This work proposes a new approach to convert the data from sign language to spoken language without exposing the data to a gloss layer. Whenever gloss annotations are used which frequently are incomplete and act as an intermediate representation, it is usually found to be a bottleneck in translating sign language videos. In order to avoid this, the authors use a combination of modern machine learning algorithms to arrive at the conclusion. They use Dino-V2 Vision Transformer to implement the function of extracting the spatial features of the input sign language video frames. This model is particularly suitable for learning and visual patterns in general and particularly for capturing fine details of these patterns. Further, a spatio-temporal transformer layer is added to automate the temporal processing of the Sign-Language which helps in the arrangement of the body gestures and limb movements needed at a specific temporal frame. It is then translated into the desired spoken language using a multilingual Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) model. The approach can be said to be a big leap forward in sign language transliteration especially for such situations where few Gloss annotations are available, and making way for better and improved tools for the Deaf and the hard-of-hearing. © 2024 IEEE.

—Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as the potential aerial base stations (BSs) to improve terrestrial communications. However, the limited onboard energy and antenna power of a UAV restrict its communication range and transmission capability. To address these limitations, this work employs collaborative beamforming through a UAV-enabled virtual antenna array to improve transmission performance from the UAV to terrestrial mobile users, under interference from non-associated BSs and dynamic channel conditions. Specifically, we introduce a memory-based random walk model to more accurately depict the mobility patterns of terrestrial mobile users. Following this, we formulate a multi-objective optimization problem (MOP) focused on maximizing the transmission rate while minimizing the flight energy consumption of the UAV swarm. Given the NP-hard nature of the formulated MOP and the highly dynamic environment, we transform this problem into a multi-objective Markov decision process and propose an improved evolutionary multi-objective reinforcement learning algorithm. Specifically, this algorithm introduces an evolutionary learning approach to obtain the approximate Pareto set for the formulated MOP. Moreover, the algorithm incorporates a long short-term memory network and hyper-sphere-based task selection method to discern the movement patterns of terrestrial mobile users and improve the diversity of the obtained Pareto set. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively generates a diverse range of non-dominated policies and outperforms existing methods. Additional simulations demonstrate the scalability and robustness of the proposed CB-based method under different system parameters and various unexpected circumstances. © 2025 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. Graph-based methods, pivotal for label inference over interconnected objects in many real-world applications, often encounter generalization challenges, if the graph used for model training differs significantly from the graph used for testing. This work delves into Graph Domain Adaptation (GDA) to address the unique complexities of distribution shifts over graph data, where interconnected data points experience shifts in features, labels, and in particular, connecting patterns. We propose a novel, theoretically principled method, Pairwise Alignment (Pair-Align) to counter graph structure shift by mitigating conditional structure shift (CSS) and label shift (LS). Pair-Align uses edge weights to recalibrate the influence among neighboring nodes to handle CSS and adjusts the classification loss with label weights to handle LS. Our method demonstrates superior performance in real-world applications, including node classification with region shift in social networks, and the pileup mitigation task in particle colliding experiments. For the first application, we also curate the largest dataset by far for GDA studies. Our method shows strong performance in synthetic and other existing benchmark datasets. Addressing the issue of inadequate Quality of Service (QoS) in inter-satellite communication under high load conditions due to limited network resources and uneven user distribution in a double-layer satellite constellation, this paper proposes a routing algorithm that satisfies multiple QoS constraints based on an enhanced NSGA-II algorithm. By utilizing the NSGA-II genetic algorithm, a chromosome path encoding scheme is constructed, treating the multi-QoS constraints of paths as a minimization multi-objective optimization within the NSGA-II algorithm. Moreover, elite solution preservation strategies are fine-tuned to procure a broader and more efficacious optimal Pareto front solution ensemble. This ensures the derivation of optimal pathways that meet multiple Quality of Service (QoS) constraints effectively. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm effectively achieves load balancing in satellite network communication. Furthermore, significant improvements are observed in meeting various QoS requirements such as end-to-end latency, latency jitter, packet loss rate, and remaining bandwidth. © 2024 IEEE.

Background: The application of classsification methods through multivariate and machine learning techniques has enormous significance in agricultural sector. It is vital to classify various types of seeds as well as identify the quality of seeds which has a great impact on the production of crops. There is a wide range of genetic variations in dry beans all over the world. Many studies have been conducted previously on various dataset to indentify the sorts of dry beans, however most of them focused on machine learning techniques with binary classification. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate a reliable classifier which has the lowest noise implications and establish an algorithm for dry bean classification effectively. This paper focuses on outlier removals, oversampling with Adaptive Synthetic (ADASYN) algorithm and finding the best classifier to guarantee the highest possible accuracy. Methods: The raw dataset for this study was accessed from UCI Machine Learning Repository. The dataset contained grains having 16 features, 12 dimensions, and 4 distinct shapes. For the purpose of eliminating missing values from the dataset, interquartile range (IQR) with python programming was utilized. Eight most popular classifiers were used in this study which are Logistic Regression (LR), Naïve Bayes (NB), k-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGB), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Multilayer Perception (MLP) with balanced and imbalanced classes. The authors utilized frequency tables, bar diagrams, boxplots, analysis of variance for descriptive analysis as well as data preprocessing. Results: The XGB classifier preferably outperformed than other classifiers with balanced and imbalanced distribution of dry beans within each class. Neural Machine Translation Models with Attention-Based Dropout Layer

In bilingual translation,attention-based Neural Machine Translation(NMT)models are used to achieve synchrony between input and output sequences and the notion of *** model has obtained state-of-the-art performance for several language ***,there has been little work exploring useful architectures for Urdu-to-English machine *** conducted extensive Urdu-to-English translation experiments using Long short-term memory(LSTM)/Bidirectional recurrent neural networks(Bi-RNN)/Statistical recurrent unit(SRU)/Gated recurrent unit(GRU)/Convolutional neural network(CNN)and *** results show that Bi-RNN and LSTM with attention mechanism trained iteratively,with a scalable data set,make precise predictions on unseen *** trained models yielded competitive results by achieving 62.6%and 61%accuracy and 49.67 and 47.14 BLEU scores,*** a qualitative perspective,the translation of the test sets was examined manually,and it was observed that trained models tend to produce repetitive output more *** attention score produced by Bi-RNN and LSTM produced clear alignment,while GRU showed incorrect translation for words,poor alignment and lack of a clear ***,we considered refining the attention-based models by defining an additional attention-based dropout *** dropout fixes alignment errors and minimizes translation errors at the word *** empirical demonstration and comparison with their counterparts,we found improvement in the quality of the resulting translation system and a decrease in the perplexity and over-translation *** ability of the proposed model was evaluated using Arabic-English and Persian-English datasets as *** empirically concluded that adding an attention-based dropout layer helps improve GRU,SRU,and Transformer translation and is considerably more efficient in translation quality and speed.

Nuclei Segmentation in Histopathology Images Using Structure-Preserving Color Normalization Based Ensemble Deep Learning Frameworks

This paper presents a novel computerized technique for the segmentation of nuclei in hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)stained histopathology *** purpose of this study is to overcome the challenges faced in automated nuclei segmentation due to the diversity of nuclei structures that arise from differences in tissue types and staining protocols,as well as the segmentation of variable-sized and overlapping *** this extent,the approach proposed in this study uses an ensemble of the UNet architecture with various Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)architectures as encoder backbones,along with stain normalization and test time augmentation,to improve segmentation ***,this paper employs a Structure-Preserving Color Normalization(SPCN)technique as a preprocessing step for stain *** proposed model was trained and tested on both single-organ and multi-organ datasets,yielding an F1 score of 84.11%,mean Intersection over Union(IoU)of 81.67%,dice score of 84.11%,accuracy of 92.58%and precision of 83.78%on the multi-organ dataset,and an F1 score of 87.04%,mean IoU of 86.66%,dice score of 87.04%,accuracy of 96.69%and precision of 87.57%on the single-organ *** findings demonstrate that the proposed model ensemble coupled with the right pre-processing and post-processing techniques enhances nuclei segmentation capabilities.

Image Inpainting Detection Based on High-Pass Filter Attention Network

Image inpainting based on deep learning has been greatly *** original purpose of image inpainting was to repair some broken photos, suchas inpainting artifacts. However, it may also be used for malicious operations,such as destroying evidence. Therefore, detection and localization of imageinpainting operations are essential. Recent research shows that high-pass filteringfull convolutional network (HPFCN) is applied to image inpainting detection andachieves good results. However, those methods did not consider the spatial location and channel information of the feature map. To solve these shortcomings, weintroduce the squeezed excitation blocks (SE) and propose a high-pass filter attention full convolutional network (HPACN). In feature extraction, we apply concurrent spatial and channel attention (scSE) to enhance feature extraction and obtainmore information. Channel attention (cSE) is introduced in upsampling toenhance detection and localization. The experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve improvement on ImageNet.
