Most existing hair capturing methods reconstruct 3D hair models from multi-view stereo based on complex capturing systems composed of many digital cameras and light sources. In this paper, we introduce a novel hair capturing system using consumer RGB-D (Kinect sensors). Our capture system, consisting of three Kinect v2 sensors, is much simpler than previous hair capturing systems. We directly use the 3D point clouds captured by Kinect v2 sensors as the hair volume. Then we adopt a fast and robust image enhancement algorithm to adaptively improve the clarity of the hair strands geometry based on the estimated local strands orientation and frequency from the hair images captured by the Kinect colour sensors. In addition, we introduced a hair strand grow-and-connect algorithm to generate relatively complete hair strands. Furthermore, by projecting the 2D hair strands onto the 3D point clouds, we can obtain the corresponding 3D hair strands. The experimental results indicate that our method can generate plausible 3D models for long, relatively straight hair. Copyright © 2015 SCITEPRESS - science and Technology Publications. In this work we present, for the first time, the evolution of ART Neural Network architectures (classifiers) using a multiobjective optimization approach. In particular, we propose the use of a multiobjective evolutionary approach to evolve simultaneously the weights, as well as the topology of three well-known ART architectures;Fuzzy ARTMAP (FAM), Ellipsoidal ARTMAP (EAM) and Gaussian ARTMAP (GAM). We refer to the resulting architectures as MO-GFAM, MO-GEAM, or MO-GGAM, and collectively as MO-GART. The major advantage of MO-GART is that it produces a number of solutions for the classification problem at hand that have different levels of merit (accuracy on unseen data (generalization) and size (number of categories created)). MO-GART is shown to be more elegant (does not require user intervention to define the network parameters), more effective (of better accuracy and smaller size), and more efficient (faster to produce the solution networks) than other ART neural network architectures that have appeared in the literature.

Surface representations are utilized in a multitude of applications such as computer vision, medical imaging and computer graphics. B-spline surfaces have a number of desirable properties for representing surfaces, however, the complexity of knot placement strategies has prevented their widespread use in high-level vision environments. A solution to this problem is formulated within the reversible jump Markov chain Monte Carlo framework, whereby a derived posterior distribution may be sampled to calculate expected values for the number of knots required, their expected positions and a maximum likelihood estimate for the resulting control net of a given surface. Recognition of individual models may then be achieved using a hash table constructed using the principal components of the model control nets. Results of the fitting procedure, in terms of estimated knot vectors and spline surface errors, and the recognition of objects are provided for a set of free-form objects. © 2004 World Scientific Publishing Company.

This paper studies the problem of optimal network topology reconfiguration in sensor networks for state estimation. Multiple sensors make observations of a process, which are then transmitted, possibly via intermediate sensors, to a central gateway. Transmission over each link can experience packet drops. The time-varying wireless network environment is modelled by the notion of a network state as in Quevedo et al. (2013a). For each network state, different network configurations can be used, which govern the network topology and routing of packets. Switching between different configurations incurs a cost, in that unwanted links will need to be removed before the establishment of new links, leading to a transient time in which some links may not be available. The problem is to determine the optimal network configurations to use in each network state, in order to minimize an expected error covariance measure that takes into account the cost of reconfiguration. A simpler suboptimal method which minimizes the upper bound of the expected error is also proposed, which in numerical simulations gives essentially identical results to the optimal method. © IFAC.

It is less likely to construct an exact mathematical mode as actual industrial processes are featured with non-linearity and uncertainty, which further causes the conventional PID controller to fail to achieve an ideal control effect. In this paper, a PID controller parameter optimization method was presented based on nested membrane algorithm. It focused on comparative studies on PID controller parameter optimization of BP neural network. In addition, an objective of optimization was realized through experimental simulation. The relevant experimental results indicated that such an algorithm not only improves stability of PID control system, but enhances characteristics of it, such as convergence and fast response, etc.

In this paper, we present a variance minimization (VM) procedure for rare event simulation in tandem queueing networks. We prove that the VM method can produce a zero variance. The VM method is suitable to compute optimal importance sampling (IS) parameters for small scale tandem networks. For large scale tandem networks we propose a sub-optimal IS (SOIS) method, which projects the optimal biased transition probabilities of the corresponding small scale system into those of a large scale system. In other words, we establish an efficient IS method for a large scale system by zooming into a small scale system and then projecting our findings into the large scale system. The numerical results show that our SOIS method can produce accurate results with very short CPU time, while many other methods often require much longer.

Code review is an important way to improve software quality and ensure project security. Pull Request (PR), as an important method of collaborative code modification in GitHub open source software community platform, is very important to find a suitable code reviewer to improve code modification efficiency for Pull Request submitted by code modifiers. In order to solve this problem, we have proposed a review recommendation algorithm based on Pull Request topic model and reviewer's influence. This algorithm has not only extracted the topic information of PR through Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) method, but also analyzed the professional knowledge influence of reviewers through influence network. What's more, it has combined the topic information of reviewers to find the appropriate PR reviewers. The experimental results based on GitHub show that the algorithm is more efficient, which can effectively reduce the time of code review and improve the recommendation accuracy.
