Variational Bayesian Learning based Joint Localization and Channel Parameter Estimation in Wireless Sensor Networks with Distance-dependent Noise

This paper focuses on the challenge of jointly optimizing location and path loss exponent (PLE) in distancedependent noise. Departing from the conventional independent noise model used in localization and path loss exponent estimation problems, we consider a more realistic model incorporating distance-dependent noise variance, as revealed in recent theoretical analyses and experimental results. The distance-dependent noise introduces a complex noise model with unknown noise power and PLE, resulting in an exceptionally challenging nonconvex and nonlinear optimization problem. In this study, we address a joint localization and path loss exponent estimation problem encompassing distance-dependent noise, unknown parameters, and uncertainties in sensor node locations. To surmount the intractable nonlinear and non-convex objective function inherent in the problem, we introduce a variational Bayesian learning-based framework that enables the joint optimization of localization, path loss exponent, and reference noise parameters by leveraging an effective approximation to the true posterior distribution. Furthermore, the proposed joint learning algorithm provides an iterative closed-form solution and exhibits superior performance in terms of computational complexity compared to existing algorithms. computer simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm approaches the performance of the Bayesian Cramer-Rao bound (BCRB), achieves localization performance comparable to the (maximum likelihood-Gaussian message passing) ML-GMP algorithm in some cases, and outperforms the other comparison algorithm in all cases. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Future mobile and terrestrial communication systems B5G/6G are strongly expected to heterogeneously realize typically diversified performances, i.e. high-data-rate, high-mobility, low-latency, high-capacity, massive-connectivity and low-energy in order to satisfy the highly diversified application requirements. To achieve those goals the operation band of B5G/6G should be primarily in the millimeter-wave (mmW) range. Generation and distribution of mmW with traditional methods is limited by elec.ronic bottleneck and associated complexity. Consequently broad bandwidth, simple, efficient, and cost-effective photonic mmW-over-fiber (mmWoF) transmission systems are solutions for B5G/6G. The spectral purity of mmW carriers is necessary. Numerous approaches have been proposed to generate pure mmW signals. Compared with other technologies, quantum dash or dot (QD) coherent comb lasers (QD CCLs) have great advantages for mmW generation because QD-CCLs with low power consumption and chip-scale integration capacity with silicon can provide multiple highly correlated and low noise optical channels. In this paper we will present our developed InAs/InP QD-CCLs around 1550 nm with the channel spacing from 10 GHz to 1000 GHz and the output power up to 50 mW. By using a C-band QD CCL and based on the single- and dual-optical carrier modulation schemes, an up to 16-Gb/s mmWoF optical heterodyne wireless signal at 28 GHz through a 25-km single mode fiber before the mmW carrier is optically synthesized remotely for detection over a 2-m free space. The data capacity and performance of the proposed mmWoF link can be significantly increased by utilizing a duplex mmWoF link with MIMO and WDM technique, which provides a cost-efficient and promising solution for Terabit/s capacity mmWoF fronthaul systems of B5G/6G networks. © 2024 SPIE.

Accurately detecting passenger traffic flow in public transportation, e.g., for the purpose of identifying congested stations, and detecting anomalies in that flow, are both important for enhancing passenger satisfaction and safety. However, current methods for traffic flow detection and prediction train their models in offline modes using potentially outdated data, which can't be refreshed with new data. In this paper, we introduce a two-step, continuously updating framework aimed at real-time prediction of anomalies within transportation networks, which we name Adaptive Time-Aware Anomaly Detection Approach (ATADA). Specifically, the first step filters out regular traffic patterns and balances the data set, while the second step employs a sequence-to-sequence attention model, a type of deep learning model, to further detect the traffic anomalies. We propose a dynamic online time-aware learning mechanism which enables our models to continuously train on incoming data and to adapt predictive strategies based on the most recent traffic patterns. The proposed method is validated using real subway AFC data from Suzhou, China and Hangzhou, China. Experimental results demonstrate that our framework significantly improves efficiency while maintaining high accuracy in real-time traffic anomaly detection. © 2023 IEEE.

In the unsourced random access (U-RA), only a portion of users in a large number of users are active during the same time slot. Each user employs the same codebook, and the task of the decoder is to recover a list of transmitted messages, regardless of the user's identity. A concatenated coding approach, referred to as a coded compressed sensing scheme, decreases the computational complexity. However, there is a limitation that the inner CS decoding only decodes the support of a sparse vector, which leads to each user at the same sub-slot must send a different message, and the maximum tolerable active user number is low. In this paper, we consider an inner CS decoding scheme that initially decodes the amplitudes of a sparse vector and quantifies them to determine the number of active users choosing the same columns. This eliminates the constraint of requiring each user to send different messages in the same sub-slot, thereby increasing the maximum tolerable number of active users. We also show the maximum tolerable active user number with various codelengths. Next, we improve the survival probabilities' upper and lower bounds of the outer tree encoder.

Marketing Intelligence (MI) is the process of collecting and applying information to formulate effective marketing strategies. Currently, the information on MI at XYZ University still does not fully describe the user's needs and it can be improved so that its use can be successfully used by end-users. The research question is what key success factors are needed to build marketing intelligence in higher education. The objective of this study is to ascertain the critical success factors of marketing intelligence needed by universities. This study uses a qualitative research method, namely SLR conducting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that involves a comprehensive analysis of marketing intelligence. This research produces several factors that determine the success of marketing intelligence, consisting of Technology;Strategic, Tactical, Operational;Small and Medium Enterprise (SM E)'s Performance;Predictors and Consequences;Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty;Environment;Concept, Overview;Sales Forces;External Intelligence;Internal Information;Talent Management;Individual Sources;Information Sources;Personal Factors;and Organizational. The impact of this research is that universities that aim to develop and implement marketing intelligence can pay attention to technology, personal factors, and strategic/tactical/operational variables which are the 3 critical variables for building marketing intelligence. © 2023 IEEE.

Previously published results demonstrated that a sequential combination of adaptive linear prediction configuration (LPC), adaptive noise cancellation (ANC), and adaptive comb filtering (CF) can effectively remove maternal interference from noninvasive fetal ECGs. More recent research results have verified that the bio-inspired Lévy Flight Firefly Algorithm (LFFA) can be effectively applied to many different forms of linear and non-linear adaptive filter structures, including low sensitivity IIR adaptive structures that could not be used with steepest descent adaptive algorithms due to their adaptive multimodal characteristics. This paper presents results when using the LFFA algorithm in various stages of the FECG sequential combination processing. © 2024 IEEE.

User identification (UI) and channel estimation (CE) are essential in wireless networks with numerous users. Signature-code-based UI and CE schemes are widely used owing to their high spectral efficiency. Traditional signature code uses a discrete sensing matrix as a dictionary to generate codewords. Subsequently, the sparse vector recovery algorithm is used to recover the user state and channel state information in the received signal to complete the UI and CE. In this study, we propose an end-to-end machine-learning-aided signature code scheme under a multiple-access Rayleigh fading channel called machine-learning signature code (ML-SC). The ML-SC consists of a binarized-neural-networks-based (BNNs-based) trainable encoder and a trainable-iterative-soft-threshold-algorithm-based (TISTA-based) trainable decoder. To improve the accuracy, the dictionary is optimized by minimizing the mean squared error between the original and recovered information. Our proposed scheme achieved better performance and efficiency than the conventional schemes in the simulation. Moreover, it was confirmed that the dictionary generated by the ML-SC is suitable for various conventional decoders. Finally, by analyzing the results of the simulations, we found that ML-SC improves the restricted isometric constants and coherence of the dictionary.

This paper presents an airborne traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) testing stimulus generation module based on the zero intermediate frequency (ZIF) transceiver architecture. Data correction algorithms and intrusion signal simulation techniques are discussed. According to the requirement of TCAS scenario simulations, Multiple intrusion signals with horizontal and vertical dynamic characteristics can be generated. Compared with classic signal simulation solutions, the proposed module has the advantages of high integration, high reusability and low cost, and can meet the requirement of internal field testing of airborne TCAS devices, which has a broad application prospect. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a self-calibration based high resolution frequency measurement method. Based on the analog interpolation technique of time-to-amplitude conversion, the measurement of two ways standard time interval is added to reduce the error introduced by temperature change and voltage drift. The measurement data are processed using the least square method to diminish random errors. Test results show that the frequency measurement resolution reaches 12 bits/s and the measurement accuracy is better than ±0.02ppm. Compared with classic measurement techniques, the proposed approach has a broad application prospect as it improves frequency measurement resolution and measurement accuracy with lower cost and convenient calibration. © 2023 IEEE.

It is well-known that the Lévy Flight Firefly Algorithm (LFFA) can be effectively applied to IIR adaptive filters designed with conventional second order structures, coupled form structures, and adaptive lattice-ladder structures. Adaptive Fault Tolerant (AFT) digital filters take advantage of non-canonical architectures that use the inherent adaptive process as an automatic fault recovery mechanism. Since the LFFA is based on particle swarm optimization, the swarm provides many additional adaptive parameters. This paper presents results to confirm that the LFFA provides inherent adaptive fault tolerant capabilities which is very important when the LFFA algorithm is applied in adaptive digital filtering applications. © 2023 IEEE.
