The metaverse is a universal and immersive virtual world, which are components of cyber-physical-social systems (CPSS). The traditional centralized approach to building a metaverse poses risks to user privacy, security, and autonomy. A growing movement towards a decentralized metaverse, built on blockchain and distributed networks, has emerged as a response. This paper presents a conceptual framework for building a de-centralized metaverse emphasising security, user autonomy, and inclusivity within situation-aware CPSS. Drawing on literature from blockchain, virtual worlds, and decentralized systems, we explore the technical and regulatory challenges that must be addressed to create a more secure, autonomous, and inclusive virtual world. Our framework highlights the importance of community-driven governance and transparent data management for building a decentralized metaverse that empowers users and promotes collaboration. © 2023 IEEE.

Enhancing Recommendation Diversity by Re-ranking with Large Language Models

It has long been recognized that it is not enough for a Recommender System (RS) to provide recommendations based only on their relevance to users. Among many other criteria, the set of recommendations may need to be diverse. Diversity is one way of handling recommendation uncertainty and ensuring that recommendations offer users a meaningful choice. The literature reports many ways of measuring diversity and improving the diversity of a set of recommendations, most notably by re-ranking and selecting from a larger set of candidate recommendations. Driven by promising insights from the literature on how to incorporate versatile Large Language Models (LLMs) into the RS pipeline, in this paper we show how LLMs can be used for diversity re-ranking. We begin with an informal study that verifies that LLMs can be used for re-ranking tasks and do have some understanding of the concept of item diversity. Then, we design a more rigorous methodology where LLMs are prompted to generate a diverse ranking from a candidate ranking using various prompt templates with different re-ranking instructions in a zero-shot fashion. We conduct comprehensive experiments testing state-of-the-art LLMs from the GPT and Llama families. We compare their re-ranking capabilities with random re-ranking and various traditional re-ranking methods from the literature. We open-source the code of our experiments for reproducibility. Our findings suggest that the trade-offs (in terms of performance and costs, among others) of LLM-based re-rankers are superior to those of random re-rankers but, as yet, inferior to the ones of traditional re-rankers. However, the LLM approach is promising. LLMs exhibit improved performance on many natural language processing and recommendation tasks and lower inference costs. This study endeavors to develop an improved set of basis functions for nuclear shell-model calculations. The shell model, a well-established approach to understanding nuclear structure,typically employs the harmonic oscillator potential within the mean-field approximation. Given the extensive validation and consistency of harmonic oscillator results with experimental data,we propose a modification by incorporating a centrifugal term that converges toward the Davidson potential. This potential has been extensively studied, and we aim to extract relevant experimental data for the simplest cases in the shell model, namely one-particle and one-hole nuclei. A comprehensive comparison between the Davidson-based results and the harmonic oscillator calculations is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new basis functions.

The most pressing issue with ITS is minimal latency in communication between vehicles, especially given that unstable traffic flow and road safety are two of their main concerns. Because to these problems, I have concentrated my study on employing a vehicular ad hoc network to track speedy object detection and provide the quickest warning to drivers. These systems require ongoing monitoring to function properly, making it possible to use machine learning techniques on vast amounts of data produced by various VANET applications. Machine learning is a technique used to prevent accidents for emergency vehicles by automatically learning and improving the system's rapid object detection stage in situations with high traffic. Our methods effectively implement the VANET aim by providing efficient unsupervised learning of the collected data. In this research, we suggested a unique real-time (DT-YOLO) algorithm-based automatic discovering vehicle gap approach for detecting and identifying objects in congested metropolitan regions. By using VANET technologies, we were able to address traffic, communication, and safety concerns in metropolitan areas. We investigated, using DT-YOLO technology, how these problems may be resolved in a transparent object-tracking system via machine learning techniques. Fast-moving EVs have a high probability of finding a gap to let the driver to make a decision. Moreover, a case study demonstrating a VANET-based scenario of nearest-object and gap-finding to flee from congested traffic with the ideal vehicle moment is shown. The paper examined current challenges and future directions. © 2023 IEEE.

Development of vehicle safety is the work's primary goal, according to its abstract vehicle in traffic congestion using the Internet of Things (IoT). The intense growth of the city's vehicle population needs intelligent traffic systems to be considered resourcefully and sustainably by enhancing the full advantage of recent technology. The unpredictable traffic flow is a substantial issue that carries a colossal traffic movement in real-time scenarios. The random traffic control systems during peak and non-peak hours with unproductive human possessions, which leads to increased traffic and road offenses due to ineffective traffic monitoring systems. To sort down this dynamic scenario, the self-adaptable machine learning approach has been adopted to sequence the intelligent traffic flow by using IOT based early warning system in vehicles. The proposed work focused on the traffic congestion prediction operationalized using the unsupervised algorithm to train the gathered data sets using a neural network. It also aims to deliver a clarification that will upturn the comfort level of travelers to make intelligent and better transference choices. A neural network is a reasonable approach to finding traffic circumstances in sequence with this, the machine learning algorithms and their accuracy, which practices an outline in the collected data sets and then produces crucial decisions in evidence about traffic flow and congestion levels. The most focused part of the research is to enhance the intelligence in the IoT docking system, which prevents the vehicle congestion and returns a flawless, innovative design. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, we present our system Memento 3.0 for participation in the Lifelog Search Challenge 2023, which is a successor to the previous 2 iterations of our system called Memento 1.0 [1] and Memento 2.0 [2]. Memento 3.0 employs image-text embeddings derived from OpenAI CLIP models as well as larger OpenCLIP models trained on ∼5x more data. Our system also significantly reduces the query processing time by almost 75% when compared to its predecessor systems by employing a cluster-based search technique. We additionally make important updates to the system's user interface to offer more flexibility to the user and at the same time be better suited to efficiently handle new query types introduced in the Lifelog Search Challenge. © 2023 Owner/Author.

In this work we propose a privacy-preserving, blockchain-enabled e-voting system that integrates Linkable Ring Signatures (LRS) to ensure a secure, scalable, and privacypreserving solution for modern e-voting, providing a framework for trusted and transparent electoral processes in the digital age. Our system ensures voter anonymity while preventing double voting through the use of a linkability tag, while blockchain technology is employed to provide an immutable and transparent ledger for vote recording. The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) is utilized for decentralized and GDPR-compliant storage of public keys. Performance analysis shows scalability challenges for LRS in large elections, but the system remains efficient for small scale use. Future work will focus on optimizing scalability for larger deployments. © 2024 IEEE.

Advances in digitization and resource-sharing business models have created new opportunities for manufacturing companies, enhancing competitiveness and resilience. However, these benefits bring computational challenges in efficiently planning and scheduling shared resources. Therefore, there is a need for scalable and quick solutions for practical applications. Shared manufacturing systems share characteristics with parallel machine scheduling, allowing for the application of advancements from this domain. This research focuses on Multi-Agent Parallel Machine Scheduling (MAPMS) in shared manufacturing, specifically addressing scenarios involving two parallel machines and distinct agents managing exclusive, set of non-overlapping orders. The study introduces a novel multi-objective mixed integer programming (MIP) model for order scheduling across multiple facilities, accounting for sequence-dependent setup times between orders. It also proposes a new heuristic method designed for industrial use. Benchmark instances demonstrate the practicality of both the MIP model and heuristic, contributing valuable insights into MAPMS challenges in shared manufacturing environments. © 2025 The Authors.

The safety of the vehicles is given great importance by advanced intelligent transportation systems. We are here to make sure that swift transit vehicles and infrastructure communicate with one other quickly. The majority of the vehicles need regular monitoring for appropriate warnings and road maps to achieve their ultimate objective in a timely manner in the hill station bad environment, and travel in hairpin bends and risky turning in particular is a duty that is vital for ITS. Here, my study will provide a strategy for preventing accidents by applying a sophisticated early warning system before notifying the car in a certain circumstance. In order to prevent accidents, machine learning is a technique where the system automatically learns and enhances the rapid object detection stage in bobby pin road turning scenarios. Here, my study offers effective unsupervised learning of these characteristics based on the acquired data, which in turn serves as the foundation for the clustering I performed, which successfully builds a mobile ad hoc network. In this work, we suggested an innovative automated discovering vehicle prier that uses the UNetXST technique in real-time to notify warring for vehicle in three-way shining LED light with blinking mode, slowing warring message in display unit, and beep alarm sound. By combining V2I and V2V technologies and sending messages to the central traffic light management system, we highlighted safety and communication. In worst-case scenarios, we employ a v2v technology sensor to detect the vehicle that will cross the junction road, and we investigate two-way merging technology's potential to implement and resolve these problems in transparent object tracking in the turning system. We looked at future direction and hurdles at this time in addition to a case study illustrating a VANET-based scenario of a critical urban road turning, receiving the earliest notice to flee from a traffic collision, and experiencing the perfect EV momen

Music streaming services feature billions of playlists created by users, professional editors or algorithms. In this content overload scenario, it is crucial to characterise playlists, so that music can be effectively organised and accessed. Playlist titles and descriptions are proposed in natural language either manually by music editors and users or automatically from pre-defined templates. However, the former is time-consuming while the latter is limited by the vocabulary and covered music themes. In this work, we propose PLAYNTELL, a data-efficient multi-modal encoder-decoder model for automatic playlist captioning. Compared to existing music captioning algorithms, PLAYNTELL leverages also linguistic and musical knowledge to generate correct and thematic captions. We benchmark PLAYNTELL on a new editorial playlists dataset collected from two major music streaming services. PLAYNTELL yields 2x-3x higher BLEU@4and CIDEr than state of the art captioning algorithms. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.
