Automated extraction of cerebrovascular is of great importance in understanding the mechanism, diagnosis, and treatment of many cerebrovascular pathologies. However, segmentation of cerebrovascular networks from magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) imagery continues to be challenging because of relatively poor contrast and inhomogeneous backgrounds, and the anatomical variations, complex geometry and topology of the networks themselves. In this paper, we present a novel cerebrovascular segmentation framework that consists of image enhancement and segmentation phases. We aim to remove redundant features, while retaining edge information in shallow features when combining these with deep features. We first employ a Retinex model, which is able to model noise explicitly to aid removal of imaging noise, as well as reducing redundancy within an image and emphasizing the vessel regions, thereby simplifying the subsequent segmentation problem. Subsequently, a reverse edge attention module is employed to discover edge information by paying particular attention to the regions that are not salient in high-level semantic features. The experimental results show that the proposed framework enables the reverse edge attention network to deliver a reliable cerebrovascular segmentation. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The future of the machine-controlled power system is advancing to an inverter-based power system with a huge integration of renewable energy sources (RES) like photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy. The penetration of RES leads to instability of frequency due to the lack of inertia. Recent development has been made in inverter’s based virtual inertia control for frequency regulation in virtual synchronous generator-based systems. Inverters connecting to the microgrid are provided with virtual inertia and droop control by the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) system. In this study, three parallel VSGs based PV systems are used to investigate the frequency response and voltage stability. An advanced genetic algorithm (GA) optimization method is utilized to attain the optimum parameters of the droop control used in the VSGs. Furthermore, two different case studies with respect to load change are analyzed in detail with comparisons with the classical droop controller. The simulation results observed many improvements of the proposed controller over the classical controller.

This paper proposes the possibility of recognizing pedestrians in real time on the end devices using a microcomputer to automate the process of signaling traffic lights and improve system mobility. The paper is devoted to a brief analysis of existing systems for the detection of pedestrians, with the subsequent development of its own system based on those studied, and its further implementation on the Raspberry Pi microcomputer. A natural experiment was conducted to detect pedestrians in an image with the subsequent determination of their location at a pedestrian crossing. A number of popular pedestrian detection systems were analyzed in terms of speed, accuracy of determination, and the possibility of implementation on microcomputers. Recommendations on the choice of the system, conditions of use and improvement of characteristics. The developed system automates the work of the traffic light through the introduction of additional functions (tracking a pedestrian's posture, moving pedestrians along the roadway), ensuring the safety of road users, which allows to improve the level of the urban environment as a whole.

High-resolution pelvic MRI reconstruction using a generative adversarial network with attention and cyclic loss

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an important medical imaging modality, but its acquisition speed is quite slow due to the physiological limitations. Recently, super-resolution methods have shown excellent performance in accelerating MRI. In some circumstances, it is difficult to obtain high-resolution images even with prolonged scan time. Therefore, we proposed a novel super-resolution method that uses a generative adversarial network (GAN) with cyclic loss and attention mechanism to generate high-resolution MR images from low-resolution MR images by a factor of 2×. We implemented our model on pelvic images from healthy subjects as training and validation data, while those data from patients were used for testing. The MR dataset was obtained using different imaging sequences, including T2, T2W SPAIR, and mDIXON-W. Four methods, i.e., BICUBIC, SRCNN, SRGAN, and EDSR were used for comparison. Structural similarity, peak signal to noise ratio, root mean square error, and variance inflation factor were used as calculation indicators to evaluate the performances of the proposed method. Various experimental results showed that our method can better restore the details of the high-resolution MR image as compared to the other methods. In addition, the reconstructed high-resolution MR image can provide better lesion textures in the tumor patients, which is promising to be used in clinical diagnosis. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

With the emerging technology for distributed generation and urge of improving quality of service of power supply for energy users, more and more Microgrids (MGs) are integrated into the distributed networks to serve the energy users. These Microgrids are gradually formulating a Multi-Microgrid System (MMGS, Multi-Microgrid System), which will play an important role for the future energy supply. Building a centralized control center not only increases the expense of investment, but also brings the issues of maintaining fairness among energy users. To address these problems, this paper proposes a peer-to-peer method for energy trading of MMGS, based on the idea of decentralized trading. An auction-based trading mechanism suitable for peer-to-peer energy trading is proposed first. For this mechanism, the MGs firstly declare their energy buying bids or selling quotations. Then, the market-clearing price is determined by using a unified weight clearing algorithm in a decentralized manner. By applying the edge technology of Blockchain, the implementation of the proposed peer-to-peer energy trading method, including the architecture, procedures, security check, etc., is also discussed. The proposed Blockchain-based energy trading platform can realize the decentralized and autonomous energy trading of MGs within an MMGS. A case study with an MMGS with 10 MG units is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper, with considerations of low efficiency of missile path planning (MPP) by traditional aggregation technology, it uses affinity propagation based multi-objective evolutionary algorithm with hypervolume environment selection (APMO-HV) to solve the problem of MPP after establishing the MPP model. The experimental part compares and analyzes APMO-HV with six state-of-the-art algorithms, and applies it to address the MPP problem. The experimental results show that compared with the other six algorithms, APMO-HV has achieved the best solution performance in both the GLT test suite and MPP problem. This not only validates the effect of the proposed algorithm, but also enriches and improves the research results of MPP. © 2019 IEEE.

Internet Gateway(IGW) main role is detecting availability nodes and providing internet to Mobile Ad Hoc Network(MANET) have whenever connected to internet. Discovery time of gateway is changed based on the throughput and packet delay. Many of the situations the mobile nodes are have fixed host connection to the internet using minimum hop path, it is not good for waiting packets because of that packets are have longer path interface queue. This research paper object is avoided above the problem mentioning using a novel approach of SPAHN (Solving Problem of Ad-Hoc Network). This paper mainly focus is classify the routing protocols of load-aware in MANET and from this classify discover the proactive load-aware gateway (PL-AG) from a device into interface queue size and min-hop-metric. This novel approach has been allowing and gives better handoff between two internet gateways for fixed host seamless connectivity. We justify the performance of the SPAHN approach using two metrics like average end-to-end delay and throughput based on this examination the SPAHN system yield good simulation results comparably existing systems.

During the past decade, energy imbalance problem between supply and demand, together with the integration of renewable energy, have drawn much attention. Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, which aims at storing the electric power in the load valley period and supporting the grid at the load peak time, is considered as one of the most promising way to solve the energy imbalance problem. However, due to the random distribution characteristics of electric vehicles (EVs), the scale of interconnection may cause threat to the safety and economy of the power grid operation. A time-of-day price incentive mechanism is employed in this paper to address the problem, which helps to guide the EV users to shift their charging/discharging behaviors during the valley/peak period to achieve a reasonable scheduling strategy based on the dynamic discharging electricity price. Besides, mathematical analysis has been carried out to demonstrate the convergence of the proposed coordination strategy, and a case study shows that the strategy is effective. © 2018

In this study, we combined the Maximum Likelihood Estimator from our previous works with a Sequential Importance Resampling (SIR) particle filter to estimate the states of the stochastic Gompertz tumor growth model. We also implemented a parallel version in CUDA for the SIR filter in order to reduce its execution time. Extensive simulations with synthetic data were run to examine whether the SIR filter can provide more accurate state estimates in respect to the Normalized Mean Squared Deviation criterion compared to those provided by the deterministic Gompertz model. Moreover, we monitored and compared the execution time of the SIR's parallel and sequential implementations for different numbers of particles. The results showed that the SIR filter can estimate the system's states very accurately, even at the early tumor growth stages. Additionally, the parallel implementation that ran on the GPU was way more efficient than the implementation that ran on the CPU. By combining the Maximum Likelihood Estimator (MLE) with an SIR filter, we were able to obtain very accurate estimates of the tumors' volume. Furthermore, the execution time for the SIR filter was significantly decreased by taking advantage of the GPUs ability to perform a very large number of computations in parallel.
