The 2010 Pacific-Rim Conference on Multimedia (PCM 2010) was held in Shanghai at Fudan University, during September 21–24, 2010. Since its inauguration in 2000, PCM has been held in various places around the Pacific Rim, namely Sydney (PCM 2000), Beijing (PCM 2001), Hsinchu (PCM 2002), Singapore (PCM 2003), Tokyo (PCM 2004), Jeju (PCM 2005), Zhejiang (PCM 2006), Hong Kong (PCM 2007), Tainan (PCM 2008), and Bangkok (PCM 2009). PCM is a major annual international conference organized as a forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art technological advances and research results in the fields of theoretical, experimental, and applied multimedia analysis and processing. PCM 2010 featured a comprehensive technical program which included 75 oral and 56 poster presentations selected from 261 submissions from Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, Norway, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK, and the USA. Three distinguished researchers, Prof. Zhi-Hua Zhou from Nanjing University, Dr. Yong Rui from Microsoft, and Dr. Tie-Yan Liu from Microsoft Research Asia delivered three keynote talks to the conference. We are very grateful to the many people who helped to make this conference a s- cess. We would like to especially thank Hong Lu for local organization, Qi Zhang for handling the publication of the proceedings, and Cheng Jin for looking after the c- ference website and publicity. We thank Fei Wu for organizing the special session on large-scale multimedia search in the social network settings.

In the Internet of Things (IoT) era, the pervasive application of tremendous end devices puts forth an unprecedented demand for data processing. To address this challenge, the end-edge-cloud system has emerged as a solution, where task offloading plays a crucial role in efficiently allocating computing resources. Meanwhile, driven by the growing social awareness of privacy, privacy-aware task offloading methods have attracted significant attention. However, existing privacy-aware task offloading methods face various limitations, such as being applicable to specific scenarios, poor transfer ability of offloading strategies, etc. This paper studies the privacy-aware task offloading problem in the end-edge-cloud system and proposes PATO, a Privacy-Aware Task Offloading strategy. PATO consists of two core modules. Specifically, a novel self-supervised feature mapping module transforms sensitive information via complex unidirectional mapping. Subsequently, a DRL-based decision-making module is trained to utilize transformed information to make task offloading decisions. Subtly combining the self-supervised feature mapping module and the DRL-based decision-making module, the proposed PATO addresses both privacy protection and task offloading challenges. Furthermore, PATO is designed as a general solution for task offloading problems and exhibits good transfer ability.

th This volume is an edition of the papers selected from the 12 FIRA RoboWorld C- gress, held in Incheon, Korea, August 16–18, 2009. The Federation of International Robosoccer Association (FIRA – www. fira. net) is a non-profit organization, which organizes robotic competitions and meetings around the globe annually. The RoboSoccer competitions started in 1996 and FIRA was - tablished on June 5, 1997. The Robot Soccer competitions are aimed at promoting the spirit of science and technology to the younger generation. The congress is a forum in which to share ideas and future directions of technologies, and to enlarge the human networks in robotics area. The objectives of the FIRA Cup and Congress are to explore the technical dev- opment and achievement in the field of robotics, and provide participants with a robot festival including technical presentations, robot soccer competitions and exhibits - der the theme “Where Theory and Practice Meet. ” th Under the umbrella of the 12 FIRA RoboWorld Incheon Congress 2009, six int- national conferences were held for greater impact and scientific exchange: th • 6 International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Robotics and Autonomous systems (CIRAS) th • 5 International Symposium on Autonomous Minirobots for Research and Edutainment (AMiRE) • International Conference on Social Robotics (ICSR) • International Conference on Advanced Humanoid Robotics Research (ICAHRR) • International Conference on Entertainment Robotics (ICER) • International Robotics Education Forum (IREF) This volume consists of selected quality papers from the six conferences.

Body joint modeling and human pose reconstruction provide precise motion and quantitative geometric information about human dynamics. The rich motion information obtained from human pose estimation plays important roles in a wide range of digital twin and connected health applications. However, current related researches have difficulties in extracting the joints’ spatial-temporal correlations from different levels. This is due to the poses being at various complexities in moving various joints differently. Hence, the typical conventional transformer method is non-adaptable and barely meets the aforementioned requirement. In this paper, we propose the Body Joint Interactive transFormers (BJIFormer) to extract the multi-level joints’ spatial-temporal information. The design enables the model to learn the inner joints’ correlation inside the body parts across frames and propagate the extracted information across the body parts with shared joints. The multi-level body joint interactive scheme has greater efficiency improvement by restricting the self-attention computation to partial body parts and connecting each body part by torso. The proposed interactive approach explores the spatial-temporal correlation following the hierarchical paradigm and effectively estimates and reconstructs 3D human poses.
