Cognitive radio networks are expected to address and resolve important operational challenges such as opportunistic spectrum access, spectrum and network heterogeneities and requests for the provision of diverse Quality-of-Service (QoS) for different applications. Accordingly, a number of network functionalities are required to take into account these challenges towards the efficient management of cognitive radio networks. This paper advances a new architecture for the management of cognitive radio networks. The architecture is designed and developed at the application layer and incorporates sensing and prediction, addressing and routing, middleware and decision making. Accordingly, a number of management functions are required to address the challenges associated with the management of cognitive radio networks. The paper provides an analysis of these components as well.

Analysis has shown that the standard Markovian model of Web navigation is a poor predictor of actual Web traffic. Using empirical data, we characterize several properties of Web traffic that cannot be reproduced with Markovian models but can be explained by an agent-based model that adds several realistic browsing behaviors. First, agents maintain bookmark lists used as teleportation targets. Second, agents can retreat along visited links, a branching mechanism that can reproduce behavior such the back button and tabbed browsing. Finally, agents are sustained by visiting pages of topical interest, with adjacent pages being related. This modulates the production of new sessions, recreating heterogeneous session lengths. The resulting model reproduces individual behaviors from empirical data, reconciling the narrowly focused browsing patterns of individual users with the extreme heterogeneity of aggregate traffic measurements, and leading the way to more sophisticated, realistic, and effective ranking and crawling algorithms. A privacy-secure image sharing scheme of ubiquitous cameras on the Sensing Web is presented in this paper. It is aiming at distributing images taken by surveillance cameras to ordinary people, where ubiquitous sensors are opened to public use. However, privacy of recorded subjects should be protected by means of allowing a user to get images without revealing who and where the subjects were. Meanwhile, the one who owns surveillance cameras and offers an image should be able to identify the illegal user who pirates the image. The proposed system provides a solution against violation of user's privacy and content piracy toward establishing a feasible and practical image trading system.
