We herein simulate the scheduling process of automatic guided vehicle (AGV for short) with Plant Simulation, and try to obtain an optimal configuration for meeting practical engineering requirement in one assembly plant. We defined the predetermined loading station, unloading station and walking path simulation, and obtain a specific simulation time. Then, we build AGV simulation model, import data, define procedures and run the simulation process. By running the model repeatedly, we obtained the cost time and utilization rate of AGVs in each group in the process, and compared the simulation time to obtain the appropriate number of AGVs. The machine utilization results verified our simulated AGV configuration. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper introduces our dedicated authenticated encryption scheme ICEPOLE. ICEPOLE is a high-speed hardware-oriented scheme, suitable for high-throughput network nodes or generally any environment where specialized hardware (such as FPGAs or ASICs) can be used to provide high data processing rates. ICEPOLE-128 (the primary ICEPOLE variant) is very fast. On the modern FPGA device Virtex 6, a basic iterative architecture of ICEPOLE reaches 41 Gbits/s, which is over 10 times faster than the equivalent implementation of AES-128-GCM. The throughput-to-area ratio is also substantially better when compared to AES-128-GCM. We have carefully examined the security of the algorithm through a range of cryptanalytic techniques and our findings indicate that ICEPOLE offers high security level. © International Association for Cryptologic Research 2014.

In this study, the effectiveness of selecting a suitable analysis frequency range in impact force identification is highlighted. A methodology that utilizesOperating Deflection Shape (ODS) analysis, Modal Analysis (MA) and Modal Transformation Method (MTM) to evaluate the dynamic force in three cases of analysis frequency ranges was presented. These three cases are the overestimated, even-estimated, and under-estimated cases, which consist of higher, similar andlower analysis frequency range respectively, compared to the actual excitation frequency range. The performance of this approach was demonstrated via experiment. A Perspex plate with four ground supports was used as the automobile test rig. By measuring the acceleration response and Frequency Response Function (FRF) of the test rig, the time history of unknown force was recovered by the proposed method where the impact location was known in advance. It showed that the force identification result for even-estimated case falls within acceptable range while the force identification result for over-estimated and under-estimated cases isnot acceptable. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In this paper, we describe our analysis of a recently proposed electric vehicle charing protocol. The protocol builds on complicated cryptographic primitives such as commitment, zero-knowledge proofs, BBS+ signature and etc. Moreover, interesting properties such as secrecy, authentication, anonymity, and location privacy are claimed on this protocol. It thus presents a challenge for formal verification, as existing tools for security protocol analysis lack support for all the required features. In our analysis, we employ and combine the strength of two state-of-the-art symbolic verifiers, Tamarin and Prove if, to check all important properties of the protocol.

Slime mould Physarum polycephalum is a single cell that is visible by the unaided eye. When spanning sources of nutrients the slime mould builds a network of protoplasmic tubes which is sometimes considered to be optimal in terms of the minimization of metabolite transportation time and distance away from repellents. Previously we have shown that the slime mould is efficient in imitating the formation of man-made road networks in major countries, where major urban areas are sources of nutrients. We used a similar approach to grow slime mould on a three-dimensional template of the Moon to speculate on potential colonisation scenarios. The slime mould imitated the propagation of colonisation in an exploratory mode, i.e. without any definite targets. Additional transportation hubs/targets were added after the initial network was formed, to imitate the development of colonies in parallel with slime mould growth. We provide analyses of proximity graphs representing colonisation networks and support the findings with Physarum-inspired algorithms to inform supply chain design. We speculate on how living Physarum, or its incorporation into a polymer hybrid material, can be used as a wearable smart wetware based on laboratory experiments interacting with chemical components.

This paper presents an innovative algorithm for improvement of the walking robot dynamic stability, using the Desert Smarandache Theory (DSmT) and the neutrosophic logic set. Starting from the hybrid force-position control, by applying the Robot Neutrosophic Control (RNC) method we extend the fuzzy control for walking robot stability motion on uneven terrain and in unstructured environments. Results analysis through virtual experimentation for motion control of a mobile walking robot proves that the neutrosophic logic leads to performance improvement of real time control through robustness, adaptation to robot's environment, efficient control and fast and clear identification of robot states.

As one of the most practical protocols, Time-Triggered CAN protocol (TTCAN), which is time triggered to ensure the real-time capability required by embedded systems, has been widely used in the automotive electric system development. In this paper, we present a formal model of the TTCAN protocol using Timed Communicating Sequential Processes (Timed CSP). All the components in the protocol are abstracted as CSP processes, thus the basic transmission in TTCAN is converted into the communication between different CSP processes. Besides, an error handling model is also proposed to capture the exception in the protocol. Finally, we use model checker Process Analysis Toolkit (PAT) to verify whether we can achieve model caters for some properties, which are specified using Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) formulas. Based on the verification results, our TTCAN model turns out to match the specification.

In this paper, we investigate low-complexity user scheduling schemes for the downlink (DL) massive multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system, where an M-antenna (M is very large) base station (BS) serves K (K > 2) N-antenna (N > 1) users with linear transceivers. Establishing the theoretical foundation of our scheduling schemes, we first investigate the asymptotic sum-rates of this system with both singular value decomposition (SVD) and regularized zero-forcing (RZF) precoders. In particular, we assume that both M and N go to infinity with a bounded ratio to perform the theoretical derivations with random matrix theory (RMT). In addition, the influence of imperfect channel estimation is also considered. Interestingly, the analysis indicates the existence of an optimal number of served users K~* in terms of asymptotic sum-rate, which motivates our low complexity user scheduling schemes. Unlike the conventional schemes with complicated computations and instantaneous channel state information, our user scheduling schemes are based on semi-analytical solutions with only statistic CSI. Simulation results validate our theoretical derivations and show the advantages of our schemes in the massive MU-MIMO system.

Prior claims that color categories affect color perception are confounded by inequalities in the color space used to equate same- and different-category colors. Here, we equate same- and different-category colors in the number of just-noticeable differences, and measure event-related potentials (ERPs) to these colors on a visual oddball task to establish if color categories affect perceptual or post-perceptual stages of processing. Category effects were found from 200 ms after color presentation, only in ERP components that reflect post-perceptual processes (e.g., N2, P3). The findings suggest that color categories affect post-perceptual processing, but do not affect the perceptual representation of color. © 2014 Optical Society of America.

The paper presents an innovative design for a wheeled hopping robot. Our main objective was to obtain a stable and efficient robot, which can jump over obstacles and has the ability to reach a certain ledge. The innovative design of our robot has the capability to jump to a certain distance even with a zero initial velocity provided by the wheels movement. Also, we took into consideration the wind speed which can prevent our robot to reach the desired destination, and compensated with an initial velocity on the direction of movement. For testing we designed a simulation which had as inputs different initial conditions to test and present the jumping capability of our robot in different jumping conditions. In the end we provide a jump area which the robot can reach for certain initial conditions, so we can later chose the optimal one for reaching the target position. © 2014 IEEE.
