Wireless Human-Machine Collaboration (WHMC) represents a critical advancement for Industry 5.0, enabling seamless interaction between humans and machines across geographically distributed systems. As the WHMC systems become increasingly important for achieving complex collaborative control tasks, ensuring their stability is essential for practical deployment and long-term operation. Stability analysis certifies how the closed-loop system will behave under model randomness, which is essential for systems operating with wireless communications. However, the fundamental stability analysis of the WHMC systems remains an unexplored challenge due to the intricate interplay between the stochastic nature of wireless communications, dynamic human operations, and the inherent complexities of control system dynamics. This paper establishes a fundamental WHMC model incorporating dual wireless loops for machine and human control. Our framework accounts for practical factors such as short-packet transmissions, fading channels, and advanced HARQ schemes. We model human control lag as a Markov process, which is crucial for capturing the stochastic nature of human interactions. Building on this model, we propose a stochastic cycle-cost-based approach to derive a stability condition for the WHMC system, expressed in terms of wireless channel statistics, human dynamics, and control parameters. Our findings are validated through extensive numerical simulations and a proof-of-concept experiment, where we developed and tested a novel wireless collaborative cart-pole control system. Hypergraph Neural Networks (HGNNs) are increasingly utilized to analyze complex inter-entity relationships. Traditional HGNN systems, based on a hyperedge-centric dataflow model, independently process aggregation tasks for hyperedges and vertices, leading to significant computational redundancy. This redundancy arises from recalculating shared information across different tasks. For the first time, we identify and harness implicit dataflows (i.e., dependencies) within HGNNs, introducing the microedge concept to effectively capture and reuse intricate shared information among aggregation tasks, thereby minimizing redundant computations. We have developed a new microedge-centric dataflow model that processes shared information as fine-grained microedge aggregation tasks. This dataflow model is supported by the Read-Process-Activate-Generate execution model, which aims to optimize parallelism among these tasks. Furthermore, our newly developed MeHyper, a microedge-centric HGNN accelerator, incorporates a decoupled pipeline for improved computational parallelism and a hierarchical feature management strategy to reduce off-chip memory accesses for large volumes of intermediate feature vectors generated. Our evaluation demonstrates that MeHyper substantially outperforms the leading CPUbased system PyG-CPU and the GPU-based system HyperGef, delivering performance improvements of $1,032.23 \times$ and $10.51 \times$, and energy efficiencies of $1,169.03 \times$ and $9.96 \times$, respectively.

Image matting is a foundation task in the field of computer vision. Pixel-pair-optimization-based image matting methods have attracted lots of attention due to their distinct advantages on parallelization and handling spatially disconnected foregrounds. However, these methods struggle when the computing time is limited. To address this issue, this study presents the image matting method based on matting pyramid and surrogate model (IMMPSM). IMMPSM speeds up the process of pixel pair optimization by replaces the evolutionary algorithm in the pyramid matting framework, which consumes a lot of computing time, with the efficient surrogate-model-based method. The constructed surrogate model is reused by the presented surrogate model share strategy to save computing time. Specifically, the constructed surrogate model is shared with the pixel pair optimization subproblem adjacent to current subproblem avoiding repeated computation on the surrogate model construction. Extensive experimental results show that IMMPSM can provide acceptable alpha mattes even under limited computing time. © 2023 IEEE.

Code summarization facilitates program comprehension and software maintenance by converting code snippets into natural-language descriptions. Over the years, numerous methods have been developed for this task, but a key challenge remains: effectively evaluating the quality of generated summaries. While human evaluation is effective for assessing code summary quality, it is labor-intensive and difficult to scale. Commonly used automatic metrics, such as BLEU, ROUGE-L, METEOR, and BERTScore, often fail to align closely with human judgments. In this paper, we explore the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) for evaluating code summarization. We propose CODERPE (Role-Player for Code Summarization Evaluation), a novel method that leverages role-player prompting to assess the quality of generated summaries. Specifically, we prompt an LLM agent to play diverse roles, such as code reviewer, code author, code editor, and system analyst. Each role evaluates the quality of code summaries across key dimensions, including coherence, consistency, fluency, and relevance. We further explore the robustness of LLMs as evaluators by employing various prompting strategies, including chain-of-thought reasoning, in-context learning, and tailored rating form designs. The results demonstrate that LLMs serve as effective evaluators for code summarization methods. Notably, our LLM-based evaluator, CODERPE, achieves an 81.59% Spearman correlation with human evaluations, outperforming the existing BERTScore metric by 17.27%. © 2024, CC BY.

Traditional unlearnable strategies have been proposed to prevent unauthorized users from training on the 2D image data. With more 3D point cloud data containing sensitivity information, unauthorized usage of this new type data has also become a serious concern. To address this, we propose the first integral unlearnable framework for 3D point clouds including two processes: (i) we propose an unlearnable data protection scheme, involving a class-wise setting established by a category-adaptive allocation strategy and multi-transformations assigned to samples;(ii) we propose a data restoration scheme that utilizes class-wise inverse matrix transformation, thus enabling authorized-only training for unlearnable data. This restoration process is a practical issue overlooked in most existing unlearnable literature, i.e., even authorized users struggle to gain knowledge from 3D unlearnable data. Both theoretical and empirical results (including 6 datasets, 16 models, and 2 tasks) demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed unlearnable framework. Major depressive disorder (MDD) is one of the most common and severe mental illnesses, posing a huge burden on society and families. Recently, some multimodal methods have been proposed to learn a multimodal embedding for MDD detection and achieved promising performance. However, these methods ignore the heterogeneity/homogeneity among various modalities. Besides, earlier attempts ignore interclass separability and intraclass compactness. Inspired by the above observations, we propose a graph neural network (GNN)-based multimodal fusion strategy named modal-shared modal-specific GNN, which investigates the heterogeneity/homogeneity among various psychophysiological modalities as well as explores the potential relationship between subjects. Specifically, we develop a modal-shared and modal-specific GNN architecture to extract the inter/intramodal characteristics. Furthermore, a reconstruction network is employed to ensure fidelity within the individual modality. Moreover, we impose an attention mechanism on various embeddings to obtain a multimodal compact representation for the subsequent MDD detection task. We conduct extensive experiments on two public depression datasets and the favorable results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Unifying Multitrack Music Arrangement via Reconstruction Fine-Tuning and Efficient Tokenization

Automatic music arrangement streamlines the creation of musical variants for composers and arrangers, reducing reliance on extensive music expertise. However, existing methods suffer from inefficient tokenization, underutilization of pretrained music language models (LMs), and suboptimal fidelity and coherence in generated arrangements. This paper introduces an efficient multitrack music tokenizer for unconditional and conditional symbolic music generation, along with a unified sequence-to-sequence reconstruction fine-tuning objective for pre-trained music LMs that balances task-specific needs with coherence constraints. Our approach achieves state-of-the-art results on band arrangement, piano reduction, and drum arrangement, surpassing task-specific models in both objective metrics and perceptual quality. Additionally, we demonstrate that generative pretraining significantly contributes to the performance across these arrangement tasks, especially when handling long segments with complex alignment. Animal stereotypes are deeply embedded in human culture and language. They often shape our perceptions and expectations of various species. Our study investigates how animal stereotypes manifest in vision-language models during the task of image generation. Through targeted prompts, we explore whether DALL-E perpetuates stereotypical representations of animals, such as "owls as wise," "foxes as unfaithful," etc. Our findings reveal significant stereotyped instances where the model consistently generates images aligned with cultural biases. The current work is the first of its kind to examine animal stereotyping in vision-language models systematically and to highlight a critical yet underexplored dimension of bias in AI-generated visual content. Micro-expression recognition (MER) is a critical task in affective computing, yet it remains challenging due to the subtle, brief, and involuntary nature of micro-expressions. Existing methods often find it difficult to spot these quick micro facial expressions (MFEs), especially when there are obstacles, background noise, or differences between people. In this study, we propose a novel approach that integrates the Broadbent Attention Mechanism into a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to enhance MER. This attention mechanism is designed to focus on the most informative regions of facial images, improving the model's ability to extract relevant features and discard irrelevant information. The model is evaluated on the SAMM dataset, covering various emotions. Extensive experiments are conducted using both K-fold and Stratified K-fold cross-validation techniques to ensure a robust evaluation process. The proposed method achieves high accuracy 99.72%, precision 99.73%, Recall 99.72% and f1-Score 99.72% with Stratified K-fold & accuracy 99.65%, precision 99.65%, Recall 99.66% and f'1-Score 99.65% with K-fold, outperforming baseline models and demonstrating its effectiveness in recognizing subtle micro-expressions. These results indicate that the Broadbent Attention Mechanism significantly enhances accuracy and robustness of MER systems, offering a promising solution for applications in human-computer interaction (HCI) and emotion analysis. © 2024 IEEE.
