In order to guarantee the frequency security and stability of the power system with high proportional of wind generation, virtual inertia control techniques are gradually being promoted and applied. However, there is still a lack of methods and techniques to accurately estimate the equivalent virtual inertia of wind farms in real time, which makes it difficult to quantitatively evaluate the effect of virtual inertia control and to dynamically monitor the inertia level of power systems. Therefore, in this paper, an AR model with eXogenous input is applied to the time-varying characteristics of the virtual inertia of wind farm, and a recursive least squares identification algorithm based on a fuzzy control algorithm with an adaptive forgetting factor is proposed to estimate the virtual inertia of wind farms online. The proposed identification model and solution algorithm have superior tracking ability and good convergence. All that is required is to obtain perturbation data on the frequency and active power of the point of common coupling from the phasor measurement unit. A case study is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2022 IEEE.

This study examines the mapping of research data on digital technology in the field of health education using bibliometric analysis method. Data was collected by identifying keywords in the Scopus database and sorting them out to sort the studies from the last 10 years (2012-2021). Through this step, a total of 1482 documents were obtained (articles, journals, proceedings, books, and others). The data is then processed using the VOSViewer instrument to obtain a visualization of the mapping analysis. This study also analyzes the network types of authors and co-authors through the VOSViewer instrument. The result of this study indicates that the most document types published within ten years are Articles (66.5%), Review (22.9%), Conference Paper (4.2%), and others. The most studied subjects are Medicine (55.7%), Nursing (9.0%), Health Professions (8.2%), Social Sciences (7.8%), engineering (3.9%), computer Science (2.6%), Environmental Science (2.6%), Biochemistry-Genetics and Molecular Biology (2.2%), Psychology (1.6%), and Dentistry (1.3%). This study offers a written communication process and the nature and direction of developing descriptive means of counting and analyzing the various phases of communication as well as recognizing the authorship and direction of its symptoms in documents on the subject of digital technology in the health sector. © 2022 IEEE.

Multi-Objective DER Planning Framework as a TEP Alternative: An Augmented Epsilon-Constraint Approach

Recently, the construction of new transmission lines has faced extreme challenges due to ever-increasing environmental concerns and construction costs. Investing in distributed energy resources (DERs) offers a viable alternative to reduce reliance on new transmission lines. This study introduces a multi-objective bi-level DER planning model as an alternative to transmission network reinforcement. The upper-level problem aims to minimize the total cost of DERs, mitigate the congestion cost of the transmission network, and improve the system reliability while ensuring the profitability of the DER investment. In the lower-level problem, the wholesale electricity market is cleared to determine the optimal locational marginal prices and the operational status of the bulk power system. A scenario-based approach is employed to account for uncertainties in future loads, renewable generation, and generator bid prices. The bi-level problem is reformulated as a single-level optimization using the strong duality condition, with non-linear terms linearized through the big-M method and complementary slackness conditions. The augmented epsilon-constraint method is then employed to solve the multi-objective optimization problem. Finally, the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed DER planning model are evaluated using the IEEE 24-bus test system, offering insights from both system operators and DER investors. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Urban air is frequently contaminated with CO, CO2, VOC, HCHO, PM 2.5, and PM 10. Rural regions are at a lower risk than those near roads and industrial areas that produce emissions. Air pollutants negatively affect its inhabitants' health, particularly the respiratory system. Most people will spend more time indoors, requiring a method for monitoring indoor air quality (IAQ). Urban communities need IAQ monitoring instruments as an early warning system for their health. This research seeks to produce inexpensive IAQ that can be utilized by all levels of society, particularly urban communities. This research utilizes a qualitative, design-thinking-based methodology. The research diverged from Empatize, which asserts that urban communities require a method for determining the local air quality. Moreover, it is determined at the define stage that IAQ monitoring, which includes a data log feature, is still comparatively expensive, so a solution is developed at the ideate stage. Creating a prototype is the next step in realizing the specified solution. In this investigation, they decided to use IAQ monitoring, which is relatively inexpensive but lacks log data storage. The author uses the ESP32-cam microcontroller to capture the screen display device, and the resulting image is sent to a telegram and processed with optical character recognition (OCR) to generate a data log. The results of prototype testing are utilized for prototype development. © 2023 IEEE.

The emerging virtual coupling technology aims to operate multiple train units in a Virtually Coupled Train Set(VCTS)at a minimal but safe *** guarantee collision avoidance,the safety distance should be calculated using the state-of-the-art space-time separation principle that separates the Emergency Braking(EB)trajectories of two successive units during the whole EB *** this case,the minimal safety distance is usually numerically calculated without an analytic ***,the constrained VCTS control problem is hard to address with space-time separation,which is still a gap in the existing *** solve this problem,we propose a Distributed Economic Model Predictive Control(DEMPC)approach with computation efficiency and theoretical ***,to alleviate the computation burden,we transform implicit safety constraints into explicitly linear ones,such that the optimal control problem in DEMPC is a quadratic programming problem that can be solved *** theoretical analysis,sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the recursive feasibility and stability of DEMPC,employing compatibility constraints,tube techniques and terminal ingredient ***,we extend our approach with globally optimal and distributed online EB configuration methods to shorten the minimal distance among ***,experimental results demonstrate the performance and advantages of the proposed approaches.

Enhanced fringe-to-phase framework using deep learning

In Fringe Projection Profilometry (FPP), achieving robust and accurate 3D reconstruction with a limited number of fringe patterns remains a challenge in structured light 3D imaging. Conventional methods require a set of fringe images, but using only one or two patterns complicates phase recovery and unwrapping. In this study, we introduce SFNet, a symmetric fusion network that transforms two fringe images into an absolute phase. To enhance output reliability, Our framework predicts refined phases by incorporating information from fringe images of a different frequency than those used as input. This allows us to achieve high accuracy with just two images. Comparative experiments and ablation studies validate the effectiveness of our proposed method. In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the coverage hole problem is one of the challenging problems that needs an effective solution. Data routing protocols in WSNs aim to disseminate the sensors’ data to the central device with the minimum possible network resource usage. However, suppose there is a coverage hole in the middle of the source and destination nodes, and the source node doesn’t have information about the hole. In that case, the data may choose the longer and more repetitive path to reach the destination, increasing resource usage, mainly energy and time. The condition is even more challenging when the network employs a mobile data collector. This paper proposes a Coverage Hole Aware Data Routing (CHADR) protocol for Mobile Sink WSNs that determines the shorter hole bypassing path in advance at the source node using the hole and data collector location information. CHADR evaluates the path efficiency using directional angle and expected hops count. After determining the path, data will be transmitted to the mobile sink using an Opportunistic routing technique. We proved CHADR performance with experimental simulations.

Technologies are currently being used in smart farms to improve productivity. Agricultural innovation is also widespread. Therefore, the development of Internet of Things (IoTs) technologies and devices to collect data is important. Finding essential nutrients for growth such as Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) are important factors. Competitiveness is the important key for growing vertically or indoors. However, soil testing can be expensive, complicated and time consuming. The development of devices that can effectively measure nutrient NPK levels could be used over time. This paper presents a suitable clustering using the K-means method and a forecasting method using the Self-Organizing Map (SOM) method to enhance the device's ability to analyze nutrients in real time. A total of 50,688 samples were tested using the K-Means clustering algorithm, and the sample data were also analyzed. A SOM was prepared to predict the accuracy of the analysis. A total of 11,486 samples were tested and analyzed, then the results of the soluble NPK nutrient monitoring system were taken. It has an efficiency of 84.15% compared to using a UV Visible spectrophotometer, allowing data to be predicted during nutrient solubility changes and to operate according to the proposed system. Therefore, the unsupervised machine learning will improve the measurement system of future cultivation systems.

Fruit harvesting poses a significant labor and financial burden on the fruit industry, which underscore the urgent need for advancements in robotic harvesting solutions. Despite considerable progress in leveraging deep learning and machine learning techniques for fruit detection, a common shortfall is the inability to swiftly extend the developed models across different orchards and/or various fruit species. Additionally, the limited availability of pertinent data further compounds these challenges. In this work, we introduce MetaFruit, the largest publicly available multi-class fruit dataset, comprising 4,248 images and 248,015 manually labeled instances across diverse U.S. orchards. Furthermore, this study proposes an innovative open-set fruit detection system leveraging advanced Vision Foundation Models (VFMs) for fruit detection that can adeptly identify a wide array of fruit types under varying orchard conditions. This system not only demonstrates remarkable adaptability in learning from minimal data through few-shot learning but also shows the ability to interpret human instructions for subtle detection tasks. The performance of the developed foundation model is comprehensively evaluated across several metrics, outperforming existing state-of-the-art algorithms in our MetaFruit, thereby setting a new benchmark in the field of agricultural technology and robotic harvesting. The MetaFruit dataset (https://***/datasets/jiajiali/metafruit) and detection framework (https://***/JiajiaLi04/FMFruit) are open-sourced to foster future research in vision-based fruit harvesting, marking a significant stride toward addressing the urgent needs of the agricultural sector. © 2024 ASABE Annual International Meeting.
