Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a very important technology widely used in diverse application domains of environmental monitoring, disaster management, health care, industrial automation etc. These are networks in which spatially distributed sensor nodes monitor physical or environmental conditions and communications data are processed through a base station. Here, we introduced a novel method for enhancing the efficiency and lifetime of WSNs by using the WSN to process images data and genetic programming (GA) to find the best route. A system model was developed to balance a network consisting of homogenous sensor nodes placed randomly in a particular geographical area, representing realistic scenarios. Each sensor node has limited energy resources, hence the operation of the network was partitioned into clustering phase and routing phase to optimal utilization of energy. To improve both the accuracy and efficiency of clustering, the genetic algorithm then identified the optimal path through these clusters using the best combination of pivot nodes for transmission. The proposed method applies image processing techniques to process sensor data, preprocesses sensor data, and then improves the classification process, clustering results, and the genetic algorithm obtains the more energy-efficient paths. Our extensive evaluation results prove substantial optimizations in network performance, energy efficiency and lifetime over known protocols. This method is expected to be effective in such applications as environmental monitoring, disaster management, and other applications that will utilize reliable and sustainable WSNs. © 2024 IEEE.

Foodborne illnesses pose a threat to public health, leading to morbidity, mortality, and economic burden annually. Social media, while providing a rich timely source for training AI models for surveillance, requires effective tools for annotation. While Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown promise for generating simple labels, here hierarchical labels composed of entity types like food type and symptom (at individual word level) and the foodborne illness event (at complete post level) are required. For this, we introduce ICL2FID, the first LLM-based hierarchical labeling framework designed to annotate social media posts for foodborne illness detection at two levels using only a few demonstration examples. To utilize the interconnection between post and word levels, ICL2FID instructs the LLM to leverage information from one level when predicting the other level. To combat model hallucination and cyclic dependencies, a verification step improves evidence propagation between interconnected word and post-level labeling tasks. Strategies for custom selection of demonstration examples are designed reducing biases and increasing representation. We compare ICL2FID against traditional supervised learning and other LLM methods, demonstrating that it not only achieves superior accuracy but does so at a fraction of the cost and time. These findings highlight ICL2FID’s potential as a viable alternative for hierarchical label generation in scenarios with limited resources and huge data sets. Since the advent of smartphones, capturing images has become deeply embedded in human behavior, evolving into a fundamental part of daily life. Research into human perception of image quality is crucial as people frequently acquire and interpret images. Automation in image processing systems is vital for quantifying image quality, addressing issues like blurriness, noise, and compression that can significantly degrade the visual experience. While image processing professionals can quickly identify such distortions, integrating human visual perception into automated system design remains challenging. Consequently, machine-based evaluation of image quality is a critical research area. Image quality assessment algorithms aim to approximate human visual judgments. Although deep learning has shown remarkable success in various real-world tasks, such as object detection and image classification, its application in image quality assessment is still evolving. The primary challenge is assessing image quality without explicitly considering human perception, making it a dynamic area of ongoing research. A significant hurdle is the lack of images with quality scores, particularly differential average feedback scores provided by image quality experts on a 1-100 scale. This limitation hinders the development of robust models for image quality assessment, highlighting the need for innovative solutions in this evolving research domain.

In terms of the generative process, the Gamma-Gamma-Poisson Process (G2PP) is equivalent to the nonparametric topic model of Hierarchical Dirichlet Process (HDP). Considering the high computational cost of estimating parameters in HDP, a parallel G2PP was developed to generate topics efficiently via multi-threading. Unfortunately, the above model needs to predefine the number of topics. To address this issue, we first propose a Topic Self-Adaptive Model (TSAM) for nonparametric and parallel topic discovery. In TSAM, a monitor-executor mechanism is developed to manage the global topic information using a hierarchical structure of threads. Based on the apparatus of copulas, we further extend our TSAM to TSAMcop for coherent topic modeling by exploiting a copula guided parallel Gibbs sampling algorithm. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of both TSAM and TSAMcop. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning based on the warehouse environment, the mobile robot obstacle avoidance Algorithm. Firstly, the value function network is improved based on the pedestrian interaction. We can learn to obtain the relative importance of the current state and the historical trajectory state as well as the joint impact on the robot's obstacle avoidance strategy. Secondly, the reward function of reinforcement learning is designed based on the spatial behaviour of pedestrians, and the robot is punished for the state where the angle changes too much, so as to achieve the requirement of comfortable obstacle avoidance. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the deep reinforcement learning-based mobile robot obstacle avoidance algorithm in the warehouse environment in the complex environment of the warehouse are verified through simulation experiments. © 2024 IEEE.

In the protection and restoration work of ancient buildings, the detection and analysis of the cracks and defects of the exterior walls of ancient buildings is a crucial task. In this paper, an improved YOLOv7 algorithm is proposed to detect the defects of ancient external walls, aiming to achieve efficient and accurate detection of the defects of ancient external walls. The method involves preprocessing the image using a rectangle clipping algorithm, graying the image using the maximum method, and denoising the image with a median filter. Next, the image is labeled using the LabelImg tool, and the data is split into training, validation, and test sets. During model training, a CBAM-Net module is inserted after several CBS modules in the backbone network, the GIOU loss function is replaced by CIOU, and feature task extraction is performed. The realized attention mechanism is added to the Yolov7 model. The results show that the mAP value of crack detection after the improved algorithm reaches 81.2%. In contrast to the initial YOLOv7 algorithm, the precision of the model has been boosted to 87.2%, exhibiting a 6.0% enhancement in accuracy and an 85.2% improvement in recall rate. The improved YOLOv7 crack detection algorithm reduces network calculation and improves crack classification and recognition ability. This approach is crucial in safeguarding ancient buildings as it enables varying levels of maintenance depending on the severity of cracks. © 2024 ACM.

How Do Neural Spoofing Countermeasures Detect Partially Spoofed Audio?

Partially manipulating a sentence can greatly change its meaning. Recent work shows that countermeasures (CMs) trained on partially spoofed audio can effectively detect such spoofing. However, the current understanding of the decision-making process of CMs is limited. We utilize Grad-CAM and introduce a quantitative analysis metric to interpret CMs’ decisions. We find that CMs prioritize the artifacts of transition regions created when concatenating bona fide and spoofed audio. This focus differs from that of CMs trained on fully spoofed audio, which concentrate on the pattern differences between bona fide and spoofed parts. Our further investigation explains the varying nature of CMs’ focus while making correct or incorrect predictions. These insights provide a basis for the design of CM models and the creation of datasets. Moreover, this work lays a foundation of interpretability in the field of partial spoofed audio detection that has not been well explored previously. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

In this paper,we propose a deformed Reuleaux-triangle resonator(RTR)to form exceptional point(EP)which results in the detection sensitivity enhancement of *** introducing single nanoparticle to the deformed RTR at EP,frequency splitting obtains an enhancement of more than 6 times compared with non-deformed *** addition,EP induced a result that the far feld pattern of chiral mode responses signifcantly to external perturbation,corresponding to the change in internal ***,single nanoparticle with far distance of more than 4000 nm can be detected by measuring the variation of far feld directional *** to traditional frequency splitting,the far feld pattern produced in deformed RTR provides a cost-efective and convenient path to detect single nanoparticle at a long distance,without using tunable laser and external *** structure indicates great potential in high sensitivity sensor and label-free detector.

To explore the vulnerability of deep neural networks (DNNs), many attack paradigms have been well studied, such as the poisoning-based backdoor attack in the training stage and the adversarial attack in the inference stage. In this paper, we study a novel attack paradigm, which modifies model parameters in the deployment stage for malicious purposes. Specifically, our goal is to misclassify a specific sample into a target class without any sample modification, while not significantly reduce the prediction accuracy of other samples to ensure the stealthiness. To this end, we formulate this problem as a binary integer programming (BIP), since the parameters are stored as binary bits (i.e., 0 and 1) in the memory. By utilizing the latest technique in integer programming, we equivalently reformulate this BIP problem as a continuous optimization problem, which can be effectively and efficiently solved using the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) method. Consequently, the flipped critical bits can be easily determined through optimization, rather than using a heuristic strategy. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our method in attacking DNNs. Image deblurring is a classic task in computer vision that aims to recover clean images from blurred images and is widely used in surveillance, medical imaging and so on. Existing methods typically apply a multi-stage encoder-decoder architecture to learn features at different scales, and they have achieved remarkable results. However, these methods usually map the input to a low-resolution (LR) image to expand its receptive field and then gradually reverse this image to the original resolution. Although these approaches obtain rich semantic information via spatial resolution reduction, they lose a large amount of spatial information, which is essential for image deblurring and extremely difficult to recover. To solve this problem, we propose a novel multi-stage model with high-resolution (HR) representation learning (MHRNet). In this model, HR representations are always preserved to reduce the loss of spatial information, and the features across all the scales at each resolution are fused to obtain spatially accurate and semantically rich features. Extensive experiments conducted on the GoPro, HIDE and RealBlur datasets demonstrate that MHRNet outperforms the state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods and reaches a 33.99-dB peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) on the GoPro dataset.
