Ciphertext-policy attribute-based proxy re-encryption via constrained PRFs

Dear editor,To maintain the confidentiality of the sensitive data, users tend to encrypt their data under an associated access policy(or attributes) before outsourcing them to the *** the traditional access control model via cryptographic approaches, e.g., ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption(or CP-ABE), users are allowed to formulate access policies and let the encrypted data associated with access policies. Only authenticated users, whose own attributes matching their formulated access policies, have the privilege to recover the ciphertext. However, once the access policies are formulated, the authorized user cannot update it unless the user downloads and re-encrypts the file under the new access policy. Hence, to achieve dynamic access control, the model of ciphertext-policy attribute-based proxy re-encryption(or CP-AB-PRE) is adopted by integrating the proxy re-encryption(or PRE).

The increasing occurrence of extreme weather events urges us to reevaluate the resiliency and vulnerability aspects of our most critical infrastructures — such as power grids — as their failures result in both economic loss and severe human hardship. Seen through the lens of alleviating human suffering, it is crucial to be able to identify critical system components of the infrastructure for targeted hardening given resource constraints. This effort is of particular importance in islanded areas such as Puerto Rico where hurricanes are frequent and resources are limited, and where the spatially diverse effects of power loss on human suffering are all the more severe. Recent studies on evaluating infrastructure networks during extreme weather events have taken a simulation based approach that incorporates a variety of component models, such as weather realizations, topological network models, fragility models, and power flow models to estimate expected loss of service. In this work, we expand such a Component Based Event Simulation (CBES) methodology proposed in the literature and integrate it with a social vulnerability modeling component. This paradigm-advancing approach of synthesizing the cutting edge capability of power network modeling and the social impacts of the power transmission network failure is demonstrated for the island of Puerto Rico. Our work exemplifies the efficacy of this integrated modeling framework in developing a decision metric for targeted transmission line hardening. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd

Sentiment analysis as a field has come a long way since it was first introduced as a task nearly 20 years ago. It has widespread commercial applications in various domains like marketing, risk management, market research, and politics, to name a few. Given its saturation in specific subtasks - such as sentiment polarity classification - and datasets, there is an underlying perception that this field has reached its maturity. In this article, we discuss this perception by pointing out the shortcomings and under-explored, yet key aspects of this field that are necessary to attain true sentiment understanding. We analyze the significant leaps responsible for its current relevance. Further, we attempt to chart a possible course for this field that covers many overlooked and unanswered questions. DNA storage provides a high storage density and durability, but current systems experience high latency and lack data security. This study proposed the use of frequency dictionary mapping coding (FDMC) to enable handle-level random access of DNA archival storage. In addition, a hybrid e-molecular encryption strategy and a multi-level error-correction algorithm were introduced to ensure data security and integrity. The simulation and wet experiment results demonstrated that FDMC achieved handle-level random access in a lossless encrypted DNA storage system, which balanced security and robustness. Even in extreme cases, in which there was a 10% loss of DNA sequences, this system still recovered 91.74% of the original data while ensuring a storage density above 1.80 bits per nucleotide. In summary, FDMC enhances the application potential of DNA as a storage medium and bridges the gap between DNA storage and traditional storage modes.

In the Doppler biological radar-based applications of noncontact measurement of vital signs, effectively extracting heartbeat information from weak thoracic mechanical motion is an important problem to be solved. This study is aimed at extracting heartbeat signal via the technology combined with Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT), Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Adaptive Noise Canceller (ANC) from radar recording. The simulated data and the data collected by Doppler radar biosensor realized in laboratory are employed to validate the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method has the ability of detection for the heart rate and heart rate variability indexes in rest state, it has certain advantages in time-consuming and detection accuracy. Therefore, the current method provides another way to process vital sign signals recorded by Doppler radar.

In biomolecular programming, researchers have attempted to use DNA molecules as a new kind of highly reliable raw material, due to the high predictability and good programmability of DNA molecules, and construct DNA circuits that can realize logical calculation. In DNA circuits with a multi-step cascade, autonomy, and complex behavior, it is very important to be able to controllably activate and regulate toeholds. Therefore, we propose a strategy using an enzyme-assisted cleavage regulation system to solve the above problems. In this strategy, the DNA input strand regulates the recognition domain of FokI and initiates the activity of FokI due to the reconfiguration of programmable information. In addition, FokI induced conformational changes regulate the toehold-mediated strand displacement reaction, which optimizes the complex function and the signal transmission of logic circuits. In order to prove the feasibility of this strategy, we constructed a series of logic gates (YES, AND, and INHIBIT), and on this basis, we successfully implemented both a demultiplexer circuit and a multiplexer cascade circuit. The proposed enzyme-assisted cleavage regulation strategy provides a new approach for constructing more complex molecular computing systems, with applications in biosensors and medical detection systems.

ABSTRACTABSTRACTThe term metaverse is described as the next iteration of the Internet. Metaverse is a virtual platform that uses extended reality technologies, i.e. augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, 3D graphics, and other emerging technologies to allow real-time interactions and experiences in ways that are not possible in the physical world. Companies have begun to notice the impact of the metaverse and how it may help maximize profits. The purpose of this paper is to offer perspectives on several important areas, i.e. marketing, tourism, manufacturing, operations management, education, the retailing industry, banking services, healthcare, and human resource management that are likely to be impacted by the adoption and use of a metaverse. Each includes an overview, opportunities, challenges, and a potential research agenda.

A novel visual attention method for target detection from SAR images

Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) imaging systems have been widely used in civil and military fields due to their all-weather and all-day abilities and various other advantages. However, due to image data exponentially increasing, there is a need for novel automatic target detection and recognition technologies. In recent years, the visual attention mechanism in the visual system has helped humans effectively deal with complex visual signals. In particular, biologically inspired top-down attention models have garnered much attention recently. This paper presents a visual attention model for SAR target detection, comprising a bottom-up stage and top-down *** the bottom-up step, the Itti model is improved based on the difference between SAR and optical images. The top-down step fully utilizes prior information to further detect targets. Extensive detection experiments carried out on the benchmark Moving and Stationary Target Acquisition and Recognition(MSTAR) dataset show that, compared with typical visual models and other popular detection methods, our model has increased ability and robustness for SAR target detection, under a range of Signal to Clutter Ratio(SCR) conditions and scenes. In addition, results obtained using only the bottom-up stage are inferior to those of the proposed method, further demonstrating the effectiveness and rationality of a top-down strategy. In summary, our proposed visual attention method can be considered a potential benchmark resource for the SAR research community.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) equipped with high time resolution that distracted by incoherent brain sources which including ocular artifacts (OAs) generating by blinks is of great significance. Therefore, these OAs got corrected before extracting information from EEG is indispensable. Improved Moment Matching (IMM) is a high-speed denoising algorithm suitable for removing OA in multi-channel EEG, which is an improvement of the moment matching method used to remove stripe noise in hyperspectral images. On foundation of this, this paper proposes an optimization algorithm for IMM based on Gaussian decay function (IMM_G). In the first place, the construction of the reference signal is optimized via utilizing a Gaussian decay function, thereby preventing the signal distortion caused by the filter. And then, a method for judging the to-be-processed interval is proposed to realizes the individualized processing of different channels. As a result, through quantitative comparison experiments with simulated data and real data from the UAIS laboratory, it was identified that IMM_G showed less time complexity, significantly enhanced arithmetic speed and denoising consequence while the detail retention ability of the original method for the non-blinking region of multi-channel EEG data is maintained. Hence, this method could be extensively used in High-density EEG (hdEEG) OAs removal scene.

Since the digital technologies emerge, digital heritage has become an integral part of the world's cultural heritage under the leadership of UNESCO. With the development of digitization and accumulation of data, the digital information processing system for cultural heritage keeps updating. However, there still exist the problems of low information integration degree and weak information sharing ability, severely restricting the promotion and integration of cultural heritage and society. This paper proposes a digital cultural heritage cloud platform, where basic data service, knowledge service, engineering application, visual exhibition were realized through HTTP request. This platform completely encapsulated a large number of cultural heritage data processing algorithms. Accordingly, a cultural heritage data management system, a cultural heritage knowledge construction and application system, a cultural heritage display, analysis and evaluation system, and a cultural heritage microenvironment index monitoring system were embedded in this platform. In addition, the platform provided API for professional customized development to provide effective support.
