data clustering is an essential technique for analyzing complex datasets and continues to be a central research topic in data *** clustering algorithms,such as K-means,are widely used due to their simplicity and *** paper proposes a novel Spiral Mechanism-Optimized Phasmatodea Population Evolution Algorithm(SPPE)to improve clustering *** SPPE algorithm introduces several enhancements to the standard Phasmatodea Population Evolution(PPE)***,a Variable Neighborhood Search(VNS)factor is incorporated to strengthen the local search capability and foster population ***,a position update model,incorporating a spiral mechanism,is designed to improve the algorithm’s global exploration and convergence ***,a dynamic balancing factor,guided by fitness values,adjusts the search process to balance exploration and exploitation *** performance of SPPE is first validated on CEC2013 benchmark functions,where it demonstrates excellent convergence speed and superior optimization results compared to several state-of-the-art metaheuristic *** further verify its practical applicability,SPPE is combined with the K-means algorithm for data clustering and tested on seven *** results show that SPPE-K-means improves clustering accuracy,reduces dependency on initialization,and outperforms other clustering *** study highlights SPPE’s robustness and efficiency in solving both optimization and clustering challenges,making it a promising tool for complex data analysis tasks.

We introduce ALARM, the first framework modeling hierarchical rewards in reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), which is designed to enhance the alignment of large language models (LLMs) with human preferences. The framework addresses the limitations of current alignment approaches, which often struggle with the inconsistency and sparsity of human supervision signals, by integrating holistic rewards with aspect-specific rewards. This integration enables more precise and consistent guidance of language models towards desired outcomes, particularly in complex and open text generation tasks. By employing a methodology that filters and combines multiple rewards based on their consistency, the framework provides a reliable mechanism for improving model alignment. We validate our approach through applications in long-form question answering and machine translation tasks, employing gpt-3.5-turbo for pairwise comparisons, and demonstrate improvements over existing baselines. Our work underscores the effectiveness of hierarchical rewards modeling in refining LLM training processes for better human preference alignment. This paper reviews three main aspects of authentication protocols of Internet of Things (IoT): classifications and limitations, current trends, and opportunities. First, we explore the significance of IoT authentication protocols in ensuring secure communication and the protection of transmitted and received data, focusing on the classifications and associated limitations. Second, we discuss the latest developments and trends, such as using blockchain technology and machine learning to enhance authentication protocols. Third, we highlight the future opportunities, including the development of human-centric authentication designs and improved platform interoperability. At the end of this paper, we provided some insights gained for the new researcher, offering analyses of the trends and challenges in this field, giving recommendations for improving IoT authentication protocols, and emphasizing the need for further research and cooperation to develop advanced security solutions. © 2016 IEEE.

This paper examines the submissions of various participating teams to the task on Hate and Offensive Language Detection in Telugu Codemixed Text (HOLD-Telugu) organized as part of DravidianLangTech 2024. In order to identify the contents containing harmful information in Telugu codemixed social media text, the shared task pushes researchers and academicians to build models. The dataset for the task was created by gathering YouTube comments and annotated manually. A total of 23 teams participated and submitted their results to the shared task. The rank list was created by assessing the submitted results using the macro F1-score. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

When some application scenarios need to use semantic segmentation technology, like automatic driving, the primary concern comes to real-time performance rather than extremely high segmentation accuracy. To achieve a good trade-off between speed and accuracy, two-branch architecture has been proposed in recent years. It treats spatial information and semantics information separately which allows the module to be composed of two networks both not heavy. However, the process of fusing features with two different scales becomes a performance bottleneck for many nowaday two-branch models. In this research, we design a new fusion mechanism for two-branch architecture which is guided by attention computation. To be precise, we use the Dual-Guided Attention (DGA) module we proposed to replace some multi-scale transformations with the calculation of attention which means we only use several attention layers of near linear complexity to achieve performance comparable to frequently-used multi-layer fusion. To ensure that our module can be effective, we use Residual U-blocks (RSU) to build one of the two branches in our networks which aims to obtain better multi-scale features. Extensive experiments on Cityscapes and CamVid dataset show the effectiveness of our method. On Cityscapes, our light version network without pretrain weight can achieve 71.1% mIoU at 163 FPS on a single Nvidia RTX 3070 using full resolution images(1024×2048pix). And the large version can achieve 77.9% mIoU with a speed of 43 FPS which still reaches the real-time criterion. Leveraging D-NN trained on neuroimaging data, we can effectively estimate the chronological ages of normal persons;this projected brain age has potential as a biomarker for identifying age-related disorders. The suggested technique employs a CNN cascade network from DL and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm from ML (SVM). These techniques have been employed to train MRI scans of the brain, classifying them into regular (unaffected by illness), Alzheimer’s disorder (AD), and neurocognitive disability. That we also have the ability to determine ages thanks to the age classifications on the photos. In the evolving landscape of human-computer interaction, this paper introduces an innovative framework poised to revolutionize chatbot systems. Our framework, meticulously designed for emotionally aware multimodal chatbots, seamlessly integrates real-time face and emotion recognition with natural language processing. Currently in the developmental phase, the framework exhibits a distinctive proficiency in executing a diverse array of human instructions. These instructions span tasks such as generating detailed captions, object counting, and responding to general queries. Leveraging parameter-efficient fine-tuning from OpenFlamingo, augmented by the inclusion of the Low-rank Adapter (LoRA), our framework strategically prioritizes versatility and operational efficiency. The core of our approach lies in the establishment of instruction templates that intricately merge both vision and language data. This strategic integration forms the backbone of our multi-modality instruction tuning methodology, enhancing the adaptability of the chatbot. Recognizing the pivotal role of high-quality training data, we emphasize its significance in shaping the dialogue performance of the chatbot. As the framework progresses through its developmental stages, this research lays a robust foundation for the creation of a versatile conversational agent. The envisioned applications of this agent range from enhancing customer service experiences to providing valuable support in mental health scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) detects context through sensors capturing data from dynamic physical environments, in order to inform automation decisions within cyber physical systems (CPS). Diverse types of uncertainty in the IoT pipeline can propagate within and across nodes, involving complex interactions with security, privacy, and trust that remain largely unexplored. This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the types of uncertainties in IoT and how they propagate within IoT nodes and networks. We consider adversarial uncertainty in the context of distributed IoT networks to capture perturbations due to malicious actors in the network that can influence IoT security, privacy and trust. We examine the propagation of adversarial uncertainty and well-known uncertainty types, namely aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty, within the five distinct stages of sensing, communication, storage, processing and decision-making in an IoT pipeline, across network layer boundaries, and across nodes within an IoT network. Using this mapping, we analyse the interactions between the uncertainty types and their propagation, and security, privacy, and trust in IoT. Based on this analysis, we discuss guidelines and considerations for mitigating uncertainty in IoT through a smart grid use case study. © The Author(s) 2024.

With the recent advent of technology, social networks are accessible 24/7 using mobile devices. During covid-19 pandemic the propagation of misinformation are mostly related to the disease, its cures and prevention. With Twitter as the medium this information was spreaded to millions of people who lack domain specific knowledge. This can lead to bloster fear and direct damage to the people. This research focuses on identifying the veracity of the Twitter posts behind pandemic situation. The authors have proposed a Transformer Model using Bat Algorithm for identifying the fake news. This model is trained and evaluated using infodemic metadata. Our experimental results shows by which proposed model accurately detected the fake news and achieved 96.5% of f1-score. © 2024 IEEE.
