In multimodal multiobjective optimization problems(MMOPs),there are several Pareto optimal solutions corre-sponding to the identical objective *** paper proposes a new differential evolution algorithm to solve MMOPs with higher-dimensional decision *** to the increase in the dimensions of decision variables in real-world MMOPs,it is diffi-cult for current multimodal multiobjective optimization evolu-tionary algorithms(MMOEAs)to find multiple Pareto optimal *** proposed algorithm adopts a dual-population framework and an improved environmental selection *** utilizes a convergence archive to help the first population improve the quality of *** improved environmental selection method enables the other population to search the remaining decision space and reserve more Pareto optimal solutions through the information of the first *** combination of these two strategies helps to effectively balance and enhance conver-gence and diversity *** addition,to study the per-formance of the proposed algorithm,a novel set of multimodal multiobjective optimization test functions with extensible decision variables is *** proposed MMOEA is certified to be effective through comparison with six state-of-the-art MMOEAs on the test functions.

This project aims to develop a flood monitoring and warning system using Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) technology. The system employs ultrasonic sensors placed in sensor nodes to measure water levels in flood-prone areas. Data collected by the sensor nodes is wirelessly transmitted to a central gateway node using the Long Range (LoRa) protocol. The gateway node then forwards the data to a cloud-based server for storage and analysis. The system includes testing and optimisation to determine the optimal communication range and performance of the LoRa devices. Signal quality parameters such as Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) are evaluated to assess the system’s performance. Additionally, a data visualisation and alert system is developed to provide users with real-time monitoring and timely alerts. The results demonstrate the successful implementation of the flood monitoring and warning system using LoRa technology, with accurate water level measurements and effective alert triggering. The system’s communication range was observed to be limited to 400 m, but enhancements such as improved antennas and more powerful LoRa devices could overcome this limitation. The evaluation of signal quality parameters revealed variations in RSSI and SNR values, suggesting potential environmental factors and interference. Despite these challenges, the system shows potential for addressing flood-related issues and can be further improved for broader deployment in diverse areas. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

E-textiles for emotion interaction: a scoping review of trends and opportunities

There has been a proliferation of emotion-related interactive textiles in recent years. This research conducted a comprehensive scoping review of the literature on emotion-related interactive textiles design. In total, 75 design studies were identified from their abstracts and analyzed with social network analysis and text mining methods. These studies were categorized into different aims (emotion expression, emotion communication, emotion reflection, emotion regulation, emotional effect, emotional experience, and emotion analysis). This review also analyzed details of prototypes and experimental design, such as textile form, textile function, feedback mechanism, experiment method, evaluation scale, and empirical findings. Then we evaluated these studies based on the relationship of their research aim, textiles, emotion, interaction mechanism, etc. The findings suggest that interactive textiles can aid in emotion presentation, modulation, and creating unique emotional experiences. Interactive textiles, feedback mechanisms, and bodily interaction all serve essential functions and benefit emotional interaction. Last, this review reflected on the critical research directions of emotion-related interactive textiles, including connecting interactive textiles with biofeedback, designing interactive textiles with sensory feedback mechanisms, and increasing bodily interaction for dynamic emotion. Further, this research provided insights into the research gaps, from elaborating on the experiment and exploring the materiality of interactive textiles to concerning privacy and user acceptance. Inverse kinematics solution for a six-degree-of-freedom upper limb rehabilitation robot using deep learning models

The inverse kinematics problem in serially manipulated upper limb rehabilitation robots implies the usage of the end-effector position to obtain the joint rotation angles. In contrast to the forward kinematics, there are no systematic approaches for solving the inverse kinematics problem. Furthermore, for some morphology of the upper limb rehabilitation robots, the inverse kinematics problem is particularly challenging to solve. Conventional methods to solve the inverse kinematics problem reported in the literature are computationally expensive. In the present work, we propose a deep learning-based model to acquire the joint angles for a given end-effector position. The proposed approach exhibits high efficacy in determining the joint angles for various target positions and can accurately predict the end-effector positions once trained, improving the ability of the upper limb rehabilitation robot to adapt to varying patient needs. Due to its improved capability and effectiveness to track positions, the proposed algorithm lays the foundation for the development of efficient controllers in future. © The Author(s) 2025.

Withdrawable signature, the new notion of signature recently introduced, enables the retraction of a digital signature without revealing the signer’s private key or compromising the security of other signatures the signer created before. This concept holds particular significance in decentralized systems where commitments may require revocation. However, a notable limitation of the initial withdrawable signatures is the lack of universal verifiability, primarily due to their reliance on designated-verifier signatures to ensure the withdrawable signature is not verifiable with only the signer’s public key. In this paper, we revisit the concept of withdrawable signature, broaden its scope, and introduce extended withdrawable signature. Rather than limiting verification to a specific entity, the "extended withdrawability" ensures the universal verifiability of the withdrawable signature by employing any signature schemes that can maintain signer ambiguity. After formally extending the definition and security notions for the existing withdrawable signature, we propose a generic construction of the extended withdrawable signature and provide an instantiation based on the Schnorr signature. We provide formal security analyses to demonstrate that our generic construction is unforgeable under insider corruption and satisfies the criteria of extended withdrawability. We envision our new type of withdrawable signature will significantly enhance flexibility and security in digital transactions and communications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This study is trying to address the critical need for efficient routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks(MANETs)from dynamic topologies that pose great challenges because of the mobility of *** objective was to delve into and refine the application of the Dijkstra’s algorithm in this context,a method conventionally esteemed for its efficiency in static ***,this paper has carried out a comparative theoretical analysis with the Bellman-Ford algorithm,considering adaptation to the dynamic network conditions that are typical for *** paper has shown through detailed algorithmic analysis that Dijkstra’s algorithm,when adapted for dynamic updates,yields a very workable solution to the problem of real-time routing in *** results indicate that with these changes,Dijkstra’s algorithm performs much better computationally and 30%better in routing optimization than Bellman-Ford when working with configurations of sparse *** theoretical framework adapted,with the adaptation of the Dijkstra’s algorithm for dynamically changing network topologies,is novel in this work and quite different from any traditional *** adaptation should offer more efficient routing and less computational overhead,most apt in the limited resource environment of ***,from these findings,one may derive a conclusion that the proposed version of Dijkstra’s algorithm is the best and most feasible choice of the routing protocol for MANETs given all pertinent key performance and resource consumption indicators and further that the proposed method offers a marked improvement over traditional *** paper,therefore,operationalizes the theoretical model into practical scenarios and also further research with empirical simulations to understand more about its operational effectiveness.

Multiple studies about the indoor positioning technologies have been reported. However, literature involving scientometric analysis of indoor positioning technologies is sparse. Here, we use scientometric analysis and a historical review to highlight recent research on indoor positioning technologies. We use the former to examine research on indoor positioning technologies from 2002 to 2022. The latter is used to identify the most frequent keywords in keyword analysis, as well as explore hotspots and indoor position technology trends. Scientometrics analyzed the mainstream positioning technology, changes in research topics, and major research trends, and found that there were 2739 research papers on indoor positioning technology, a 4-fold increase over the last 20 years. These findings offer a vigorous roadmap for further studies in this field. © 2024 SPIE.

Automated bird sound recognition has emerged as a valuable tool for studying and protecting biodiversity. By analyzing bird vocalizations, researchers can gain insights into population dynamics, habitat use, and the impacts of environmental change. This review delves into recent advancements in machine learning techniques, particularly Deep Learning models, for accurate bird species identification. We discuss the challenges and limitations of existing approaches, including data quality issues and the complexity of bird vocalizations. Our analysis highlights the effectiveness of Deep Learning models, such as CNNs and RCNNs, in capturing intricate patterns within bird sounds. By addressing these challenges and leveraging these techniques, automated bird sound recognition systems can provide valuable insights for conservation efforts. Future research should focus on improving model robustness, exploring novel deep-learning architectures, and developing efficient real-time systems to facilitate large-scale monitoring. © 2024 IEEE.
