Application of improved virtual sample and sparse representation in face recognition

Sparse representation plays an important role in the research of face *** a deformable sample classification task,face recognition is often used to test the performance of classification *** face recognition,differences in expression,angle,posture,and lighting conditions have become key factors that affect recognition ***,there may be significant differences between different image samples of the same face,which makes image classification very ***,how to build a robust virtual image representation becomes a vital *** solve the above problems,this paper proposes a novel image classification ***,to better retain the global features and contour information of the original sample,the algorithm uses an improved non‐linear image representation method to highlight the low‐intensity and high‐intensity pixels of the original training sample,thus generating a virtual ***,by the principle of sparse representation,the linear expression coefficients of the original sample and the virtual sample can be calculated,*** obtaining these two types of coefficients,calculate the distances between the original sample and the test sample and the distance between the virtual sample and the test *** two distances are converted into distance ***,a simple and effective weight fusion scheme is adopted to fuse the classification scores of the original image and the virtual *** fused score will determine the final classification *** experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms other typical sparse representation classification methods.

Modern computer graphics systems usually manage a set of internal data to store control parameters and all kind of graphics data. The behind problem on these graphics system data is that they are frequently updated and retrieved with variety of data types, even they are initially stored as specific data types. To support these updates and retrievals with various data types, modern graphics systems typically use data type conversion features, and even in the worst cases, they should provide all combinations of internally stored data types and newly provided or retrieved data types. In this paper, we show how to efficiently provide all the required combinations of data type conversions, with motivations, analysis, and overall designs. We also show typical type conversion scenarios, with specific API function examples. Our design shows that it can improve the internal architecture and the internal efficiency of modern computer graphics systems. In its implementation, we use C++std:: map container for fast lookup of the best-suitable conversion function. This overall scheme was integrated in our existing systems, and shows its feasibility and correctness. © 2025 IEEE.

Simultaneous Speech Extraction for Multiple Target Speakers Under Meeting Scenarios

The common target speech separation directly estimates the target source, ignoring the interrelationship between different speakers at each frame. We propose a multiple-target speech separation (MTSS) model to simultaneously extract each speaker’s voice from the mixed speech rather than just optimally estimating the target source. Moreover, we propose a speaker diarization (SD) aware MTSS system (SD-MTSS). By exploiting the target speaker voice activity detection (TSVAD) and the estimated mask, our SD-MTSS model can extract the speech signal of each speaker concurrently in a conversational recording without additional enrollment audio in advance. Experimental results show that our MTSS model achieves improvements of 1.38 dB signal-to-distortion ratio (SDR), 1.34 dB scale-invariant signal-to-distortion ratio (SISDR), and 0.13 perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) over the baseline on the WSJ0-2mix-extr dataset, separately. The SD-MTSS system makes a 19.2% relative speaker dependent character error rate reduction on the Alimeeting dataset. © Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2024.

In recent years, massive services that provide similar functions continue to emerge. Since services sensitive to latency and throughput are often expected to have high Quality of Service (QoS), how to accurately predict QoS has become a challenging issue. Some current deep learning (DL) based approaches usually simply concatenate the embedding vectors, without considering the correlation between embedding dimensions. Besides, the high-order feature interactions are not sufficiently learned. To this end, this paper proposes a Convolutional Neural Network based QoS prediction model with Dimensional Correlation, named QPCN. First, the two dimensional interaction features is explicitly obtained by modeling the embedding vectors. Then, the convolutional neural network is utilized to perform feature extraction and complete QoS prediction. Compared with the fully connected network, QPCN can build a deeper model and learn high-order features. In addition, the parameters of QPCN are significantly reduced, which will reduce the time and energy consumption of inference. The artificial pancreas (AP), commonly known as a closed-loop insulin delivery control system, consists of three primary components: a glucose sensor for measuring blood glucose concentration (BGC), a control algorithm responsible for determining the rate of exogenous insulin delivery (IDR), and an insulin infusion pump. In this paper, a novel approach is introduced for designing a guaranteed cost observer-based linear parameter variable (GC-LPV) control system for blood glucose levels in Diabetic Patients. The Bergman Minimal Model (BMM), which is widely used for understanding the glucose-insulin regulatory system, is described as a Quasi-Linear Parameter Varying (QLPV) system. The main innovation of the paper lies in presenting a new method that optimizes performance without considering input in the cost function and the concurrent design of LPV observer and LPV controller. One notable aspect of the design conditions is the incorporation of input saturation considerations during the design process. This inclusion leads to performance improvement by addressing the constraint of insulin injection effectively. Another significant contribution of the paper is its unified approach to transforming the problem into a convex optimization problem, incorporating Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). The proposed adaptive dynamic output structure provides flexibility in controller design while ensuring stability and performance, even in the presence of parametric uncertainty. Simulation results confirm that the GC-LPV controller yields improved performance compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2013 IEEE.

It's very meaningful to conduct the driver to the parking space available in the parking lot clearly and accurately by computer vision and computational intelligence. While it is an extremely difficult task, because of the scene complexity in the parking lot. In this paper, a new computational intelligence technology is proposed to detect parking spaces available in the parking lot outdoor based on fusing of Region Convolution Neural Network (RCNN) and random forests (RF), and we called it as RCNN-RF. Within the RCNN-RF, a new activation function is design. And with the help of random forests, RCNN-RF overcomes scene complexity includes illumination, weather, and slight occlusion successfully. Extensive experimental results on the benchmark dataset named PKLot and the self-built dataset named GZMU-LOT outperform those of the state-of-the-art, and it shows the superiority of our proposed RCNN-RF method. © 2024 SPIE.

Biochar was prepared by using agricultural waste cotton straw, and methylene blue was used as the target adsorbent to study the biochar preparation process and the conditions of activation and adsorption, and to explore the process parameters for the best adsorption effect. The adsorption effect of cotton straw- Based biochar prepared with 40% acid modification and pyrolysis temperature of 450℃ was better by adsorption of 20 mg/L methylene blue solution. The adsorption conditions could achieve the best adsorption effect when the biochar dosage was satisfied at room temperature of 30℃ and pH 4. The removal rate was up to 98.44%. © 2023 IOS Press BV. Power systems serve as the fundamental infrastructure for the socioeconomic development of modern societies. Researching power systems can stimulate the growth of the power industry and contribute to the sustainable development of society. This paper aims to address uncertainties prevalent in power systems, including extreme weather events, disruptions in renewable energy supply, and adjustments in economic policies. To achieve this objective, an uncertain Nash equilibrium model is established. Subsequently, a game theoretic analysis is conducted to maximize the interests of users, grid companies, and proxy purchasers. Under the condition of not necessarily continuous differentiability, the Riemann-Stieltjes discrete approximation method has been proposed. The difficulty of calculating the expectation of the optimal revenue function has been resolved. Weak first-order equilibrium condition based on Clarke’s generalized gradient, the convergence and convergence rate of uncertain Nash equilibrium solutions are proved. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. Ancient Character Recognition: A Novel Image dataset of Shui Manuscript Characters and Classification Model

Shui manuscripts are part of the national intangible cultural heritage of China. Owing to the particularity of text reading, the level of informatization and intelligence in the protection of Shui manuscript culture is not adequate. To address this issue, this study created Shuishu＿C, the largest image dataset of Shui manuscript characters that has been reported. Furthermore, after extensive experimental validation, we proposed ShuiNet-A,a lightweight artificial neural network model based on the attention mechanism, which combines channel and spatial dimensions to extract key features and finally recognize Shui manuscript characters. The effectiveness and stability of ShuiNet-A were verified through multiple sets of experiments. Our results showed that, on the Shui manuscript dataset with 113 categories, the accuracy of ShuiN et-A was 99.8%, which is 1.5% higher than those of similar studies. The proposed model could contribute to the classification accuracy and protection of ancient Shui manuscript characters.
