Fuzzy knowledge based intelligent decision support system for ground based air defence

This research proposes an Intelligent Decision Support System for Ground-Based Air Defense (GBAD) environments, which consist of Defended Assets (DA) on the ground that require protection from enemy aerial threats. A Fire Control Officer is responsible for assessing threats and assigning the most appropriate weapon to neutralize them. However, the decision-making process can be prone to errors, risking resource wastage and endangering DA protection. To address this problem, this research proposes a hybrid approach that combines a knowledge-driven fuzzy inference system with machine learning models to optimize resource allocation while incorporating expert knowledge in the decision-making process. Since sensory data obtained from multiple radars may be incomplete or incorrect, a fuzzy knowledge graph-based system is used for data fusion and providing it to the connected modules. Feature selection is optimized by including the most important parameters, such as the vitality of defended assets and threat score, in the threat evaluation. The results from these subsystems are visualized using a Geographical Information System, allowing for real-time mapping of the GBAD environment and displaying the results in a user-friendly web interface. The proposed system has undergone rigorous testing and evaluation, resulting in an efficient and accurate weapon assignment model with a low RMSE value of 0.037. Overall, this Intelligent Decision Support System provides an effective solution for optimizing decision-making processes in GBAD environments and can significantly improve DA protection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Adam has become one of the most favored optimizers in deep learning problems. Despite its success in practice, numerous mysteries persist regarding its theoretical understanding. In this paper, we study the implicit bias of Adam in linear logistic regression. Specifically, we show that when the training data are linearly separable, the iterates of Adam converge towards a linear classifier that achieves the maximum ∞-margin in direction. Notably, for a general class of diminishing learning rates, this convergence occurs within polynomial time. Our result shed light on the difference between Adam and (stochastic) gradient descent from a theoretical perspective. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. All rights reserved.

data race is one of the most important concurrent anomalies in multi-threaded *** con-straint-based techniques are leveraged into race detection,which is able to find all the races that can be found by any oth-er sound race ***,this constraint-based approach has serious limitations on helping programmers analyze and understand data ***,it may report a large number of false positives due to the unrecognized dataflow propa-gation of the ***,it recommends a wide range of thread context switches to schedule the reported race(in-cluding the false one)whenever this race is exposed during the constraint-solving *** ad hoc recommendation imposes too many context switches,which complicates the data race *** address these two limitations in the state-of-the-art constraint-based race detection,this paper proposes DFTracker,an improved constraint-based race detec-tor to recommend each data race with minimal thread context ***,we reduce the false positives by ana-lyzing and tracking the dataflow in the *** this means,DFTracker thus reduces the unnecessary analysis of false race *** further propose a novel algorithm to recommend an effective race schedule with minimal thread con-text switches for each data *** experimental results on the real applications demonstrate that 1)without removing any true data race,DFTracker effectively prunes false positives by 68%in comparison with the state-of-the-art constraint-based race detector;2)DFTracker recommends as low as 2.6-8.3(4.7 on average)thread context switches per data race in the real world,which is 81.6%fewer context switches per data race than the state-of-the-art constraint based race ***,DFTracker can be used as an effective tool to understand the data race for programmers.

Recent advances in IoT technologies have led to the rise of home automation (HA) systems, greatly improving users' daily life quality. With the growing use of smart devices in homes, event sensors play a key role by reporting physical events like doors opening or lights turning on, automatically or manually. However, these sensor reports can be unreliable due to faults or active attackers, leading to false events (event spoofing). This is critical, as smart homes can trigger event chains without user involvement. Therefore, verifying the authenticity of physical events is important in securing smart home automation systems. Despite increasing attention from academia and industry, no survey has yet summarized HA systems' security research on physical event verification. This paper provides a comprehensive review of physical event verification and future research directions. © 2024 IEEE.

ARCHER:a ReRAM-based accelerator for compressed recommendation systems

Modern recommendation systems are widely used in modern data *** random and sparse embedding lookup operations are the main performance bottleneck for processing recommendation systems on traditional platforms as they induce abundant data movements between computing units and ***-based processing-in-memory(PIM)can resolve this problem by processing embedding vectors where they are ***,the embedding table can easily exceed the capacity limit of a monolithic ReRAM-based PIM chip,which induces off-chip accesses that may offset the PIM ***,we deploy the decomposed model on-chip and leverage the high computing efficiency of ReRAM to compensate for the decompression performance *** this paper,we propose ARCHER,a ReRAM-based PIM architecture that implements fully yon-chip recommendations under resource ***,we make a full analysis of the computation pattern and access pattern on the decomposed *** on the computation pattern,we unify the operations of each layer of the decomposed model in multiply-and-accumulate *** on the access observation,we propose a hierarchical mapping schema and a specialized hardware design to maximize resource *** the unified computation and mapping strategy,we can coordinatethe inter-processing elements *** evaluation shows that ARCHER outperforms the state-of-the-art GPU-based DLRM system,the state-of-the-art near-memory processing recommendation system RecNMP,and the ReRAM-based recommendation accelerator REREC by 15.79×,2.21×,and 1.21× in terms of performance and 56.06×,6.45×,and 1.71× in terms of energy savings,respectively.

Resource investment for DDoS attack resistant SDN: a practical assessment

Software-defined networks(SDNs) present a novel network architecture that is widely used in various datacenters. However, SDNs also suffer from many types of security threats, among which a distributed denial of service(DDoS) attack, which aims to drain the resources of SDN switches and controllers,is one of the most common. Once the switch or controller is damaged, the network services can be *** defense schemes against DDoS attacks have been proposed from the perspective of attack detection;however, such defense schemes are known to suffer from a time consuming and unpromising accuracy, which could result in an unavailable network service before specific countermeasures are taken. To address this issue through a systematic investigation, we propose an elaborate resource-management mechanism against DDoS attacks in an SDN. Specifically, by considering the SDN topology, we leverage the M/M/c queuing model to measure the resistance of an SDN to DDoS attacks. Network administrators can therefore invest a reasonable number of resources into SDN switches and SDN controllers to defend against DDoS attacks while guaranteeing the quality of service(QoS). Comprehensive analyses and empirical data-based experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The pandemic creates a more complicated providence of medical assistance and diagnosis procedures. In the world, Covid-19, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS Cov-2), and plague are widely known pandemic disease desperations. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic tragedies, various medical diagnosis models and intelligent computing solutions are proposed for medical applications. In this era of computer-based medical environment, conventional clinical solutions are surpassed by many Machine Learning and Deep Learning-based COVID-19 diagnosis models. Anyhow, many existing models are developing lab-based diagnosis environments. Notably, the Gated Recurrent Unit-based Respiratory data Analysis (GRU-RE), Intelligent Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-based Covid data Analysis (Thermal Images) (I-UVAC), and Convolutional Neural Network-based Computer Tomography Image Analysis (CNN-CT) are enriched with lightweight image data analysis techniques for obtaining mass pandemic data at real-time conditions. However, the existing models directly deal with bulk images (thermal data and respiratory data) to diagnose the symptoms of COVID-19. Against these works, the proposed spectacle thermal image data analysis model creates an easy and effective way of disease diagnosis deployment strategies. Particularly, the mass detection of disease symptoms needs a more lightweight equipment setup. In this proposed model, each patient's thermal data is collected via the spectacles of medical staff, and the data are analyzed with the help of a complex set of capsule network functions. Comparatively, the conventional capsule network functions are enriched in this proposed model using adequate sampling and data reduction solutions. In this way, the proposed model works effectively for mass thermal data diagnosis applications. In today's era, deep learning neural networks with multiple hidden layers have been widely used in many fields. The deep learning method has more powerful features that enhance the method's performance by a learning process. With the development of the logistics industry and the prevalence of autonomous driving, traffic sign recognition has gained rising attention. This study uses a YOLO CNN to classify traffic signs. To improve model performance, we used MSRCR image augmentation during preprocessing. In the improvement phase, we used YOLOv5 to automate traffic sign categorization and improved training methods and network architecture. GTSRB and CCTSDB were used to assess the proposed technique. The experimental results show that the YOLOv5 model outperforms other methods. It has a 99.8% accuracy rate in the GTSRB dataset and 98.4% precision in the CCTSDB. © 2024 IEEE.
