Teaching is a potentially effective approach for understanding interactions among multiple intelligences. Previous explorations have convincingly shown that teaching presents additional opportunities for observation and demonstration within the learning model, such as data distillation and selection. However, the underlying optimization principles and convergence of interactive teaching lack theoretical analysis, and in this regard co-teaching serves as a notable prototype. In this paper, we discuss its role as a reduction of the larger loss landscape derived from Sharpness-Aware Minimization (SAM). Then, we classify it as an iterative parameter estimation process using Expectation-Maximization. The convergence of this typical interactive teaching is achieved by continuously optimizing a variational lower bound on the log marginal likelihood. This lower bound represents the expected value of the log posterior distribution of the latent variables under a scaled, factorized variational distribution. To further enhance interactive teaching's performance, we incorporate SAM's strong generalization information into interactive teaching, referred as Sharpness Reduction Interactive Teaching (SRIT). This integration can be viewed as a novel sequential optimization process. Disentangled collaborative filtering can explicitly generate embeddings based on users' interests and help improve the interpretability and robustness of recommendations. However, the existing disentangled graph collaborative filtering methods rely solely on direct interaction constraints between nodes to learn node embeddings, which cannot represent higher-order constraints between nodes and node-type differences, resulting in suboptimal node representations and negatively affecting recommendation performance. To address this problem, we propose a Multi-order Similarity Constraint Disentangled Graph Collaborative Filtering (DGCF-MSC) method, which considers not only direct interaction constraints between nodes but also designs a neighborhood enhancement mechanism based on high-order relationships between homogeneous nodes. We realize the disentanglement of heterogeneous type nodes in different feature spaces in a graph convolutional neural network to make the generated embedding more interpretable and improve the performance of graph collaborative filtering. We conduct extensive experiments with three recommendation system datasets and the results demonstrate that DGCF-MSC outperforms the existing disentangled graph collaborative filtering methods in all performance metrics. The estimates of the high-dimensional volatility matrix based on high-frequency data play a pivotal role in many financial ***,most existing studies have been built on the sub-Gaussian and cross-sectional independence assumptions of microstructure noise,which are typically violated in the financial *** this paper,the authors proposed a new robust volatility matrix estimator,with very mild assumptions on the cross-sectional dependence and tail behaviors of the noises,and demonstrated that it can achieve the optimal convergence rate n-1/***,the proposed model offered better explanatory and predictive powers by decomposing the estimator into low-rank and sparse components,using an appropriate regularization *** studies demonstrated that the proposed estimator outperforms its competitors under various dependence structures of microstructure ***,an extensive analysis of the high-frequency data for stocks in the Shenzhen Stock Exchange of China demonstrated the practical effectiveness of the estimator.

Thailand has a wide variety of tourist attractions, making it difficult for tourist to choose where to go on vacation. The tourist destination recommendation system is a challenge for creating a system to help recommend tourist destinations that are appropriate for personal. Therefore, the principal aims of this research encompass two distinct objectives: firstly, to create a recommendation system for tourist destinations in Thailand by applying machine learning algorithms;and secondly, to analyze factors influencing tourists' choices of destinations. The dataset was gathered from an online survey conducted via Google Forms, comprising responses from 429 tourists in Thailand. In the experiments, three different types of feature selection methods were applied in a data preprocessing step. In the modeling process, four machine learning algorithms, namely Decision Tree, Random Forest, k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN), and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), were used to construct the model and compare the predictive performance of the recommendation system based on hit rate and NDCG. The experimental results showed that suggesting tourist destinations in the Central region was the most effective, with the highest hit rate and NDCG compared to other regions. The average hit rate and NDCG for the five regions were 0.8 and 0.59, respectively. In addition, there has been an analysis of key factors influencing destination selection, such as activity, travel month, travel budget, and the age of tourists, to understand their impact on travel choices in each region of Thailand. © 2024 Owner/Author.

The highly abstract nature of image aesthetics perception (IAP) poses a significant challenge for current multimodal large language models (MLLMs). The lack of human-annotated multi-modality aesthetic data further exacerbates this dilemma, resulting in MLLMs falling short of aesthetics perception capabilities. To address the above challenge, we first introduce a comprehensively annotated Aesthetic Multi-Modality Instruction Tuning (AesMMIT) dataset, which serves as the footstone for building multi-modality aesthetics foundation models. Specifically, to align MLLMs with human aesthetics perception, we construct a corpus-rich aesthetic critique database with 21,904 diverse-sourced images and 88K human natural language feedbacks, which are collected via progressive questions, ranging from coarse-grained aesthetic grades to fine-grained aesthetic descriptions. To ensure that MLLMs can handle diverse queries, we further prompt GPT to refine the aesthetic critiques and assemble the large-scale aesthetic instruction tuning dataset, i.e. AesMMIT, which consists of 409K multi-typed instructions to activate stronger aesthetic capabilities. Based on the AesMMIT database, we fine-tune the open-sourced general foundation models, achieving multi-modality Aesthetic Expert models, dubbed AesExpert. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed AesExpert models deliver significantly better aesthetic perception performances than the state-of-the-art MLLMs, including the most advanced GPT-4V and Gemini-Pro-Vision. Brain tumors are a serious health concern caused by the abnormal growth of cells in or around the brain. These tumors can either be benign or malignant. Few of the causes for Brain tumors are genetic mutations, exposure to radiation, or environmental factors. Early detection of brain tumors is essential for effective treatment and improved patient outcomes. To address this, a novel approach has been proposed for brain tumor detection using transfer learning with the VGG-16 convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture. By leveraging the pre-trained VGG-16 model on the ImageNet dataset, which provides a broad range of data for learning and representing complex features of various objects, meaningful features can be extracted from MRI scans and differentiate between tumor and normal tissue accurately. This refined VGG-16 model can provide a more precise and reliable diagnosis, which is crucial for successful treatment. This research study demonstrates that the utilization of VGG-16 model for brain tumor diagnosis can provide an efficient and accurate method for identifying brain tumors. Moreover, this approach can be applied to develop automated systems to assist medical professionals in diagnosing and treating brain tumors more effectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Among the plethora of IoT(Internet of Things)applications,the smart home is one of the ***,the rapid development of the smart home has also made smart home systems a target for ***,researchers have made many efforts to investigate and enhance the security of smart home *** a more secure smart home ecosystem,we present a detailed literature review on the security of smart home ***,we categorize smart home systems’security issues into the platform,device,and communication *** exploring the research and specific issues in each of these security areas,we summarize the root causes of the security flaws in today's smart home systems,which include the heterogeneity of internal components of the systems,vendors'customization,the lack of clear responsibility boundaries and the absence of standard security ***,to better understand the security of smart home systems and potentially provide better protection for smart home systems,we propose research directions,including automated vulnerability mining,vigorous security checking,and data-driven security analysis.

Scalable Transactional Stream Processing on Multicore Processors

Transactional stream processing engines (TSPEs) are central to modern stream applications handling shared mutable states. However, their full potential, particularly in adaptive scheduling, remains largely unexplored. We present MorphStream, a TSPE designed to optimize parallelism and performance for transactional stream processing on multicores. Through a unique three-stage execution paradigm (i.e., planning, scheduling, and execution), MorphStream enables adaptive scheduling under varying workload characteristics. Building on this foundation, MorphStream is further enhanced with support for non-deterministic state access, employing a stateful task precedence graph to handle undefined read/write sets at runtime while guaranteeing transaction semantics. Additionally, MorphStream incorporates a generalized framework for managing window-based operations, enabling efficient tracking and maintenance of overlapping windows using multi-versioned state management. These extensions enhance the system’s ability to process dynamic and irregular workloads. Experimental results demonstrate up to 3.4 times higher throughput and 69.1% lower latency compared to state-of-the-art TSPEs, validating its scalability and adaptability in real-world streaming scenarios. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

The large-scale multi-objective optimization algorithm(LSMOA),based on the grouping of decision variables,is an advanced method for handling high-dimensional decision ***,in practical problems,the interaction among decision variables is intricate,leading to large group sizes and suboptimal optimization effects;hence a large-scale multi-objective optimization algorithm based on weighted overlapping grouping of decision variables(MOEAWOD)is proposed in this ***,the decision variables are perturbed and categorized into convergence and diversity variables;subsequently,the convergence variables are subdivided into groups based on the interactions among different decision *** the size of a group surpasses the set threshold,that group undergoes a process of weighting and overlapping ***,the interaction strength is evaluated based on the interaction frequency and number of objectives among various decision *** decision variable with the highest interaction in the group is identified and disregarded,and the remaining variables are then reclassified into ***,the decision variable with the strongest interaction is added to each *** minimizes the interactivity between different groups and maximizes the interactivity of decision variables within groups,which contributed to the optimized direction of convergence and diversity exploration with different *** was subjected to testing on 18 benchmark large-scale optimization problems,and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our *** with the other algorithms,our method is still at an advantage.

An IRS is a digitally controlled metasurface consisting of a large number of passive reflecting elements, which are connected to a smart controller to enable dynamic adjustments of the amplitude and/or phase of the incident signal on each element independently [1].
