In the context of road scenes, detecting targets poses challenges such as mutual occlusion, small sizes, and dense distributions, leading to difficulties in detection and target loss. To address these issues, a road scene target detection algorithm is proposed based on improvements to YOLOv8. Firstly, a lightweight VanillaNet is employed as the backbone feature extraction network. Secondly, an SENet module is introduced in the Feature Fusion Network (Neck) to enhance the model's learning ability in deep-level features, thereby addressing detection challenges caused by mutual occlusion of targets. Finally, the MPDIoU loss function is chosen to replace the original YOLOv8 loss function for model optimization. Experiments are conducted using images from the Pascal VOC dataset, specifically samples of Person, Car, Bus, Motorcycle, and Bicycle categories, for training and testing. The experimental results indicate that the improved algorithm exhibits a 3.5% increase in average precision compared to the original YOLOv8 algorithm, with notable improvements in target omission and false detection scenarios.

This paper proposes an adaptive nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode (NFTSM) tracking controller for second-order nonlinear systems with external disturbances. Firstly, a novel NFTSM mainfold is constructed to directly address the singularity issue from the perspective of sliding mode surface design and enhance the convergence speed of the tracking error. Then, in order to achieve more accurate dynamic response on the uncertain nonlinear system, a robust adaptive control strategy is introduced into the sliding mode control strategy to estimate the unknown external disturbance. The system states can converge to an arbitrarily small set around the origin within a finite time. Finally, a simulation example is included to further testify the validity of the proposed control approach.

This paper investigates the problem of maximizing social power for a group of agents, who participate in multiple meetings described by independent Friedkin-Johnsen models. A strategic game is obtained, in which the action of each agent (or player) is her stubbornness over all the meetings, and the payoff is her social power on average. It is proved that, for all but some strategy profiles on the boundary of the feasible action set, each agent's best response is the solution of a convex optimization problem. Furthermore, even with the non-convexity on boundary profiles, if the underlying networks are given by a fixed complete graph, the game has a unique Nash equilibrium. For this case, the best response of each agent is analytically characterized, and is achieved in finite time by a proposed algorithm.
