Regular observation of steel microstructure in met-allographic image allow us to know its deterioration grade and take appropriate measures to ensure safe operation of coal-fired power plant. To eliminate the influence of subjective factors in the inspection process, this paper used an improved ResNet50 combined with attention mechanisms and Pyramid Convolution for automatic recognition of steel deterioration grade. At same time, online label-smoothing is used to exploit the similarity of images in adjacent deterioration grade to improve recognition performance. We collected metallographic images from work-pieces in coal-fired power plant to validate our method. The experimental results show that the recognition accuracy reached 91.5%, which is 8.15% higher than ResNet50, and error cases occured only in adjacent grade. The proposed method can meet the requirements of automatic steel deterioration recognition task and is sufficient to support the safe operation of coal-fired power plant. © 2023 IEEE.

Modern surface mount circuit board assemblies require more advanced defect detection methods. While deep learning algorithms have great potential for PCBA inspection, their detection accuracy in complex background situations is still limited. To overcome this problem, we propose a deep learning-based PCBA detection model (PCB-Net) to achieve accurate classification and localization of components on PCB. Firstly, for similar objects under complex background interference, this paper proposes a backbone network consisting of a generalized efficient aggregation network and a context converter to effectively extract local and global information. This integration aims to enhance the expressiveness of the network. Secondly, a multi-scale attention mechanism is designed to improve the feature extraction ability of the network on the target and suppress the interference of complex backgrounds. Finally, a C2fHB lightweight module was designed to improve the model's extraction of component features using the HorNet structure. Experimental results show that our proposed model is an effective PCBA detection method, as it can accurately detect tiny components in complex backgrounds, efficiently obtain component class and location information, and remain detection efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

The robotic arm system is susceptible to parameter uncertainty, unknown disturbances, and friction during the execution of the desired motion. To solve this problem, an adaptive nonsingular robust integral sliding mode controller and a modified adaptive nonsingular terminal sliding mode controller are designed in this paper. The two controllers have different advantages respectively, but both are able to achieve position tracking and velocity tracking of the robotic arm system. The presence of robust terms in the controllers can resist various types of disturbance well and can make the output error close to 0. The jitter problem of the sliding mode control can be effectively weakened by optimizing the sign function in the sliding mode controller. Finally, the experimental simulation of the robotic arm system is carried out using MATLAB software to verify the effectiveness of the designed controller. © 2023 IEEE.

We introduce a constructive function approximation approach as a general tool, particularly useful in adaptive and data-driven methods for perception and control. The key idea is to estimate of a collection of simple local models as opposed to a single and complex regression model trained in the entire input space. We use principles from the Online Deterministic Annealing (ODA) optimization framework to construct an adaptive partition of the input space, which enables the introduction of local function approximation models within each subset of the partition. We show that both the partitioning and the local model training algorithms are stochastic approximation algorithms that operate online, and with the same observations, as part of a two-timescale stochastic approximation scheme. This process constitutes a heuristic method to gradually increase the complexity of the function approximation framework in a task-agnostic manner, giving emphasis to regions of the input space where the regression error is high. As a result this framework has inherent explainability properties, and is suitable for continuous learning applications where regression improvement without retraining from scratch is crucial. Simulation results illustrate the properties of the proposed approach. © 2024 IEEE.

The accuracy of sea ice extraction is of great significance for ensuring navigation safety and assessing climate change. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery is an essential tool for remote sensing monitoring of sea ice. This research focuses on classifying sea ice and open water, extracting sea ice information from complex ice zones, and overcoming the effect of speckle noises in SAR images. In this paper, a deep learning model called TSDCU-Net is proposed for classifying sea ice and open water in SAR images. Based on the MDOAU-Net backbone, the TSDCU-Net model mainly consists of three distinct parts. First, a multi-texture scale feature fusion module is used at the input to extract features from SAR images. Moreover, dilated convolution blocks are used to increase the receptive field to reduce the effect of speckle noises in SAR images. Furthermore, the four skip connections of the MDOAU-Net backbone are replaced by four channels and spatial attention for improving representational power. Three datasets of GaoFen-3 in Bohai Bay, GaoFen-3 in the Arctic, and Sentinel-1 in the Arctic are validated and evaluated. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed TSDCU-Net outperforms other models in classifying sea ice and open water, identifying complex marginal ice zone, and overcoming the influence of speckle noises. It is confirmed that the proposed network has a strong robustness ability. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper addresses the control synthesis of heterogeneous stochastic linear multi-agent systems with realtime allocation of signal temporal logic (STL) specifications. Based on previous work, we decompose specifications into subspecifications on the individual agent level. To leverage the efficiency of task allocation, a heuristic filter evaluates potential task allocation based on STL robustness, and subsequently, an auctioning algorithm determines the definitive allocation of specifications. Finally, a control strategy is synthesized for each agent-specification pair using tube-based model predictive control (MPC), ensuring provable probabilistic satisfaction. We demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed methods using a multi-shuttle scenario that highlights a promising extension to automated driving applications like vehicle routing. © 2024 IEEE.

DC-DC converter-based multi-bus DC microgrids(MGs) in series have received much attention, where the conflict between voltage recovery and current balancing has been a hot topic. The lack of models that accurately portray the electrical characteristics of actual MGs while is controller design-friendly has kept the issue active. To this end, this paper establishes a large-signal model containing the comprehensive dynamical behavior of the DC MGs based on the theory of high-order fully actuated systems, and proposes distributed optimal control based on this. The proposed secondary control method can achieve the two goals of voltage recovery and current sharing for multi-bus DC MGs. Additionally, the simple structure of the proposed approach is similar to one based on droop control, which allows this control technique to be easily implemented in a variety of modern microgrids with different configurations. In contrast to existing studies, the process of controller design in this paper is closely tied to the actual dynamics of the MGs. It is a prominent feature that enables engineers to customize the performance metrics of the system. In addition, the analysis of the stability of the closed-loop DC microgrid system, as well as the optimality and consensus of current sharing are given. Finally, a scaled-down solar and battery-based microgrid prototype with maximum power point tracking controller is developed in the laboratory to experimentally test the efficacy of the proposed control method.

Pyrite is widely distributed in estuarine sediments as an inexpensive natural Fenton-like reagent,however,the mechanism on the hydroxyl radical(HO^(·))production by pyrite under estuarine environmental conditions is still poorly *** batch experiments were performed to investigate the effects of estuarine conditions including aging(in air,in water),seawater anions(Cl^(-),Br^(-)and HCO_(3)^(-))and light on the HO^(·)production by pyrite *** one-electron transfer dominated the process from O_(2) to HO^(·)induced by oxidation of *** Fe(oxyhydr)oxide coatings on the surface of pyrite aged in air and water consumed hydrogen peroxide while mediating the electron transfer,and the combined effect of the two resulted in a suppression of HO^(·)production in the early stage of aging and a promotion of HO^(·)production in the later stage of *** of the surface oxide layers by aggressive anions was the main reason for the inhibition of HO^(·)production by Cl^(-)and Br^(-),and the generation of Cl^(·)and Br^(·)may also play a role in the scavenging of HO^(·).HCO_(3)^(-)increased the average rate of HO^(·)production through surface-CO_(2) complexes formed by adsorption on the surface of *** significant enhancement of HO^(·)production under light was attributed to the formation of photoelectrons induced by photochemical reactions on pyrite and its surface oxide *** findings provide new insights into the environmental chemical behavior of pyrite in the estuary and enrich the understanding of natural remediation of estuarine environments.

The interaction between metal and support is critical in oxygen catalysis as it governs the charge transfer between these two entities,influences the electronic structures of the supported metal,affects the adsorption energies of reaction intermediates,and ultimately impacts the catalytic *** this study,we discovered a unique charge transfer reversal phenomenon in a metal/carbon nanohybrid ***,electrons were transferred from the metal-based species to N-doped carbon,while the carbon support reciprocally donated electrons to the metal domain upon the introduction of *** led to the exceptional electrocatalytic performances of the resulting Ni-Fe/Mo_(2)C@nitrogen-doped carbon catalyst,with a half-wave potential of 0.91 V towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and a low overpotential of 290 m V at 10 mA cm^(-2)towards oxygen evolution reaction(OER)under alkaline ***,the Fe-Ni/Mo_(2)C@carbon heterojunction catalyst demonstrated high specific capacity(794 mA h g_(Zn)~(-1))and excellent cycling stability(200 h)in a Zn-air *** calculations revealed that Mo_(2)C effectively inhibited charge transfer from Fe to the support,while secondary doping of Ni induced a charge transfer reversal,resulting in electron accumulation in the Fe-Ni alloy *** local electronic structure modulation significantly reduced energy barriers in the oxygen catalysis process,enhancing the catalytic efficiency of both ORR and ***,our findings underscore the potential of manipulating charge transfer reversal between the metal and support as a promising strategy for developing highly-active and durable bi-functional oxygen electrodes.

Thermodynamically stable and ultra-thin"phase"at the interface,known as complexions,can significantly improve the mechanical properties of nanolayered ***,the effect of complexions features(e.g.,crystalline orientation,crystalline structure and amorphous composition)on the plastic deformation remains inadequately investigated,and the corre-lation with the plastic transmission and mechanical response has not been fully ***,using atomistic simulations,we elucidate the different complexions-dominated plastic transmission and mechanical *** can alter the preferred slip system of dislocation nucleation,depending on the Schmid factor and interface *** nucleation,the dislocation density exhibits an inverse correlation with the stress magnitude,because the number of dislocations influences the initiation of plastic deformation and determines the stress *** crystalline complexions with different structures and orientations,the ability of dislocation transmission is mainly dependent on the continuity of the slip *** plastic transmission can easily proceed and exhibits relatively low flow stress when the slip system is *** the case of amorphous complexions with different compositions,compositional variations impact the atomic percentage of shear trans-formation zones after loading,resulting in different magnitudes of plastic *** smaller plastic deformation is produced,less stress can be released contributing to higher flow *** findings reveal the role of the complexions on plasticity behavior and provide valuable insights for the design of nanolayered composites.
