This paper introduces a novel software technique to optimize thread allocation for merged and fused kernels in multi-Tenant inference systems on embedded Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Embedded systems equipped with GPUs face challenges in managing diverse deep learning workloads while adhering to Quality-of-Service (QoS) standards, primarily due to limited hardware resources and the varied nature of deep learning models. Prior work has relied on static thread allocation strategies, often leading to suboptimal hardware utilization. To address these challenges, we propose a new software technique called TLP Balancer. TLP Balancer automatically identifies the best-performing number of threads based on performance modeling. This approach significantly enhances hardware utilization and ensures QoS compliance, outperforming traditional fixed-Thread allocation methods. Our evaluation shows that TLP Balancer improves throughput by 40% compared to the state-of-The-Art automated kernel merge and fusion techniques. © 2009-2012 IEEE.

Credit card fraud is an omnipresent threat in the digital era that cannot be effectively managed without complex detection and prevention strategies. Machine learning has become instrumental for the industry, principally, due to providing tools to analyze transactional information and identify patterns of fraud. The article dwells on the methods, problems, and prospects of their future use. The algorithms are analyzed according to their potential applicability, scalability, and interpretability for fraud detection. This study includes convolutional neural networks and recurrent neural networks are used for utilization of anomaly exposure detection methods to detect unseen fraud with models. © 2024 IEEE.

Towards characterizing bug fixes through dependency-level changes in Apache Java open source projects

The complexity and diversity of bug fixes require developers to understand bug fixes from multiple perspectives in addition to fine-grained code changes. The dependencies among files in a software system are an important dimension to inform software quality. Recent studies have revealed that most bug-prone files are always architecturally connected with dependencies, and as one of the best practices in the industry,changes in dependencies should be avoided or carefully made during bug fixing. Hence, in this paper, we take the first attempt to understand bug fixes from the dependencies perspective, which can complement existing code change perspectives. Based on this new perspective, we conducted a systematic and comprehensive study on bug fixes collected from 157 Apache open source projects, involving 140456 bug reports and182621 bug fixes in total. Our study results show that a relatively high proportion of bug fixes(30%) introduce dependency-level changes when fixing the corresponding 33% bugs. The bugs, whose fixes introduce dependency-level changes, have a strong correlation with high priority, large fixing churn, long fixing time,frequent bug reopening, and bug inducing. More importantly, patched files with dependency-level changes in their fixes, consume much more maintenance costs compared with those without these changes. We further summarized three representative patch patterns to explain the reasons for the increasing costs. Our study unveils useful findings based on qualitative and quantitative analysis and also provides new insights that might benefit existing bug prediction techniques. We release a large set of benchmarks and also implement a prototype tool to automatically detect dependency-level changes from bug fixes, which can warn developers and remind them to design a better fix.

Application of hybrid capsule network model for malaria parasite detection on microscopic blood smear images

Today, malaria is a dangerous disease caused by Plasmodium parasites and transmitted by the bite of Anopheles mosquitoes. It is estimated that more than 200,000 cases of malaria will occur every day worldwide, and more than 400,000 people will die from malaria. Early diagnosis of malaria is important to mitigate the morbidity and mortality of the disease. In this paper, a fully trained capsule neural network combined with a convolutional neural network model is proposed for malaria detection from blood smear microscopic images. In malaria diagnosis, the hybrid CapsNet model can detect malaria in blood samples. The hybrid model is optimized based on malaria data in microscopic images of infected and uninfected blood. Images are processed and enhanced through rotation before being fed into the hybrid CapsNet model. The CapsNet hybrid model is examined for malaria data with a learning rate of 0.07 and a batch size of 20. Hybrid CapsNet model shows improved results in detecting malaria from microscopic images measured against the currently available standard malaria test. Constraints like malaria parasite detection rate, accuracy, F1 index and blood smear classification is used to gauge the attainment of the hybrid CapsNet model. Detection rate of 99%, accuracy of 99.08% and FAR of 0.97% is attained by the hybrid CapsNet model as contrary to the traditional state-of-the-art model, the DSCN-Net, where the detection rate was 98%, the accuracy was 97.2%, and the FAR was 0.99%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The Energy consumption in buildings is a significant factor in both cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability. To optimize energy use and sustain heating, cooling, and air conditioning (HVAC) in the buildings, predictive models that can effectively estimate heating and cooling loads are crucial. This paper employs a variety of regression techniques to develop prediction models for predicting Cooling Loads (CL) Heating Loads (HL) and in buildings. XG Boost, Ridge regression, Lasso regression, Decision Tree, Random Forest, and Bayesian Ridge Regression are a few ML models used. Numerous building metrics that are connected to energy are included in the collection. The models are trained, tested, and optimized using metrics like R2 score, MAE-Mean Absolute Error, MSE-Mean Squared Error, and RMSE-Root Mean Squared Error. To improve its capacity for prediction, the model's hyperparameters are also created using GridSearchCV. Analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of each model is feasible thanks to the results' systematic comparison and visualization. The results underline how crucial it is to choose models carefully and accurately to increase energy efficiency and inform building designs. This study offers useful tips on how to use ensemble techniques and machine learning techniques to evaluate power usage in the buildings. © 2023 IEEE.

The increasing dependence on smartphones with advanced sensors has highlighted the imperative of precise transportation mode classification, pivotal for domains like health monitoring and urban planning. This research is motivated by the pressing demand to enhance transportation mode classification, leveraging the potential of smartphone sensors, notably the accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope. In response to this challenge, we present a novel automated classification model rooted in deep reinforcement learning. Our model stands out for its innovative approach of harnessing enhanced features through artificial neural networks (ANNs) and visualizing the classification task as a structured series of decision-making events. Our model adopts an improved differential evolution (DE) algorithm for initializing weights, coupled with a specialized agent-environment relationship. Every correct classification earns the agent a reward, with additional emphasis on the accurate categorization of less frequent modes through a distinct reward strategy. The Upper Confidence Bound (UCB) technique is used for action selection, promoting deep-seated knowledge, and minimizing reliance on chance. A notable innovation in our work is the introduction of a cluster-centric mutation operation within the DE algorithm. This operation strategically identifies optimal clusters in the current DE population and forges potential solutions using a pioneering update mechanism. When assessed on the extensive HTC dataset, which includes 8311 hours of data gathered from 224 participants over two years. Noteworthy results spotlight an accuracy of 0.88±0.03 and an F-measure of 0.87±0.02, underscoring the efficacy of our approach for large-scale transportation mode classification tasks. An Enhanced Linearly Homomorphic Network Coding Signature Scheme for Secure Data Delivery in IoT Networks

Recently, Li et al. proposed an identity-based linearly homomorphic network coding signature (IB-HNCS) scheme for secure data delivery in Internet of Things (IoT) networks, and they claimed that the IB-HNCS scheme can resist pollution attacks. However, this paper shows that the IB-HNCS scheme is vulnerable to pollution attacks, as anyone who only has the public parameter can forge a new file identifier or a valid signature on a corrupted data packet to pollute legitimate sensor data. To enhance security and performance in network coding-based IoT networks, we propose a secure and efficient certificateless linearly homomorphic network coding signature scheme for IoT data delivery, which is free of burdensome certificate management and key escrow issue. In addition, our scheme is proved to be secure against adaptive chosen identity and adaptive chosen subspace attacks under two types of adversaries in the algebraic group model and random oracle model. Therefore, our scheme can verify the validity of data packets and allow data packets to be computed, so as to resist pollution attacks. The performance evaluation demonstrates that our scheme is more efficient and practical than existing secure schemes. Specifically, for a 73-dimensional data vector, the costs of signature generation and verification in our scheme are reduced by 38.588%-86.076% and 38.570%-85.664% respectively under the symmetric bilinear pairing setting, and the costs of signature generation and verification in our scheme are reduced by 17.740%-49.752% and 29.697%-58.645% respectively under the asymmetric bilinear pairing setting. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

The issue of cheating during exams has become a significant concern, gaining widespread attention from the public and media. This issue has been made worse by the transition of educational institutions to an online format, making it simpler to engage in academic dishonesty. To overcome this problem, developed an innovative solution known as the Online Exam Proctoring Model using You Only Look Once (YOLO) Model. With the use of cutting-edge computer vision algorithms, the proposed model makes use of data from cameras and microphones to automatically spot and prevent cheating during online exams. Face orientation, face spoofing detection, mouth tracking, audio analysis, mobile device recognition, and person counting are among the primary elements built into the model. Object detection algorithms, in conjunction with pre-trained YOLO weights, empower the model to detect mobile devices and count the number of individuals present in the exam environment. The automatic termination of exams upon detection of mobile devices, multiple persons, or no persons for 10 seconds acts as a strong deterrent against cheating. The suggested methodology created a reliable and effective tool for online examinations, guaranteeing the academic integrity and enabling impartial assessment of the skills and knowledge of learners. By implementing this solution, educational institutions can foster a secure online exam environment, promoting a culture of honesty and trust between students and educators. As navigate the evolving environment of education, the model stands as a reliable ally in upholding the credibility and authenticity of online learning experiences. © 2024 Elsevier B.V..
