With recent advances in technology protecting sensitive healthcare data is challenging. Particularly, one of the most serious issues with medical information security is protecting of medical content, such as the privacy of patients. As medical information becomes more widely available, security measures must be established to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Image steganography was recently proposed as an extra data protection mechanism for medical records. This paper describes a data-hiding approach for DICOM medical pictures. To ensure secrecy, we use Adversarial Neural Cryptography with SHA-256 (ANC-SHA-256) to encrypt and conceal the RGB patient picture within the medical image's Region of Non-Interest (RONI). To ensure anonymity, we use ANC-SHA-256 to encrypt the RGB patient image before embedding. We employ a secure hash method with 256bit (SHA-256) to produce a digital signature from the information linked to the DICOM file to validate the authenticity and integrity of medical pictures. Many tests were conducted to assess visual quality using diverse medical datasets, including MRI, CT, X-ray, and ultrasound cover pictures. The LFW dataset was chosen as a patient hidden picture. The proposed method performs well in visual quality measures including the PSNR average of 67.55, the NCC average of 0.9959, the SSIM average of 0.9887, the UQI average of 0.9859, and the APE average of 3.83. It outperforms the most current techniques in these visual quality measures (PSNR, MSE, and SSIM) across six medical assessment categories. Furthermore, the proposed method offers great visual quality while being resilient to physical adjustments, histogram analysis, and other geometrical threats such as cropping, rotation, and scaling. Lemons, renowned for their versatile applications in the culinary world and various industries, have become a staple commodity worldwide. The demand for high-quality lemons continues to soar, underscoring the need for reliable and efficient grading methods. Traditional lemon grading, which is largely reliant on human expertise, often falls prey to subjectivity, human errors, and time-consuming processes. In this paper, we propose a CNN-based lemon grading model to automate and improve the accuracy of lemon quality assessment. The proposed model utilizes CNNs in a modular and sequential fashion for extracting pertinent features from lemon images and categorizing them into distinct quality grades. A comprehensive dataset of lemon images with corresponding quality labels is used to train and validate the model. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the CNN-based approach in accurately grading lemons, offering a promising solution for enhancing efficiency and objectivity in the lemon grading process. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management 2024.

A Unified Arbitrary Style Transfer Framework via Adaptive Contrastive Learning

This work presents Unified Contrastive Arbitrary Style Transfer (UCAST), a novel style representation learning and transfer framework, that can fit in most existing arbitrary image style transfer models, such as CNN-based, ViT-based, and flow-based methods. As the key component in image style transfer tasks, a suitable style representation is essential to achieve satisfactory results. Existing approaches based on deep neural networks typically use second-order statistics to generate the output. However, these hand-crafted features computed from a single image cannot leverage style information sufficiently, which leads to artifacts such as local distortions and style inconsistency. To address these issues, we learn style representation directly from a large number of images based on contrastive learning by considering the relationships between specific styles and the holistic style distribution. Specifically, we present an adaptive contrastive learning scheme for style transfer by introducing an input-dependent temperature. Our framework consists of three key components: a parallel contrastive learning scheme for style representation and transfer, a domain enhancement (DE) module for effective learning of style distribution, and a generative network for style transfer. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations show the results of our approach are superior to those obtained via state-of-the-art methods. Segment Anything Model (SAM) has recently gained much attention for its outstanding generalization to unseen data and tasks. Despite its promising prospect, the vulnerabilities of SAM, especially to universal adversarial perturbation (UAP) have not been thoroughly investigated yet. In this paper, we propose DarkSAM, the first prompt-free universal attack framework against SAM, including a semantic decoupling-based spatial attack and a texture distortion-based frequency attack. We first divide the output of SAM into foreground and background. Then, we design a shadow target strategy to obtain the semantic blueprint of the image as the attack target. DarkSAM is dedicated to fooling SAM by extracting and destroying crucial object features from images in both spatial and frequency domains. In the spatial domain, we disrupt the semantics of both the foreground and background in the image to confuse SAM. In the frequency domain, we further enhance the attack effectiveness by distorting the high-frequency components (i.e., texture information) of the image. Consequently, with a single UAP, DarkSAM renders SAM incapable of segmenting objects across diverse images with varying prompts. Experimental results on four datasets for SAM and its two variant models demonstrate the powerful attack capability and transferability of DarkSAM. Decision making framework for heterogeneous QoS information: an application to cloud service selection

In recent times, appropriate decision-making in challenging and critical situations has been very well supported by multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. The technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is the most widely used MCDM method for solving decision problems. However, it restricts decision-makers to use only one type of Quality of Service (QoS) information, and it suffers from the rank reversal problem. Restriction to only one type of QoS makes the decision problems more challenging, as it restricts the decision-makers freedom. Further, the rank reversal problem makes the decision result unreliable. To address these issues of TOPSIS, we have proposed a reliable rank reversal robust modular TOPSIS (RMo-TOPSIS). RMo-TOPSIS allows crisp, interval, fuzzy, intuitionistic and neutrosophic fuzzy QoS metrics. It does not suffer from the rank reversal problem. Cloud computing provides computing services on-demand basis without involving maintenance by its users. The availability of many cloud service providers and their services makes cloud service selection a challenging problem. To validate RMo-TOPSIS, we select the cloud service selection consisting of different types of QoS metrics as an application. This paper presents an energy-efficient and robust spiking neural network (SNN) classifier design for level-crossing analog-to-digital converter (LC-ADC) sampled electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. A quantization-aware training method is proposed for the fixed-point quantization stage of the hardware-aware training to achieve better classification accuracy while further compressing the quantization resolution. The SNN classifier is trained with a mixed ECG dataset in which the ECG signals are sampled by LC-ADCs with multiple resolutions. Thus, the robustness of the SNN model is improved, achieving a classification accuracy improvement of up to 2% on various LC resolutions. The classifier is validated on a neuromorphic processor chip and achieves an accuracy of 98.24% with a measured energy consumption of 0.36 μJ/inference. The energy-delay product is 164 pJ·s, achieving more than 12 × improvement over other works. © 2023 IEEE.

In democratic societies, the efficiency and integrity of the voting process are paramount. The DigiVoter system presents an innovative approach to addressing the longstanding challenges of voter verification at polling booths, which have been identified as significant barriers to voter turnout and operational efficiency. By integrating facial recognition technology powered by OpenCV with a blockchain-based data storage solution, DigiVoter aims to automate and secure the voter verification process, thereby reducing queue times from the current average of 7 min to under 2 min. This paper explores the development and implementation of DigiVoter, emphasizing its potential to streamline the electoral process, enhance data security, and increase voter participation. The use of OpenCV allows for accurate and swift voter identification, while the blockchain component ensures the integrity and immutability of voting records, addressing concerns about data tampering and privacy. Preliminary results indicate that DigiVoter can significantly improve the voting experience, suggesting a promising avenue for leveraging technology to support democratic engagement. Powered by the massive data generated by the blossom of mobile and Web-of-Things (WoT) devices, Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) have developed both in accuracy and size in recent years. Conventional cloud-based DNN training incurs rapidly-increasing data and model transmission overheads as well as privacy issues. Mobile edge computing (MEC) provides a promising solution by facilitating DNN model training on edge servers at the network edge. However, edge servers often suffer from constrained resources and need to collaborate on DNN training. Unfortunately, managed by different telecoms, edge servers cannot properly collaborate with each other without incentives and trust. In this paper, we introduce PipeEdge, a scheme that promotes collaborative edge training between edge servers by introducing incentives and trust based on blockchain. Under the PipeEdge scheme, edge servers can hire trustworthy workers for pipelined DNN training tasks based on model parallelism. We implement PipeEdge and evaluate it comprehensively with four different DNN models. The results show that it outperforms state-of-the-art schemes by up to 173.98% with negligible overheads. © 2023 ACM.
