In guaranteeing the absence of adversarial examples in an instance's neighbourhood, certification mechanisms play an important role in demonstrating neural net robustness. In this paper, we ask if these certifications can compromise the very models they help to protect? Our new Certification Aware Attack exploits certifications to produce computationally efficient norm-minimising adversarial examples 74% more often than comparable attacks, while reducing the median perturbation norm by more than 10%. While these attacks can be used to assess the tightness of certification bounds, they also highlight that releasing certifications can paradoxically reduce security. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

Facial expressions have been widely used for depression recognition because it is intuitive and convenient to access. Pupil diameter contains rich emotional information that is already reflected in facial video streams. However, the spatiotemporal correlation between pupillary changes and facial behavior changes induced by emotional stimuli has not been explored in existing studies. This paper presents a novel multimodal fusion algorithm - Trial Selection Tensor Canonical Correlation Analysis (TSTCCA) to optimize the feature space and build a more robust depression recognition model, which innovatively combines the spatiotemporal relevance and complementarity between facial expression and pupil diameter features. TSTCCA explores the interaction between trials and obtains an effective fusion representation of two modalities from a trial subset related to depression. The experimental results show that TSTCCA achieves the highest accuracy of 78.81% with the subset of 25 trials. IEEE

The future sixth-generation(6G) paradigm aims to seamlessly integrate communication and environmental sensing capabilities into a single radio signal, promising improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness through simultaneous data communications and environmental perception. At the core of this evolution, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) and its advanced waveforms emerge as pivotal for integrated sensing and communications(ISAC). This study introduces a concise and unified ISAC waveform design framework based on orthogonal multicarriers. This framework supports versatile applications of OFDM and its derivative waveforms within a generalized ISAC system, marking a significant leap in integrating communication and sensing capabilities. A distinguishing feature of this framework is its adaptability,allowing users to intelligently select modulation strategies based on their specific environmental needs. This adaptability optimizes performance across diverse scenarios. Central to our innovations is the proposal of discrete Fourier transformspread OFDM with index modulation(DFT-S-OFDM-IM). This framework is paired with newly proposed signal processing methods for single-input single-output and multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Extensive evaluations highlight DFT-S-OFDM-IM's superiority, including dramatically reduced peak-to-average power ratios(PAPRs), competitive communication performance, and exceptional sensing capabilities, striking an elegant balance between communication capacity and environmental sensing precision.
