Multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) has become a fundamental component of next-generation wireless communication systems. Theoretically, although MARL has the advantages of low computational complexity and fast convergence rate, there exist several challenges including partial observability, non-stationary, and scalability. In this article, we investigate a novel MARL with graph neural network-aided communication (GNNComm-MARL) to address the aforementioned challenges by making use of graph attention networks to effectively sample neighborhoods and selectively aggregate messages. Furthermore, we thoroughly study the architecture of GNNComm-MARL and present a systematic design solution. We then present the typical applications of GNNComm-MARL from two aspects: resource allocation and mobility management. The results obtained unveil that GNNComm-MARL can achieve better performance with lower communication overhead compared to conventional communication schemes. Finally, several important research directions regarding GNNComm-MARL are presented to facilitate further investigation. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The latest approach in cyber threat intelligence (CTI) is becoming increasingly crucial in detecting evolving cyber threats, including malware on Android devices. This problem is getting deeper when the number of Android users in Indonesia is increasing compared to other platforms. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new method that integrates the CTI framework with the use of machine learning to improve the accuracy and speed in detecting Android malware. By utilizing intelligence data from structured threat reports, this method aims to identify suspicious patterns and abnormal behavior that may not be detected by conventional security systems so that with this updated security system it is proactive towards the development of new types of malware threats, with the hope of being able to make a significant contribution to strengthening especially mobile devices with the Android platform and being able to provide more effective solutions in reducing the risk of malware attacks on Android. © 2024 IEEE.

AdvSwap: Covert Adversarial Perturbation with High Frequency Info-swapping for Autonomous Driving Perception

Perception module of Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are increasingly susceptible to be attacked, which exploit vulnerabilities in neural networks through adversarial inputs, thereby compromising the AI safety. Some researches focus on creating covert adversarial samples, but existing global noise techniques are detectable and difficult to deceive the human visual system. This paper introduces a novel adversarial attack method, AdvSwap, which creatively utilizes wavelet-based high-frequency information swapping to generate covert adversarial samples and fool the camera. AdvSwap employs invertible neural network for selective high-frequency information swapping, preserving both forward propagation and data integrity. The scheme effectively removes the original label data and incorporates the guidance image data, producing concealed and robust adversarial samples. Experimental evaluations and comparisons on the GTSRB and nuScenes datasets demonstrate that AdvSwap can make concealed attacks on common traffic targets. The generates adversarial samples are also difficult to perceive by humans and algorithms. Meanwhile, the method has strong attacking robustness and attacking transferability. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) optical technology allows transmission of many wavelengths in a single optical channel. In this paper, system modelling and numerical simulations are demonstrated for high-capacity data transmission using an Optical Frequency Comb (OFC). An OFC is generated using fiber loop modulation technique and simulations are carried out using commercially available simulation software –Optisystem. An OFC with excellent flatness is obtained, which is essential for noise and error reduction. Each comb line is modulated with data and the DWDM multiplexed signal is transmitted over a free-space optical (FSO) channel. The system performance is assessed in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and range of the FSO channel. Our experimental results demonstrate that our system aligns well with simulation and can generate an OFC confirming the potential of our approach for applications such as optical communication networks.

Distributed Safe Resource Allocation using Barrier Functions

Resource allocation plays a central role in many networked systems such as smart grids, communication networks and urban transportation systems. In these systems, many constraints have physical meaning and having feasible allocation is often vital to avoid system breakdown. Hence, algorithms with asymptotic feasibility guarantees are often insufficient since it is impractical to run algorithms for an infinite number of rounds. This paper proposes a distributed feasible method (DFM) for safe resource allocation based on barrier functions. In DFM, every iterate is feasible and thus safe to implement. We prove that under mild conditions, DFM converges to an arbitrarily small neighbourhood of the optimal solution. Numerical experiments demonstrate the competitive performance of DFM. © 2022, CC BY.

With the rapid increment of multiple users for data offloading and computation, it is challenging to guarantee the quality of service (QoS) in remote areas. To deal with the challenge, it is promising to combine aerial access networks (AANs) with multi-access edge computing (MEC) equipments to provide computation services with high QoS. However, as for uncertain data sizes of tasks, it is intractable to optimize the offloading decisions and the aerial resources. Hence, in this paper, we consider the AAN to provide MEC services for uncertain tasks. Specifically, we construct the uncertainty sets based on historical data to characterize the possible probability distribution of the uncertain tasks. Then, based on the constructed uncertainty sets, we formulate a distributionally robust optimization problem to minimize the system delay. Next, we relax the problem and reformulate it into a linear programming problem. Accordingly, we design a MEC-based distributionally robust latency optimization algorithm. Finally, simulation results reveal that the proposed algorithm achieves a superior balance between reducing system latency and minimizing energy consumption, as compared to other benchmark mechanisms in the existing literature. © 2024 IEEE.

HeadSonic: Usable Bone Conduction Earphone Authentication via Head-conducted Sounds

Earables (ear wearables) are rapidly emerging as a new platform encompassing a diverse of personal applications, prompting the development of authentication schemes to protect user privacy. Existing earable authentication methods are all specifically designed for air-conduction earphones, which are not suited for bone conduction earphones (BCEs) that rely on bone conduction mechanisms. In this paper, we propose HeadSonic, a usable BCE authentication system based on the unique head-conducted sounds, which can be acquired when the user wears the BCE device. Specifically, the system emits a millisecond-level sound to initiate the authentication session. The signal captured by the BCE microphone is propagated through the user’s head, which is unique in density, geometry, and bone-tissue ratio. It operates implicitly, while maintaining robustness across different behaviors. Extensive experiments involving 60 subjects demonstrate that HeadSonic achieves a commendable balanced accuracy of 96.59%, proving its efficacy and resilience against replay and synthesis attacks. With the rapid development of the Internet of Things, multi-access edge computing (MEC) has emerged as a key technique and intelligent edge resource allocation has become one of the important research issues in MEC. In this paper, we utilize advantages of matching game to integrate users’ needs and the position of edge computing nodes in IoT networks. The proposed GS-based two-sided matching approach simulates the competition and negotiation relationship between different user sets in IoT edge nodes, and provides feasible options based on the preference between different entities.
