We present an analysis of music modeling and recognition techniques in the context of mobile music matching, substantially improving on the techniques presented in [1]. We accomplish this by adapting the features specifically to this task, and by introducing new modeling techniques that enable using a corpus of noisy and channel-distorted data to improve mobile music recognition quality. We report the results of an extensive empirical investigation of the system's robustness under realistic channel effects and distortions. We show an improvement of recognition accuracy by explicit duration modeling of music phonemes and by integrating the expected noise environment into the training process. Finally, we propose the use of frame-to-phoneme alignment for high-level structure analysis of polyphonic music.

Uganda faces challenges in her efforts to achieve her goal "education for all", as a developing country. E-learning has been suggested as an alternative approach that can overcome these challenges involved in reaching underserved students. It is therefore important for an institution to know if it is ready for e-learning. This study examined the readiness for e-learning by Ugandan institutions of higher learning and proposed ways to encourage the use and development of e-learning systems aimed at up-lifting the education standards of the country. Data collected from eight Ugandan universities on analysis revealed that: awareness, culture, technology, pedagogy and content need to be considered in e-learning readiness assessment. These results together with the review of existing models for e-learning readiness assessment led to the development of a modified model for e-learning readiness assessment. Each layer corresponds to the attribute that is to be used for assessing the institutional e-learning readiness. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Peer to Peer (P2P) systems recently are receiving a lot of attention from the researchers. In such systems, peers are heterogeneous in providing resources and services. Peers do not have the same reliability so it is necessary to evaluate their trustworthiness for a reliable sharing of the resources and services. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy-based system for peer reliability in JXTA-Overlay P2P platform. We took in consideration two parameters: Actual Behaviour Criterion (ABC) and Amount of Data Exchanged (ADE) between peers. We evaluate the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations. The simulation results shows that the proposed system has a good behaviour and it can be used successfully to select the most reliable peer to execute the tasks.

Recently many researchers are working on Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks, which are able to overcome the firewalls, NATs and other security devices without changing the network policy. P2P architectures will be very important for future distributed systems and applications. In such networks, peers are heterogeneous in providing the services and they do not have the same competence of reliability. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate whether a peer is trustworthy or not for file sharing and other services. In this paper, we propose an integrated fuzzy-based trustworthiness system for P2P Communications in JXTA-Overlay, which consists of two Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLC1 and FLC2). For FLC1, we use three input parameters: Number of Jobs (NJ), Number of Connections (NC) and Connection Lifetime (CL) and the output is Actual Behavioural Criterion (ABC). We use ABC and Reputation (R) as input linguistic parameters for FLC2 and the output is Peer Reliability (PR). We evaluate the proposed system by computer simulations. The simulation results has shown that the proposed system has a good behaviour.

This study investigates the data preparation process for predictive modelling of the evolution of complex networked systems, using an e -- mail based social network as an example. In particular, we focus on the selection of optimal time window size for building a time series of network snapshots, which forms the input of chosen predictive models. We formulate this issue as a constrained multi -- objective optimization problem, where the constraints are specific to a particular application and predictive algorithm used. The optimization process is guided by the proposed Windows Incoherence Measures, defined as averaged Jensen-Shannon divergences between distributions of a range of network characteristics for the individual time windows and the network covering the whole considered period of time. The experiments demonstrate that the informed choice of window size according to the proposed approach allows to boost the prediction accuracy of all examined prediction algorithms, and can also be used for optimally defining the prediction problems if some flexibility in their definition is allowed.

To extend a complete workflow of automatic acquisition of morphological rules for morphological analyser, we propose a semi-automatic workflow for under-resourced language, which is Iban language. The workflow focuses in determining the rules to be used for building Iban morphological analyser without prior knowledge of language-specific morphological rules. This work introduces three main steps in acquiring the rules from the under-resourced language, which are morphological rules extraction, validation of the extracted rules and evaluation of the generated rules. From the proposed workflow, 25 rules were generated from 744 rules candidate. This work has achieved 76% of precision and 99% of recall. We believe the workflow will assist other researchers to build morphological analyser with the validated morphological rules for the under-resourced languages.

This paper proposes key SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) design strategies for those SaaS systems that run on top of a commercial PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) system such as GAE (Google App Engine)[1]. Specifically, this paper proposes a model-based approach for customization, multi-tenancy architecture, scalability, and redundancy & recovery techniques for GAE. The ACDATER (Actors, Conditions, Data, Actions, Timing, Events, and Relationship) model is used for various features, and then automated code generation is used to generate code based on the model specified. Simulation can be performed to ensure correctness before deployment.
