In several cases, the spectral properties of objects change and depend on the viewing angle. Some example of this kind of samples can be found in the printing industry where special effect coatings are used to obtain some effects on the surface of the printed media. This effect can be an additional gloss and even an effect of a color change with the viewing angle (goniochromism). To be colorimetrically characterized these samples require multiangular reflectance measurements. In this paper we represent reflectance recovery results for these coated samples using regression models and RGB measurements from multiple camera capture angles. The estimations are performed using 3-dimensional and 9-dimensional RGB data. We evaluated the differences in estimation performance for the chosen three angles by using standard color and spectral metrics and compared the recovery with 3-dimensional and 9-dimensional RGB data.

Current methods to estimate the behaviour of composite structures are based on trial an error or oversimplification. Normally the nonlinearities in these structures are neglected and in orde to cover this inadequacy in design of composite structures, an overestimate safety factor is used These methods are often conservative and leading to the heavier structures. A novel techniqu employs Artificial Neural Network(ANN) as an inverse problem approach to estimate the pressur loads experienced by marine structures applied on a composite marine panel from the strai measurements. This can be used in real-time to provide an accurate load history for a marine structur without requiring knowledge of the material properties or component geometry. It is proposed tha the ANN methodology, with further research and development, could be utilised for th quantification of in-service, transient loads in real-time acting on the craft from the craft's structura response(strain response to load). However, to fully evaluate this methodology for load monitorin of marine structures further research and development is required such as sensor optimisation. Th number of sensors should be minimised to reduce the time to train the system, cost and weight. Thi study investigates the number of sensors required for accurate load estimation by optimising th method.

Considering the non-linearity, complexity and anisotropy of constitutive equations in composite materials, numerical methods are essential to evaluate the behaviour of this material. The finite element method(FEM) is a powerful computational technique for the solution of differential and integral equations that arise in various fields of engineering and applied science such as composite materials. Here, an FEM tool is designed to analyse non-linearity in the behaviour of composites caused by the effect of transverse shear and twist in laminated composite plates. The tool is established by using FEM for composites in ABAQUS combined with programming in Python to run the tests for all possible fibre orientations in laminated composite plates. It is shown that the tool has the ability to design laminated composite plates by considering the effect of transverse shear and the tool's output provides results for all different fibre orientations. It is demonstrated that there is good agreement between numerical results obtained from this tool and experimental results. The advantages of the tool give designers the opportunity to use this tool for wide range of products.
