Anticipating the imminent surge of retired lithium-ion batteries(R-LIBs)from electric vehicles,the need for safe,cost-effective and environmentally friendly disposal technologies has *** paper seeks to offer a comprehensive overview of the entire disposal framework for R-LIBs,encompassing a broad spectrum of activities,including screening,repurposing and ***,we delve deeply into a thorough examination of current screening technologies,shifting the focus from a mere enumeration of screening methods to the exploration of the strategies for enhancing screening ***,we outline battery repurposing with associated key factors,summarizing stationary applications and sizing methods for R-LIBs in their second life.A particular light is shed on available reconditioning solutions,demonstrating their great potential in facilitating battery safety and lifetime in repurposing scenarios and identifying their techno-economic *** the realm of battery recycling,we present an extensive survey of pre-treatment options and subsequent material recovery ***,we introduce several global leading recyclers to illustrate their industrial processes and technical ***,relevant challenges and evolving trends are investigated in pursuit of a sustainable end-of-life management and disposal *** hope that this study can serve as a valuable resource for researchers,industry professionals and policymakers in this field,ultimately facilitating the adoption of proper disposal practices.

The future sixth-generation(6G) paradigm aims to seamlessly integrate communication and environmental sensing capabilities into a single radio signal, promising improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness through simultaneous data communications and environmental perception. At the core of this evolution, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) and its advanced waveforms emerge as pivotal for integrated sensing and communications(ISAC). This study introduces a concise and unified ISAC waveform design framework based on orthogonal multicarriers. This framework supports versatile applications of OFDM and its derivative waveforms within a generalized ISAC system, marking a significant leap in integrating communication and sensing capabilities. A distinguishing feature of this framework is its adaptability,allowing users to intelligently select modulation strategies based on their specific environmental needs. This adaptability optimizes performance across diverse scenarios. Central to our innovations is the proposal of discrete Fourier transformspread OFDM with index modulation(DFT-S-OFDM-IM). This framework is paired with newly proposed signal processing methods for single-input single-output and multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Extensive evaluations highlight DFT-S-OFDM-IM's superiority, including dramatically reduced peak-to-average power ratios(PAPRs), competitive communication performance, and exceptional sensing capabilities, striking an elegant balance between communication capacity and environmental sensing precision.

A developing technology that can be highly helpful for both intelligent transportation services and safety and security is the Automobile ad hoc network, or VANET. Nevertheless because of the great mobility and wireless connection of cars, there are numerous security risks that jeopardize people's safety and security when driving. The Sybil assault, in which the perpetrator makes up a false identity to obtain significant influence within the network and delay certain services and manipulate others by fictitious voting, is one of the main security issues. People can avoid being duped by an attacker or falling into traps when attacks are detected early. This study describes two methods for detecting Sybil attacks: the first uses the Poisson Distribution Method in order to forecast traffic on the street, whereas the latter examines network efficiency for packet delivery ratio (PDR) in both benign additionally malicious environments. According to the simulation's findings, PDR lowers the number of fictitious cars in the network. Our method is straightforward and efficient because it doesn't involve a lot of computational overhead and doesn't breach users' privacy concerns. © 2024 IEEE.

As the metaverse develops rapidly, 3D facial age transformation is attracting increasing attention, which may bring many potential benefits to a wide variety of users, e.g., 3D aging figures creation, 3D facial data augmentation and editing. Compared with 2D methods, 3D face aging is an underexplored problem. To fill this gap, we propose a new mesh-to-mesh Wasserstein generative adversarial network (MeshWGAN) with a multi-task gradient penalty to model a continuous bi-directional 3D facial geometric aging process. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first architecture to achieve 3D facial geometric age transformation via real 3D scans. As previous image-to-image translation methods cannot be directly applied to the 3D facial mesh, which is totally different from 2D images, we built a mesh encoder, decoder, and multi-task discriminator to facilitate mesh-to-mesh transformations. To mitigate the lack of 3D datasets containing children's faces, we collected scans from 765 subjects aged 5-17 in combination with existing 3D face databases, which provided a large training dataset. Experiments have shown that our architecture can predict 3D facial aging geometries with better identity preservation and age closeness compared to 3D trivial baselines. We also demonstrated the advantages of our approach via various 3D face-related graphics applications. © 1995-2012 IEEE.

LPL-VIO: monocular visual-inertial odometry with deep learning-based point and line features

Visual-inertial SLAM (VINS) has garnered substantial interest in the field of mobile robotics due to its robustness and cost-effectiveness. The incorporation of both point and line features in visual SLAM has shown significant performance improvements compared to relying solely on point features. Furthermore, learning-based features consistently outperform traditional hand-crafted features across a diverse range of tasks. Leveraging all these observations, we propose a novel deep learning technique, termed learning-based point and line visual-inertial odometry (LPL-VIO), which is aimed to enhance robustness and performance of traditional systems. LPL-VIO takes a 2-stage approach, including a deep learning front-end and a traditional nonlinear optimization back-end. In the first stage (front-end), we employ proposed networks for points and lines to extract and track deep learning-based point and line features in visual images, while implementing IMU preintegration. In the second stage (back-end), we adopt a sliding window strategy to tightly couple point and line re-projection errors with IMU preintegration residuals. These residuals are optimized using bundle adjustment for precise global pose estimation. Extensive experiments are conducted on both public EuRoC datasets and our own real-world dataset collected in challenging outdoor environments. Qualitative and quantitative results show that our method exhibits strong competitiveness compared with the existing point–line techniques, and outperforms the popular VINS-Mono. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Reward shaping is a promising approach to tackle the sparse-reward challenge of reinforcement learning by reconstructing more informative and dense rewards. This paper introduces a novel dual-agent reward shaping framework, composed of two synergistic agents: a policy agent to learn the optimal behavior and a reward agent to generate auxiliary reward signals. The proposed method operates as a self-learning approach, without reliance on expert knowledge or hand-crafted functions. By restructuring the rewards to capture future-oriented information, our framework effectively enhances the sample efficiency and convergence stability. Furthermore, the auxiliary reward signals facilitate the exploration of the environment in the early stage and the exploitation of the policy agent in the late stage, achieving a self-adaptive balance. We evaluate our framework on continuous control tasks with sparse and delayed rewards, demonstrating its robustness and superiority over existing methods. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

The rise of sophisticated phishing attacks has necessitated stronger security measures for email communication, especially in sensitive environments. This paper proposes a Quantum Secure Email Communication Framework designed to prevent phishing by integrating Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) with traditional email security mechanisms. The framework leverages quantum keys to encrypt email communication, ensuring that only legitimate users with the correct quantum key can send and receive secure emails. The architecture also incorporates a Phishing Detection Engine that validates email content and sender information using quantum-encrypted keys, alerting users to potential phishing threats. The system operates through the secure exchange of quantum keys between the sender's email server and the user via a QKD Channel, with quantum encryption applied to secure outgoing and incoming emails. In parallel, the phishing detection module analyses all email traffic for signs of malicious activity, using a QKD-based Email Validator to confirm the legitimacy of emails. This hybrid approach ensures both the privacy of communication and the proactive detection of phishing attempts, offering a robust defense mechanism in the increasingly hostile landscape of digital communication. © 2024 IEEE.

Concerns with image security exist in every sector that uses digital photographs. Historically, public safety and forensics have depended on images from the crime scene, biometric photos, suspect photos, and other sources. With the development of digital imaging, there has been a significant increase in the use of digital images in this field. Although the use of digital image processing has led to the creation of several new forensic methods of inquiry, it has also simplified picture modification. Digital picture validity is an issue since several snipping and image alteration programs are freely available to the public. It serves as solid proof in many different types of crimes and is utilized as documentation for many purposes. Creating and modifying photos has become easier and more accessible with the development of image manipulation and editing tools. The two most common methods of photo counterfeiting are copy-and-move forgery and image splicing. An image can be spliced, or combined from two photos, to hide or show an error scenario. A section of a picture can be copied and pasted into another image. The many kinds of digital image frauds are examined in this study along with software that detects them. An analysis was done on the methods currently in use for spotting phony photos. © 2024 IEEE.

The rapid advancements in quantum computing pose significant threats to traditional cryptographic systems, which are foundational to securing modern digital infrastructure. Cryptosystems like RSA and ECC, currently relied upon for secure communications, are vulnerable to quantum attacks, necessitating the development of post-quantum cryptography (PQC). The proposed methodology in this paper focuses on safeguarding critical infrastructure from quantum-based cyberattacks by leveraging PQC. The framework integrates several key strategies: hybrid cryptography, which combines classical and post-quantum algorithms to ensure security even as quantum threats evolve;quantum key distribution (QKD), ensuring secure communication by detecting any interception attempts;and post-quantum algorithms designed to resist quantum computing capabilities. The methodology also includes a robust security layer with incident response and threat monitoring systems to detect anomalies and initiate rapid responses to potential attacks. This holistic approach secures vital sectors like healthcare, energy, and telecommunications by future-proofing cryptographic measures against quantum threats. © 2024 IEEE.
