Prior research on AI-assisted human decision-making has explored several different explainable AI (XAI) approaches. A recent paper has proposed a paradigm shift calling for hypothesis-driven XAI through a conceptual framework called evaluative AI that gives people evidence that supports or refutes hypotheses without necessarily giving a decision-aid recommendation. In this paper, we describe and evaluate an approach for hypothesis-driven XAI based on the Weight of Evidence (WoE) framework, which generates both positive and negative evidence for a given hypothesis. Through human behavioural experiments, we show that our hypothesis-driven approach increases decision accuracy and reduces reliance compared to a recommendation-driven approach and an AI-explanation-only baseline, but with a small increase in under-reliance compared to the recommendation-driven approach. Further, we show that participants used our hypothesis-driven approach in a materially different way to the two baselines. © 2024 The Authors.

Fortifying Smart Grids: A Holistic Assessment Strategy against Cyber Attacks and Physical Threats for Intelligent Electronic Devices

Intelligent electronic devices(IEDs)are interconnected via communication networks and play pivotal roles in transmitting grid-related operational data and executing control *** the context of the heightened security challenges within smart grids,IEDs pose significant risks due to inherent hardware and software vulner-abilities,as well as the openness and vulnerability of communication *** grid security,distinct from traditional internet security,mainly relies on monitoring network security events at the platform layer,lacking an effective assessment mechanism for ***,we incorporate considerations for both cyber-attacks and physical faults,presenting security assessment indicators and methods specifically tailored for ***,we outline the security monitoring technology for IEDs,considering the necessary data sources for their security ***,we classify IEDs and establish a comprehensive security monitoring index system,incorporating factors such as running states,network traffic,and abnormal *** index system contains 18 indicators in 3 ***,we elucidate quantitative methods for various indicators and propose a hybrid security assessment method known as GRCW-hybrid,combining grey relational analysis(GRA),analytic hierarchy process(AHP),and entropy weight method(EWM).According to the proposed assessment method,the security risk level of IEDs can be graded into 6 levels,namely 0,1,2,3,4,and *** higher the level,the greater the security ***,we assess and simulate 15 scenarios in 3 categories,which are based on monitoring indicators and real-world situations encountered by *** results show that calculated security risk level based on the proposed assessment method are consistent with actual ***,the reasonableness and effectiveness of the proposed index system and assessment method are validated.

Content-based recommender systems and collaborative filtering recommender systems might be useful in recommending items that might be preferred by users based on their preferences from the past, these systems rely on users' preferences, items' ratings, and items' descriptions. Thus, these systems might be less useful for items for which users' preferences and ratings cannot be easily collected. On the other hand, a constraint-based recommender system can suggest items that fulfil users' requirements (or constraints) by relying on users' requirements and knowledge about the domain of the items for giving a recommendation. In the case where, no item can be found, the system will proceed with the constraints of a relaxation phase to search for possible modifications in the constraints, give advice to the user, and enable them to edit their requirements to obtain more results. In this study, we propose a new approach called a mixed-based approach. The approach is based on an integration of soft and hard relaxation-based approaches. The proposed approach is implemented as a notebook recommender system. We conducted experiments on the proposed approach using collected data from e-commerce websites. The results also show that the proposed mixed-based approach is able to control constraints, and gives better performance in giving recommendations to users. © 2024 IEEE.

Genotyping of structural variations considering copy number variations(CNVs)is an infancy and challenging ***,a prevalent form of critical genetic variations that cause abnormal copy numbers of large genomic regions in cells,often affect transcription and contribute to a variety of *** characteristics of CNVs often lead to the ambiguity and confusion of existing genotyping features and algorithms,which may cause heterozygous variations to be erroneously genotyped as homozygous variations and seriously affect the accuracy of downstream *** the allelic copy number increases,the error rate of genotyping increases *** instances with different copy numbers play an auxiliary role in the genotyping classification problem,but some will seriously interfere with the accuracy of the *** by these,we propose a transfer learning-based method to genotype structural variations accurately considering *** method first divides the instances with different allelic copy numbers and trains the basic machine learning framework with different genotype *** maximizes the weights of the instances that contribute to classification and minimizes the weights of the instances that hinder correct *** adjusting the weights of the instances with different allelic copy numbers,the contribution of all the instances to genotyping can be maximized,and the genotyping errors of heterozygote variations caused by CNVs can be *** applied the proposed method to both the simulated and real datasets,and compared it to some popular algorithms including GATK,Facets and *** experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the others in terms of accuracy,stability and *** source codes have been uploaded at github/TrinaZ/CNVtransfer for academic use only.

Researchers have recently created several deep learning strategies for various tasks, and facial recognition has made remarkable progress in employing these techniques. Face recognition is a noncontact, nonobligatory, acceptable, and harmonious biometric recognition method with a promising national and social security future. The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing face recognition algorithm, investigate extensive data-driven face recognition methods, and propose a unique automated face recognition methodology based on generative adversarial networks (GANs) and the center symmetric multivariable local binary pattern (CS-MLBP). To begin, this paper employs the center symmetric multivariant local binary pattern (CS-MLBP) algorithm to extract the texture features of the face, addressing the issue that C2DPCA (column-based two-dimensional principle component analysis) does an excellent job of removing the global characteristics of the face but struggles to process the local features of the face under large samples. The extracted texture features are combined with the international features retrieved using C2DPCA to generate a multifeatured face. The proposed method, GAN-CS-MLBP, syndicates the power of GAN with the robustness of CS-MLBP, resulting in an accurate and efficient face recognition system. Deep learning algorithms, mainly neural networks, automatically extract discriminative properties from facial images. The learned features capture low-level information and high-level meanings, permitting the model to distinguish among dissimilar persons more successfully. To assess the proposed technique’s GAN-CS-MLBP performance, extensive experiments are performed on benchmark face recognition datasets such as LFW, YTF, and CASIA-WebFace. Giving to the findings, our method exceeds state-of-the-art facial recognition systems in terms of recognition accuracy and resilience. Point-of-interest(POI)recommendations in location-based social networks(LBSNs)have developed rapidly by incorporating feature information and deep learning ***,most studies have failed to accurately reflect different users’preferences,in particular,the short-term preferences of inactive *** better learn user preferences,in this study,we propose a long-short-term-preference-based adaptive successive POI recommendation(LSTP-ASR)method by combining trajectory sequence processing,long short-term preference learning,and spatiotemporal ***,the check-in trajectory sequences are adaptively divided into recent and historical sequences according to a dynamic time ***,an adaptive filling strategy is used to expand the recent check-in sequences of users with inactive check-in behavior using those of similar active *** further propose an adaptive learning model to accurately extract long short-term preferences of users to establish an efficient successive POI recommendation system.A spatiotemporal-context-based recurrent neural network and temporal-context-based long short-term memory network are used to model the users’recent and historical checkin trajectory sequences,*** experiments on the Foursquare and Gowalla datasets reveal that the proposed method outperforms several other baseline methods in terms of three evaluation *** specifically,LSTP-ASR outperforms the previously best baseline method(RTPM)with a 17.15%and 20.62%average improvement on the Foursquare and Gowalla datasets in terms of the Fβmetric,respectively.

Systematic investigation of nucleon optical model potentials in(p,d)transfer reactions

The consistent three-body model reaction methodology(TBMRM)proposed by *** et al.[***.C 69,064313(2004);***.C 73,044608(2006);***.C 75,064320(2007)],which includes adopting the simple zero-range adiabatic wave approximation,constraining the single-particle potentials using modern Hartree-Fock calculations,and using global nucleon optical model potential(OMP)geometries,are widely applied in systematic studies of transfer *** this study,we investigate the influence of different nucleon OMPs in extracting spectroscopic factors(SFs)from(p,d)*** study covers 32 sets of angular distribution data of(p,d)reactions on four targets and a large range of incident energies(20-200 MeV/nucleon).This study uses two semi-microscopic nucleon OMPs,i.e.,Jeukenne,Lejeune,and Mahaux(JLM)[***.C 16,80(1977);***.C 58,1118(1998)]and CTOM[***.C 94,034606(2016)],and a pure microscopic nucleon potential,i.e.,WLH[***.127,182502(2021)].The results are compared with those using the phenomenological global optical potential KD02[***.A 713,231(2003)].We find that the incident energy dependence of spectroscopic factors extracted from(p,d)reactions is evidently suppressed when microscopic OMPs are employed for ^(12)C,^(28)Si,and *** addition,spectroscopic factors extracted using the systematic microscopic optical potential CTOM based on the Dirac-Brueckner-Hartree-Fock theory are more in line with the results obtained from(e,e′p)measurements,except for 16O and ^(40)Ca at high energies(>100 MeV),necessitating an exact treatment of double-magic *** results obtained by using the pure microscopic optical potential,WLH,based on the EFT theory show the same trend as those of CTOM but are generally *** JLM potential,which relies on simplified nuclear matter calculations with old-fashioned bare interactions,produces results that are very similar to those of the phenomenological potential *** results indicate that modern

Federated learning is a widely used distributed learning approach in recent years,however,despite model training from collecting data become to gathering parameters,privacy violations may occur when publishing and sharing models.A dynamic approach is pro-posed to add Gaussian noise more effectively and apply differential privacy to federal deep ***,it is abandoning the traditional way of equally distributing the privacy budget e and adjusting the privacy budget to accommodate gradient descent federation learning dynamically,where the parameters depend on computation derived to avoid the impact on the algorithm that hyperparameters are created *** also incorporates adaptive threshold cropping to control the sensitivity,and finally,moments accountant is used to counting the∈consumed on the privacy‐preserving,and learning is stopped only if the∈_(total)by clients setting is reached,this allows the privacy budget to be adequately explored for model *** experimental results on real datasets show that the method training has almost the same effect as the model learning of non‐privacy,which is significantly better than the differential privacy method used by TensorFlow.
