Immersive learning has gained significant attention with the rising trend of spatial computing, particularly in the after-pandemic era. Numerous research has explored the potential of immersive learning in higher education, primarily on the educational sector. However, prior research has frequently focused too narrowly on the effects of technology and neglected to address the crucial element influencing successful immersive learning in higher education. This study seeks to pinpoint the crucial element contributing to the development of immersive learning experiences. The methodology uses a systematic literature review (SLR) from 2018 up to 2023 to investigate the critical factors of immersive Learning in Higher Education. From the 728 papers initially retrieved, 274 were considered potential candidates, and ultimately, 86 articles were selected based on their relevance to the research question. The results reveal that the critical factors include learning design, technology, immersion, engagement, interactivity, and usability. Academic interests will benefit from this SLR's consequences as institutions create models for designing suitable immersive learning, especially within the context of higher education. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper investigates the operational strategy for real-time optimal active power control of large-scale wind-PV-battery hybrid system. The MPC strategy is established with objective, forecast models and constraints for active power control of wind-PV-battery hybrid system, which simultaneously maximizes tracking accuracy and minimizes settling time. To guarantee the industrial reliability, the corresponding optimization solver and control architecture have been specifically developed and designed. Hardware-in-loop (HIL) experiments are conducted using the real-time digital simulator (RTDS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Under different operating scenarios, HIL-RTDS testing results demonstrate that the MPC strategy significantly improves the tracking speed and accuracy compared to the conventional strategy in both normal and abnormal operating scenarios, which also sustain the feasibility of industrial implementation. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Yaw misalignment is common in the yaw system control of wind turbines, resulting in reduced power generation efficiency and increased load. The advantage of LiDAR is that the accuracy of wind measurement is greatly improved, while its disadvantage is that the cost remains high. In this paper, an efficient machine learning method for estimating LiDAR measurement, XGBoost, is used to establish the data-driven wind turbine yaw misalignment compensation framework. To choose a suitable algorithm, four machine learning algorithms are studied, namely Linear Regression, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting and XGBoost. Moreover, to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, a 2MW WT was taken as the research object for filed testing, and the power generation was quantitatively evaluated under the three strategies of wind vane control, LiDAR control and ML algorithm control. The results show that the proposed yaw misalignment compensation method is feasible for field application. In this way, the yaw-to-wind error can be mitigated even after the LiDAR is removed. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Perception module of Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are increasingly susceptible to be attacked, which exploit vulnerabilities in neural networks through adversarial inputs, thereby compromising the AI safety. Some researches focus on creating covert adversarial samples, but existing global noise techniques are detectable and difficult to deceive the human visual system. This paper introduces a novel adversarial attack method, AdvSwap, which creatively utilizes wavelet-based highfrequency information swapping to generate covert adversarial samples and fool the camera. AdvSwap employs invertible neural network for selective high-frequency information swapping, preserving both forward propagation and data integrity. The scheme effectively removes the original label data and incorporates the guidance image data, producing concealed and robust adversarial samples. Experimental evaluations and comparisons on the GTSRB and nuScenes datasets demonstrate that AdvSwap can make concealed attacks on common traffic targets. The generates adversarial samples are also difficult to perceive by humans and algorithms. Meanwhile, the method has strong attacking robustness and attacking transferability. © 2024 IEEE.

Regularized system identification has become the research frontier of system identification in the past *** related core subject is to study the convergence properties of various hyper-parameter estimators as the sample size goes to *** this paper,we consider one commonly used hyper-parameter estimator,the empirical Bayes(EB).Its convergence in distribution has been studied,and the explicit expression of the covariance matrix of its limiting distribution has been ***,what we are truly interested in are factors contained in the covariance matrix of the EB hyper-parameter estimator,and then,the convergence of its covariance matrix to that of its limiting distribution is *** general,the convergence in distribution of a sequence of random variables does not necessarily guarantee the convergence of its covariance ***,the derivation of such convergence is a necessary complement to our theoretical analysis about factors that influence the convergence properties of the EB hyper-parameter *** this paper,we consider the regularized finite impulse response(FIR)model estimation with deterministic inputs,and show that the covariance matrix of the EB hyper-parameter estimator converges to that of its limiting ***,we run numerical simulations to demonstrate the efficacy of ourtheoretical results.

Globally, biomass usage as a supply of non-depletable resources materials used in the production of energy at their rawest state is an issue. Pyrolysis is a method of thermally treating biomass that as a consequence in the formation of liquid, products, both solid and gaseous. Elevated heating is required to transform the complicated composition of the biomass's underlying structure matrix into usable products. Heating with a microwave oven has the potential to become a competitive option. to more traditional methods of heating. Owing to its ease of operation and rapid heating rate, it has recently been widely employed in pyrolysis. The goals of this research are to found the principles of MW-assisted pyrolysis action and to examine some critical issues characteristics of operation that have an influence on the yield of a product. This procedure appears to be governed by a number of operational factors for instance, microwave power and temperature degree, the addition of microwave absorbers and their concentration, initial relative humidity, primary sweep gas flow rate/time spent in residence. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

EEG based stress classification by using difference plots of variational modes and machine learning

The recent trend in healthcare is to use the automated biomedical signals processing for an augmented and precise diagnosis. In this context, an original approach is presented for categorization of stress and non-stress classes by processing the multichannel Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. The EEG signals are decomposed by using the "Empirical Mode Decomposition" (EMD) and "Variational Mode Decomposition" (VMD), respectively render the "Intrinsic Mode Functions" (IMFs) and Modes. The Second Order Difference Plots (SODPs) are traced for each IMF and Mode. Shapes of SODPs are used to discriminate the two intended categories. The feature space includes areas, Central Tendency Measures (CTMs) and means of SODPs. It is derived from first 7 IMFs and Modes. The identification of stress and non-stress categories is performed by using the robust machine learning algorithms namely, the Support Vector Machine (SVM), Boosting with Random Forest (RF) and Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network (MLPNN). The applicability is tested by using a publicly available EEG signals dataset, recorded during mental arithmetic test. A detailed evaluation is carried out at the subset, individual channel and lobes wise. Noteworthy highest accuracies of subset wise 99.89%, channel wise 98.89% and lobe wise 99.99% are obtained respectively. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Split learning (SL) has emerged as a promising approach for model training without revealing the raw data samples from the data owners. However, traditional SL inevitably leaks label privacy as the tail model (with the last layers) should be placed on the server. To overcome this limitation, one promising solution is to utilize U-shaped architecture to leave both early layers and last layers on the user side. In this paper, we develop a novel parallel U-shaped split learning and devise the optimal resource optimization scheme to improve the performance of edge networks. In the proposed framework, multiple users communicate with an edge server for SL. We analyze the end-to-end delay of each client during the training process and design an efficient resource allocation algorithm, called LSCRA, which finds the optimal computing resource allocation and split layers. Our experimental results show the effectiveness of LSCRA and that U-shaped parallel split learning can achieve a similar performance with other SL baselines while preserving label privacy. © 2023 IEEE.

Asset management is a critical area of machine management and maintenance, especially in areas where the cost of asset failure is extremely high and sometimes dangerous. This work explores the use of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) in identifying a mover in independent cart system (ICT) technology, irrespective of the identification assigned to the mover at power up time, and also identify the mover that is having degraded performance, in real-time. With the training data that mimics degraded characteristics of a mover, possibly also predict the cause of degradation of performance/failure, and a time window in which corrective action would be needed on the mover.
