptly implement various types of matrix computations. The proposed paradigm leverages the underlying graph processing engine to achieve efficient execution, eliminating the needs for HPC expertise in programming large-scale scientific applications. We evaluate the performance of the developed graph compute engine for three typical scientific computing routines. Our results demonstrate that the graph engine-based scientific computing paradigm achieves performance comparable to the best-performing implementations based on existing parallel computing libraries and bespoke implementations. The emergence of large-scale dynamic sets in real applications brings severe challenges in approximate set representation structures. A dynamic set with changing cardinality requires an elastic capacity of the approximate set representation structure, while traditional static structures, e.g., bloom filter, cuckoo filter, and their variants cannot satisfy the requirements. Existing dynamic approximate set representation structures only provide filter-level extensions, which require a single membership query to probe all discrete filters one by one. The large number of small discrete memory accesses takes up the vast majority of query time and results in unsatisfied query performance. To address the problem, in this work we propose the entry-extensible cuckoo filter (E2CF) to reduce memory access overhead for dynamic set representation and accelerate the membership query. E2CF utilizes adjacent buckets with continuous physical addresses in a cuckoo filter to extend bucket entries, which avoids many discrete memory accesses in a query. To further make E2CF space and time efficient, we adopt asynchronous extension and fine-grained splitting methods. Experiment results show that compared to state-of-the-art designs, E2CF reduces the query and insertion time by 82% and 28%, respectively. © 2021, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

GAEM: Graph-driven Attention-based Entropy Model for LiDAR Point Cloud Compression

High-quality LiDAR point cloud (LPC) coding is essential for efficiently transmitting and storing the vast amounts of data required for accurate 3D environmental representation. The Octree-based entropy coding framework has emerged as the predominant method, however, previous study usually overly relies on large-scale attention-based context prediction to encode Octree nodes, overlooking the inherent correlational properties of this structure. In this paper, we propose a novel Graph-driven Attention-based Entropy Model (GAEM), which adopts partitioned graph attention mechanisms to uncover contextual dependencies among neighboring nodes. Different from the Cartesian coordinate-based coding mode with higher redundancy, GAEM uses the multi-level spherical Octree to organize point clouds, improving the quality of LPC reconstruction. GAEM combines graph convolution for node feature embedding and grouped-graph attention for exploiting dependency among contexts, which preserves performance in low-computation using localized nodes. Besides, to further increase the receptive field, we design a high-resolution cross-attention module introducing sibling nodes. Experimental results show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on the LiDAR benchmark SemanticKITTI and MPEG-specified dataset Ford, compared to all baselines. Compared to the benchmark GPCC, our method achieves gains of up to 53.9% and 53.6% on SemanticKITTI and Ford while compared to the sibling-introduced methods, we achieve up to 42.3% and 44.7% savings in encoding/decoding time. In particular, our GAEM allows for extension to downstream tasks (i.e., vehicle detection and semantic segmentation), further demonstrating the practicality of the method. Self-supervised Topic Taxonomy Discovery in the Box Embedding Space

Topic taxonomy discovery aims at uncovering topics of different abstraction levels and constructing hierarchical relations between them. Unfortunately, most of prior work can hardly model semantic scopes of words and topics by holding the Euclidean embedding space assumption. What’s worse, they infer asymmetric hierarchical relations by symmetric distances between topic embeddings. As a result, existing methods suffer from problems of low-quality topics at high abstraction levels and inaccurate hierarchical relations. To alleviate these problems, this paper develops a Box embedding-based Topic Model (BoxTM) that maps words and topics into the box embedding space, where the asymmetric metric is defined to properly infer hierarchical relations among topics. Additionally, our BoxTM explicitly infers upper-level topics based on correlation between specific topics through recursive clustering on topic boxes. Finally, extensive experiments validate high-quality of the topic taxonomy learned by BoxTM. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
