This paper presents the design and implementation of a compact monopulse antenna utilizing a unique 2×2 hourglass-shaped patch integrated with a comparator circuit realized by four rat-race coupler. The antenna is designed to operate at a frequency of 10.3 GHz a gain of 12 dB is achieved at the sum port, with azimuthal and elevation difference ports yielding gain of 9.65 dB and 11 dB, respectively. A null depth of -24 dB, -15 dB is observed in azimuthal and elevation respectively, indicating precise signal discrimination. The design achieves a fractional bandwidth (FBW) of 2.3%, from 10.24 GHz to 10.485 GHz. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed antenna design in X-band target detection and tracking radar application. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a simple planar phase gradient metasurface based on phase discontinuity is presented for electromagnetic wave maneuvering. Due to the phase discontinuity of the Phase gradient metasurface (PGM), specular reflections diffused in multiple directions (-30° to 30°) in both monostatic and bistatic situations by greatly lowering radar cross-section (RCS).The 8x8 array's metasurface is produced by an electromagnetic simulator (EM). The simulation findings show that throughout a broad frequency range of the 10-20 GHz operating band, the reflective metasurface's RCS value reduced (below -10 dB) in both of the aforementioned scenarios. In monostatic and bistatic designs over a wide incidence angle range, planar design, angular, frequency independency, and wide angle RCS reduction are exhibited. This illustrates the possibilities of the proposed surface in real-time scenarios requiring stealth applications. © 2024 IEEE.

This work presents the design and evaluation of a novel wearable microwave sensor for real-time monitoring of lung health using a modified hairpin microwave resonator. The proposed sensor operates at a center frequency of 2.2 GHz and is capable of detecting shifts in the resonant frequency due to the changes in permittivity for different lung abnormalities. The proposed sensor provides a significant shift of 515.5 MHz for pulmonary edema and 435 MHz for emphysema, demonstrating its high sensitivity to detect aforementioned respiratory environment. The sensor exhibits a sensitivity of 8.2 % and a figure of merit (FOM) of 18.164, along with a Q-factor of 227, indicating its high-performance capabilities. The simulated results of the hairpin resonator integrated with real characteristics of human tissue mimic, demonstrate its potential as a sensor for real-time monitoring of lung functions, which could aid in the early detection and management of respiratory conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the experimental implementation of Maximum Torque per Ampere (MTPA) control for an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) developed indigenously, where knowledge of motor parameters was initially lacking. The paper discusses the resolution of various challenges encountered in IPMSM speed control. These challenges include limitations imposed by high direct axis inductance (Lds) and quadrature axis inductance (Lq) on per phase stator voltage, which restrict the motor's speed and loading capacity below levels specified by the manufacturer. Additionally, the paper addresses issues related to motor starting and the intricate implementation of the MTPA algorithm in a DSP microprocessor. The strategies adopted to overcome these challenges are discussed, and experimental results are provided to illustrate the efficacy of the implemented MTPA control strategy. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a novel planar phase gradient metasurface (PGM) with wideband radar cross-section (RCS) lowering capabilities is *** electromagnetic (EM) simulator is used to develop and model a 8x8 sub-array in order to verify its *** simulation's findings show that, at both normal and oblique incidence angles, the reflective metasurface greatly reduces the RCS (below 10 dB) over a broad frequency range of 7GHz to *** both monostatic and bistatic designs, a wide range of incidence angles (-30 degrees to +30 degrees) is used to demonstrate angle-independent RCS *** performance, frequency insensitivity, wide incident angle tolerance, and streamlined design are qualities to point out potential uses in real-world scenarios requiring low-scattering stealth capabilities. © 2024 IEEE.

The Himalayan region faces an escalating threat from landslides, a situation worsened by climate change. These events endanger human lives and valuable properties, underscoring the necessity for robust prediction and mitigation strategies. This research presents machine learning (ML) models to forecast slope movements in landslides, including Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Convolutional LSTM (Conv-LSTM), Convolutional Neural Network-Long Short-Term Memory (CNNLSTM), Encoder-Decoder LSTM, and a novel Multi-LSTM-SVM model. A key innovation in this study is incorporating antecedent rainfall data from the preceding three days, an element not previously explored in ML model development. Given that rainfall is a primary trigger for landslides, this inclusion enhances the understanding of landslides. The study focuses on Kamand Valley in Himachal Pradesh and collects extensive time-series data on weather conditions, soil parameters, and slope movements. The findings highlight the superior performance of the Multi-LSTM-SVM model, which achieved an F1 score of 0.703 in testing. This model consistently surpassed the others, demonstrating its potential in predicting landslides and mitigating risks. © 2024 IEEE.

Connected Vehicles (CVs) play a pivotal role in enhancing traffic safety and efficiency by leveraging real-time coordination through vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. By utilizing advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), CVscan significantly reduce accidents and improve traffic flow through cooperative maneuvers, like platooning. However, in developing countries, CVs have to interoperate with vehicles of various types, dynamics, and levels of connectivity, which necessitates the study of mixed traffic platooning. This paper focuses on such a mixed traffic platoon consisting of connected cars (CCs) with heterogeneous dynamics, and human-driven unconnected motorized two-wheelers (UMTWs). While the CCs are automated and can share real-time information via V2V communication, UMTWs depend entirely on the driver's perception and reaction. The objective is to design adaptive decentralized controllers for each CC to ensure safe platooning, even in the presence of UMTWs operating on urban roads. We utilize the variable time headway (VTH) spacing policy for each CC to maintain an efficient collision-free safe distance from its preceding vehicle. This adaptive approach caters to dynamic traffic conditions, thereby ensuring smooth and secure traffic flow on urban roads. The analytical results are substantiated through numerical simulations, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2024 IEEE.

Comprehensive analysis of BLDC motor faults in electric vehicle transportation

The faults prospective are higher for any BLDC motor, driven under a constant and continuous operating period. The possibility of getting susceptible to winding short-circuit faults and rotor demagnetisation effects, is more frequently discerned. The winding insulation breakdown introduces stator inter-turn fault (SITF) conditions in the machine which has consequent detrimental impact on the rotor permanent magnets (PMs). The cumulative effect of fault stimulates rotor demagnetisation, intensifying the effect of faults. This paper aims in classifying the motor faults employed in electric vehicle (EV) transportation. Depending upon the machine’s characteristic performance in terms of electrical signatures like, motor current signature (MCS) and back-EMF (BEMF), and mechanical signatures like frequency and vibration spectrum;a unique classification to fault is provided. The proposed research models investigate the performance of a machine drive under both individual and combined fault conditions, to give a significant outcome to the research findings. The closed loop motor drive operation is performed using an advanced field remodelling (AFR)-based technique which employs fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The developed drive-controller-system minimises the steady state error under motor operating conditions and has a clear discrepancy in terms of machine quantities during faults. SGGAA: a robust adversarial generation based on synthesizing point cloud and mesh space

3D vision recognition offers a significantly more robust tool for achieving machine cognition compared to traditional 2D vision techniques. However, similar to the vulnerabilities present in 2D vision, many 3D vision recognition applications, including point cloud classification models, are susceptible to degradation when confronted with imperceptible outliers. Outliers have a considerable impact on the performance and accuracy of models, compromising their overall effectiveness. Existing 3D point cloud attack and defense strategies neglect outliers and overlook the crucial impact of 3D printability in real-world scenarios. Neglecting this aspect hinders the consideration of potential manipulation or alteration of 3D objects in the physical realm, posing significant implications for the security and robustness of 3D vision systems. This manuscript presents a novel and effective targeted attack framework called synthesizing geometry and geodesic attack (SGGAA). It offers an alternative adversarial training algorithm that bridges the gap between the digital and physical domains. SGGAA introduces a novel generalized distance metric, facilitating the design of powerful and simple techniques for generating adversarial samples and improving the training process. It focuses on the regularizer loss object in synthesizing attack modes for mesh and point cloud spaces, utilizing Hausdorff distance, geometry distance, and geodesic distance losses. Comprehensive evaluations, including hyperparameter tuning, qualitative analysis, and quantitative experiments, were conducted to assess SGGAA’s performance. The results demonstrated its superiority, with high attack success rates, excellent geometric similarity scores, and outperformance of state-of-the-art attack strategies across various 3D defense techniques. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

E-bikes, or electric bicycles, are becoming more and more well-liked as a green form of transportation. However, riders may find it distracting to have to exert manual effort to operate the motorized propulsion system, particularly when they have to modify their hand placements. The objective of this study is to resolve this problem by automating the e-bikes power-change procedure. The Hero Lectro electric bicycle, a well-liked e-bike in India, was used in this study to gather cycling data, which were then analyzed to forecast changes in power mode. Data on heart rate and caloric intake were also taken into consideration as analysis inputs. Instance-Based Random Forest (IBRF), a novel ensemble model, was created and evaluated against a number of alternative machine learning strategies, such as instance-based learner-k, random forest, and decision tree. With an accuracy of 98% and F-measures of 0.980, the results showed that the IBRF ensemble model offered the best match to the observed data. These results demonstrate how well the IBRF ensemble model predicts changes in the power mode of e-bikes. Novice riders can experience a smoother and less turbulent ride, improving their overall safety and enjoyment, by having power changes automatically. ©2024 IEEE.
