The binary neural network, largely saving the storage and computation, serves as a promising technique for deploying deep models on resource-limited devices. However, the binarization inevitably causes severe information loss, and even worse, its discontinuity brings difficulty to the optimization of the deep network. To address these issues, a variety of algorithms have been proposed, and achieved satisfying progress in recent years. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey of these algorithms, mainly categorized into the native solutions directly conducting binarization, and the optimized ones using techniques like minimizing the quantization error, improving the network loss function, and reducing the gradient error. We also investigate other practical aspects of binary neural networks such as the hardware-friendly design and the training tricks. Then, we give the evaluation and discussions on different tasks, including image classification, object detection and semantic segmentation. Urban green space has been regarded as contributing to citizen happiness by promoting physical and mental health. However, how urban green space and happiness are related across many countries of different socioeconomic conditions has not been explained well. By measuring urban green space score (UGS) from high-resolution Sentinel-2 satellite imagery of 90 global cities that in total cover 179,168 km2 and include 230 million people in 60 developed countries, we reveal that the amount of urban green space and the GDP can explain the happiness level of the country. More precisely, urban green space and GDP are each individually associated with happiness;happiness in the 30 wealthiest countries is explained only by urban green space, whereas GDP alone explains happiness in the 30 other countries in this study. Lastly, we further show that the relationship between urban green space and happiness is mediated by social support and that GDP moderates the relationship between social support and happiness, which underlines the importance of maintaining urban green space as a place for social cohesion in promoting people’s happiness. © 2021, CC BY.

Dengue is a major threat to public health in Brazil, the world's sixth biggest country by population, with over 1.5 million cases recorded in 2019 alone. Official data on dengue case counts is delivered incrementally and, for many reasons, often subject to delays of weeks. In contrast, data on dengue-related Google searches and Twitter messages is available in full with no delay. Here, we describe a model which uses online data to deliver improved weekly estimates of dengue incidence in Rio de Janeiro. We address a key shortcoming of previous online data disease surveillance models by explicitly accounting for the incremental delivery of case count data, to ensure that our approach can be used in practice. We also draw on data from Google Trends and Twitter in tandem, and demonstrate that this leads to slightly better estimates than a model using only one of these data streams alone. Our results provide evidence that online data can be used to improve both the accuracy and precision of rapid estimates of disease incidence, even where the underlying case count data is subject to long and varied delays. © 2021, CC BY.

Tourism and the hotel business have benefited greatly from the use of digital social networking. Using social big data research, the application of deep learning seems to have been beneficial in a marketing strategies and customer preference estimate. Recognizing human psychology, which is critical to industrial success, has benefited greatly from digital technology and social media. The Internet of Things (IoT) provides a chance for a hotel sector to improve the customer experience although lowering operational expenses. The ratings are determined by the following factors: Value, Apartment, Location, Hygiene, Front Office, Facilities, Professional Service, Internet, and Parking. Traditional techniques which anticipate hotel evaluations through minimal precision add difficulty to the rating assessment. As a result, efficient deep learning algorithms are employed to evaluate reviews designed to help consumers in selecting better hotels. To predict qualities, multiple classification techniques, including convolutional neural network-based deep learning (CNN-DL) and support vector machine (SVM) network-based deep learning, were used in this research. The system examines system efficiency by using the TripAdvisor website, this is a well American database. The research results reveal that the CNN-DL method outperforms another method in terms of classification efficiency and failure *** graphical results could also be utilized to enhance the effectiveness of the suggested model and offer insights into response tactics, demonstrating the study's academic and conceptual achievements. Although it is feasible to conclude from such research that the possibility of IoT within the hotel industry has not yet been fully investigated, as researchers commonly speculate on using IoT for implementations that might quickly be of involvement to a hotel sector, but refuse to recognize that possibility as a massive market. © 2022 The Author(s)

Multispectral pan-sharpening aims at producing a high resolution (HR) multispectral (MS) image in both spatial and spectral domains by fusing a panchromatic (PAN) image and a corresponding MS image. In this paper, we propose a novel dual-channel network (DCNet) framework for MS pan-sharpening. In our DCNet, the dual-channel backbone involves a spatial channel to capture spatial information with a 2D CNN, and a spectral channel to extract spectral information with a 3D CNN. This heterogeneous 2D/3D CNN architecture can minimize causing spectral information distortion, which typically happens in conventional 2D CNN models. In order to fully integrate the spatial and spectral features captured from different levels, we introduce a multi-level fusion strategy. Specifically, a spatial-spectral CLSTM (S2-CLSTM) module is proposed for fusing the hierarchical spatial and spectral features, which can effectively capture correlations among multi-level features. The S2-CLSTM module attaches two fusion ways: the intra-level fusion via bi-directional lateral connections and inter-level fusion via the cell state in the S2-CLSTM. Finally, the ideal HR-MS image is recovered by a reconstruction module. Extensive experiments have been conducted at both simulated lower scale and the original scale of real-world datasets. Triangle counting (TC) is a fundamental problem in graph analysis and has found numerous applications, which motivates many TC acceleration solutions in the traditional computing platforms like GPU and FPGA. However, these approaches suffer from the bandwidth bottleneck because TC calculation involves a large amount of data transfers. In this paper, we propose to overcome this challenge by designing a TC accelerator utilizing the emerging processing-in-MRAM (PIM) architecture. The true innovation behind our approach is a novel method to perform TC with bitwise logic operations (such as AND), instead of the traditional approaches such as matrix computations. This enables the efficient in-memory implementations of TC computation, which we demonstrate in this paper with computational Spin-Transfer Torque Magnetic RAM (STT-MRAM) arrays. Furthermore, we develop customized graph slicing and mapping techniques to speed up the computation and reduce the energy consumption. We use a device-to-architecture co-simulation framework to validate our proposed TC accelerator. The results show that our data mapping strategy could reduce 99.99% of the computation and 72% of the memory WRITE operations. Compared with the existing GPU or FPGA accelerators, our in-memory accelerator achieves speedups of 9× and 23.4×, respectively, and a 20.6× energy efficiency improvement over the FPGA accelerator.
