Real-time 3-D view reconstruction in an unfamiliar environment poses complexity for various applications due to varying conditions such as occlusion, latency, precision, etc. This article thoroughly examines and tests contemporary methodologies addressing challenges in 3-D view reconstruction. The methods being explored in this article are categorized into volumetric and mesh, generative adversarial network based, and open source library based methods. The exploration of these methods undergoes detailed discussions, encompassing methods, advantages, limitations, and empirical results. The real-time testing of each method is done on benchmarked datasets, including ShapeNet, Pascal 3D+, Pix3D, etc. The narrative highlights the crucial role of 3-D view reconstruction in domains such as robotics, virtual and augmented reality, medical imaging, cultural heritage preservation, etc. The article also anticipates future scopes by exploring generative models, unsupervised learning, and advanced sensor fusion to increase the robustness of the algorithms. © 2020 IEEE.

Coefficients learning has long been challenging in genetic programming based symbolic regression (GPSR). Recent GPSR methods employ Pearson correlation coefficient for fitness assessment with post-hoc linear scaling for coefficient learning. However, this approach often leads to sub-optimal coefficient learning and inadequate consideration of nonlinear relationships between input variables and outputs. To solve those issues, this study introduces an innovative approach to integrating the Concordance Correlation Coefficient (CCC) into GPSR. Unlike Pearson correlation, CCC can effectively assess both linear and non-linear agreements between two sets of variables. Experimental results on eight regression datasets highlight the potential of CCC as a promising fitness function for GPSR without the need of a more advanced coefficient optimisation method for linear scaling. © 2024 IEEE.

Rating Text Classification with Weighted Negative Supervision on Classifier Layer

Bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(BERT) gives full play to the advantages of the attention mechanism, improves the performance of sentence representation, and provides a better choice for various natural language understanding(NLU)tasks. Many methods using BERT as the pre-trained model achieve state-of-the-art performance in almost various text classification scenarios. Among them, the multitask learning framework combining the negative supervision and the pre-trained model solves the issue of the model performance degradation that occurs as the semantic similarity of texts conflicts with the classification standards. The current model does not consider the degree of difference between labels, which leads to insufficient difference information learned by the model, and affects classification performance, especially in the rating classification tasks. On the basis of the multi-task learning model, this paper fully considers the degree of difference between labels, which is expressed by using weights to solve the above problems. We supervise negative samples on the classifier layer instead of the encoder layer, so that the classifier layer can also learn the difference information between the labels. Experimental results show that our model can not only performs well in 2-class and multi-class rating text classification tasks, but also performs well in different languages.

The continuous revolution in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has played a significant role in the development of key consumer applications, including Industry 5.0, autonomous decision-making, fault diagnosis, etc. In practice, autonomous and intelligent robots and flying vehicles (i.e., drones) are also becoming the integral part of Industry 5.0. These vehicles are attaining significant importance nowadays because of their applications in consumer electronics. However, there may be numerous privacy issues in such an infrastructure. Nevertheless, neural computing-driven security solutions have played a significant role in overcoming the security and privacy issues of AI-driven intelligent flying vehicles. Motivated by these facts, this article presents a neural computing-based access control protocol for AI-driven flying vehicles to prevent all possible security threats. A detailed security evaluation of the devised protocol is done formally using the extensively recognized Real-Or-Random (ROR) oracle model. Similarly, the informal security analysis ensures the resistance of our scheme against various potential attacks under the assumptions of CK and DY adversarial models. Moreover, detailed performance scrutiny of the devised protocol with various existing schemes shows the robustness and supremacy of our scheme in terms of computation, communication overhead, and security attributes. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Marine aquaculture image segmentation plays a crucial role in managing aquatic resources and environmental protection. Traditional deep learning models rely on manual parameter tuning for image segmentation, which limits their efficiency and accuracy. This paper proposes an adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to optimize the parameters of the U-net model automatically. The algorithm dynamically adjusts the PSO parameters based on the population’s entropy and clustering metrics and employs a hill-climbing algorithm to address the issue of the PSO easily falling into local optima, enhancing the algorithm’s adaptability. The proposed algorithm updates and iterates particles to automatically find suitable model parameters. The remote sensing data used in this experiment were from the Yellow Sea aquaculture area near Dalian, China, with a segmentation accuracy of 91.8%. This method improves segmentation accuracy, reduces the burden of manual parameter tuning, and provides an effective solution for optimizing deep learning models. © 2025 IEEE.

Evolutionary Neural Architecture Search (ENAS) automates convolutional neural network (CNNs) construction. Cooperative Coevolution (COCE) divides an optimisation problem into sub-problems. Our COCE ENAS algorithm decomposes a CNN into sub-architectures, evolving each sub-architecture separately but in cooperation. Tested on Fashion-MNIST, CIFAR-10, AG's News, and Yelp Reviews Full datasets, our proposed algorithm surpasses several state-of-the-art NAS methods in performance. Our algorithm is the first COCE-based ENAS algorithm that focuses on cooperatively evolving the four CNN sub-architectures and is effective in both image and text classification tasks. © 2024 held by the owner/author(s).

Few-shot image semantic segmentation based on meta-learning: A review

Deep learning-based image semantic segmentation approaches heavily rely on large-scale training datasets with dense annotations and often suffer from scarce semantic labels for unseen categories. This limitation has spurred a research trend in Few-shot image Semantic Segmentation (FSS), which makes it possible to segment objects of new categories using only a few labeled samples. Although more and more FSS methods are emerging and gradually integrated into practical applications, a deep understanding of its achievements and issues is still missing. In this survey, we focus on the recent developments of FSS, specifically on FSS methods based on meta-learning. According to different network architectures, we summarize the related research into three classes, that are Convolutional Neural Network-based (CNN-based) models, Graph Neural Network-based (GNN-based) models, and Transformer-based models. Then, we explore the specific implementations of these models, including parameter-based methods, metric-based methods, attention-based methods, and optimization-based methods. Furthermore, we illustrate datasets and analyze the experimental results of various kinds of methods. Toward the end of the paper, we discuss the limitations of FSS and present its applications and challenges to provide further research directions. © 2024 - IOS Press. All rights reserved.

As the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe,social media plat-forms became an essential source of information and communication for *** students,particularly,turned to Twitter to express their struggles and hardships during this difficult *** better understand the sentiments and experiences of these international students,we developed the Situational Aspect-Based Annotation and Classification(SABAC)text mining *** framework uses a three-layer approach,combining baseline Deep Learning(DL)models with Machine Learning(ML)models as meta-classifiers to accurately predict the sentiments and aspects expressed in tweets from our collected Student-COVID-19 *** the pro-posed aspect2class annotation algorithm,we labeled bulk unlabeled tweets according to their contained aspect ***,we also recognized the challenges of reducing data’s high dimensionality and sparsity to improve performance and annotation on unlabeled *** address this issue,we proposed the Volatile Stopwords Filtering(VSF)technique to reduce sparsity and enhance classifier *** resulting Student-COVID Twitter dataset achieved a sophisticated accuracy of 93.21%when using the random forest as a *** testing on three benchmark datasets,we found that the SABAC ensemble framework performed exceptionally *** findings showed that international students during the pandemic faced various issues,including stress,uncertainty,health concerns,financial stress,and difficulties with online classes and returning to *** analyzing and summarizing these annotated tweets,decision-makers can better understand and address the real-time problems international students face during the ongoing pandemic.

Modern recommendation systems are widely used in modern data *** random and sparse embedding lookup operations are the main performance bottleneck for processing recommendation systems on traditional platforms as they induce abundant data movements between computing units and ***-based processing-in-memory(PIM)can resolve this problem by processing embedding vectors where they are ***,the embedding table can easily exceed the capacity limit of a monolithic ReRAM-based PIM chip,which induces off-chip accesses that may offset the PIM ***,we deploy the decomposed model on-chip and leverage the high computing efficiency of ReRAM to compensate for the decompression performance *** this paper,we propose ARCHER,a ReRAM-based PIM architecture that implements fully yon-chip recommendations under resource ***,we make a full analysis of the computation pattern and access pattern on the decomposed *** on the computation pattern,we unify the operations of each layer of the decomposed model in multiply-and-accumulate *** on the access observation,we propose a hierarchical mapping schema and a specialized hardware design to maximize resource *** the unified computation and mapping strategy,we can coordinatethe inter-processing elements *** evaluation shows that ARCHER outperforms the state-of-the-art GPU-based DLRM system,the state-of-the-art near-memory processing recommendation system RecNMP,and the ReRAM-based recommendation accelerator REREC by 15.79×,2.21×,and 1.21× in terms of performance and 56.06×,6.45×,and 1.71× in terms of energy savings,respectively.

Large-scale graphs usually exhibit global sparsity with local cohesiveness,and mining the representative cohesive subgraphs is a fundamental problem in graph *** k-truss is one of the most commonly studied cohesive subgraphs,in which each edge is formed in at least k 2 triangles.A critical issue in mining a k-truss lies in the computation of the trussness of each edge,which is the maximum value of k that an edge can be in a *** works mostly focus on truss computation in static graphs by sequential ***,the graphs are constantly changing dynamically in the real *** study distributed truss computation in dynamic graphs in this *** particular,we compute the trussness of edges based on the local nature of the k-truss in a synchronized node-centric distributed *** decomposing the trussness of edges by relying only on local topological information is possible with the proposed distributed decomposition ***,the distributed maintenance algorithm only needs to update a small amount of dynamic information to complete the *** experiments have been conducted to show the scalability and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
