Background: The automated classification of videos through artificial neural networks is addressed in this work. To explore the concepts and measure the results, the data set UCF101 is used, consisting of video clips taken from YouTube to recognize actions. The study is carried out with the authors' resources to determine the feasibility of independent research in the area. Methods: This work was developed in the Python programming language using the Keras library with Tensorflow as the back-end. The objective is to develop a network that presents performance compatible with the state of the art in terms of classifying videos according to the actions taken. Results: Given the hardware limitations, there is considerable distance between the implementation possibilities in this work and what is known as the state-of-the-art. Conclusion: Throughout the work, some aspects in which this limitation influenced the development are presented, but it is shown that this realization is feasible and that obtaining expressive results is possible 98.6% accuracy is obtained in the UCF101 data set, compared to the 98 percentage points of the best result ever reported, using, however, considerably fewer resources. In addition, the importance of transfer learning in achieving expressive results as well as the different performances of each architecture are reviewed. Thus, this work may open doors to carry patent-based outcomes. © 2025 Bentham Science Publishers.

Cassava is an essential food item in the tropics, it may origin enormous productivity decreases in cassava, leading to significant financial losses and a shortage of basic foods. Small-scale farmers grow the essential food and nutrition crop cassava because it can withstand harsh conditions. In many African nations, it provides a substantial source of carbohydrates. Leaf infections can occasionally harm cassava crops, limiting total productivity and farmers' income. In this study, Pre trained models are utilized for the determination of disease identification and classification on plant leaf issues. VGG 16 has been put into use, and its performance has been examined. An exploratory study is carried out using an online Cassava image collection, which contains pictures of Cassava leaves afflicted with five different disease categories. The vgg16 classifier that was suggested surpasses its competitors greatly and achieves an accuracy of 97.58%. The results of the test demonstrate that improving classification performance by using a database of images that is well balanced is possible. © 2023 IEEE.

There is an enormous increase in number of diseases worldwide. The non-communicable diseases such as cardio vascular disease will leads to death. The second major reason of death in people worldwide occurs due to stroke. It affects any portion of brain due to interruption or reduction of Blood supply. The brain damage can be reduced if required actions taken earlier. So there is necessary requirement to build stroke predictive models. The combined techniques of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques play the vital role in Disease Prediction. There are many researches has been done for stroke prediction using various ML Algorithms. In order to improve accuracy, the proposed model will work on the hybrid ANNRF (Artificial Neural Network-Random Forest). The proposed method can be reached 94% in classification accuracy. © 2022 IEEE.

Federated Learning (FL) has significant potential to protect data privacy and mitigate network burden in mobile edge computing (MEC) networks. However, due to the system and data heterogeneity of mobile clients (MCs), client selection and bandwidth allocation is key for achieving cost-efficient FL in MEC networks with limited bandwidth. To address these challenges, we investigate the issue of joint client selection and bandwidth allocation for reducing the cost (i.e., latency and energy consumption) of FL training. We formulate the problem and decompose it into a holistic subproblem to reduce the number of rounds and a partial subproblem to reduce the costs of FL each round. We propose a joint class-balanced client selection and bandwidth allocation (CBCSBA) framework to address the whole problem. Specifically, for the holistic subproblem, CBCSBA combines MCs into groups, each having data distribution as close as possible to class-balanced distribution;For the partial subproblem, CBCSBA reduces costs by exploratively selecting a group and sequentially optimizing the latency and energy consumption of MCs within the group. Experimental results show that CBCSBA outperforms the baseline frameworks in reducing latency by 28.2% and energy consumption by 25.3% on average in the considered four datasets. Emerging persistent memory (PM) technologies offer data persistence at close-to-DRAM latency, causing the legacy multi-layer storage stack to become a bottleneck. On the other hand, PM improves I/O efficiency while also introducing unique hardware features that require software modifications to exploit them. In this paper, we propose HYTE, a native table storage engine for hybrid memory, which abstracts the data service for the database’s table. HYTE performs a cross-layer design across the file system and storage engine to avoid the pitfalls of layered abstraction and provides SQL-compatible APIs. Meanwhile, it co-designs with PM’s properties to unlock the hardware’s performance potential. Furthermore, HYTE is hotness-aware and equipped with a suite of lightweight, customized fetching and eviction strategies. Our evaluation shows that HYTE can perform up to 1.4-7.2× better than existing state-of-the-art PM-based storage systems in industry and academia. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

Temporal Knowledge Graph (TKG) reasoning, aiming to predict future unknown facts based on historical information, has attracted considerable attention due to its great practical value. Insight into history is the key to predict the future. However, most existing TKG reasoning models singly capture repetitive history, ignoring the entity's multi-hop neighbour history which can provide valuable background knowledge for TKG reasoning. In this paper, we propose Multi-Granularity History and Entity Similarity Learning (MGESL) model for Temporal Knowledge Graph Reasoning, which models historical information from both coarse-grained and fine-grained history. Since similar entities tend to exhibit similar behavioural patterns, we also design a hypergraph convolution aggregator to capture the similarity between entities. Furthermore, we introduce a more realistic setting for the TKG reasoning, where candidate entities are already known at the timestamp to be predicted. Extensive experiments on three benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed model. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

There is growing research interest in measuring the statistical heterogeneity of clients’ local datasets. Such measurements are used to estimate the suitability for collaborative training of personalized federated learning (PFL) models. Currently, these research endeavors are taking place in silos and there is a lack of a unified benchmark to provide a fair and convenient comparison among various approaches in common settings. We aim to bridge this important gap in this paper. The proposed benchmarking framework currently includes six representative approaches. Extensive experiments have been conducted to compare these approaches under five standard non-IID FL settings, providing much needed insights into which approaches are advantageous under which settings. The proposed framework offers useful guidance on the suitability of various data divergence measures in FL systems. It is beneficial for keeping related research activities on the right track in terms of: (1) designing PFL schemes, (2) selecting appropriate data heterogeneity evaluation approaches for specific FL application scenarios, and (3) addressing fairness issues in collaborative model training. Multi-version graph processing has been widely used to solve many real-world problems. The process of the multi-version graph processing typically includes: (1) a history graph version switching at a specific time and (2) graph processing on this history graph. Existing multi-version graph systems assume ideally that every request for a particular graph version at a particular time will have a corresponding snapshot available. However, in most cases, this is not true. Then existing solutions usually have to settle with an "approximating"version as a substitute, leading to unexpected results for the underlying graph algorithm and thus reducing the practicality of a multi-version graph system for many application scenarios *** this paper, we observe that only a few graph updates have a great impact on the final results. We therefore present AFaVS, a novel multi-version graph system that can improve accuracy effectively in both time- and memory-efficient manners. The cornerstone of AFaVS lies in a novel concept "value"that characterizes the importance of graph updates. AFaVS proposes differential management of updates based on their values and achieves higher accuracy while preserving processing and memory efficiency. AFaVS is also equipped with value-guided version switching and locality-aware optimizations to boost its overall efficiency. Our results on a variety of real-world datasets show that AFaVS outperforms four state-of-the-art multi-version graph systems by 74.35%~95.72% in terms of accuracy improvement and 57.03%~90.44% in terms of memory reduction while introducing less than 2.96% extra computing time. We have deployed AFaVS in a disaster recovery system on the production cluster of Alibaba, achieving 78.8%~90.1% fewer error rates than advanced systems at a comparable efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

Federated Learning (FL) is a promising decentralized machine learning framework that enables a massive number of clients (e.g., smartphones) to collaboratively train a global model over the Internet without sacrificing their privacy. Though FL’s efficacy in non-convex problems is proven, its convergence amidst biased client participation lacks theoretical study. In this paper, we analyze the convergence of FedAvg on non-convex problems, which is the most renowned FL algorithm. We assume even data distribution but non-IID among clients, and elucidate the convergence rate of FedAvg in situations characterized by biased client participation. Our analysis reveals that biased client participation can significantly reduce the precision of the FL model. We validate this through trace-driven experiments, demonstrating that unbiased client participation results in 11% to 50% higher test accuracy compared to extremely biased client participation. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
