This paper proposes an inverter offline self-commissioning method for the stator resistance identification of induction motor (IM) drive system. Different types of DC current are injected to eliminate the inverter nonlinearity error and detect the stator resistances. In comparison to the conventional method of using numerical analysis tools, the studied method shows superiority both in accuracy and simplicity. The experimental results on a commercial IM drive system verify the effectiveness of studied method. © 2024 IEEE.

Switched reluctance motors (SRMs) have simple and robust structure, which is attractive for electric vehicles' (EVs) application. However, the torque densities of SRMs are much lower than those of permanent-magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). A solution to obtain a comparable level of the power density with PMSMs is to run the SRMs to higher speeds. In this case, the core losses and the copper AC losses will be significantly high. In this paper, amorphous alloy is proposed to reduce the core losses. To increase the slot copper filling factor and the heat dissipation ability of the stator winding, the flat wire is used and a racetrack-type winding is proposed. The new winding configuration can reduce the eddy current losses to some extent. Meanwhile, the manufacturing and installation of the winding are simplified. To evaluate the benefits by using the amorphous alloy and the new winding, a SRM demonstrator of 30,000 r/min and 25 kW is designed. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates resilient consensus control for teleoperation systems under denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. We design resilient controllers with auxiliary systems based on sampled positions of both master and slave robots, enhancing robustness during DoS attacks. Additionally, we establish stability conditions on DoS attack duration and frequency by applying multivariate small-gain methods to ensure closed-loop stability without the need to solve linear matrix inequalities. Finally, the effectiveness of the controllers is validated through the simulation results, demonstrating that the master-slave synchronization is achieved. © The Author(s) 2025.

In light of the significant rise in the percentage of photovoltaic in the grid, which contributes to system uncertainty, this study presents an optimal operation model for integrated energy system (IES) in cold regions. The objective function in the model contains three components: day-ahead operation cost, real-time operation cost, and the product of risk attitude level and risk cost. The model employs conditional value-at-risk to compute the risk cost, considering both the risk attitude level and risk cost during the operation of the IES as crucial factors influencing the scheduling decision. Through the calculation of scheduling and risk cost for systems with varying risk attitude levels, it is found that considering risk cost results in a reduction of 6016.85 RMB compared to not considering it. This suggests that the consideration of risk cost significantly impacts the decision-making process of the IES. Additionally, it is observed that as the risk attitude level increases from 1 to 5, the operating cost increases by 5560.19 RMB and the risk cost decreases by 2610.36 RMB. The study illustrates that the risk attitude level significantly affects the operational planning of the system and serves as a guiding factor for the operation of the IES. © 2024 IEEE.

Surface-mounted Permanent magnet synchro-nous motors (SPMSMs) are widely used in high-precision, high-dynamic response control systems. However, the drive system's current sampling induced periodic speed fluctuation has drawn widespread attention. Therefore, this article incorporates a quasi-resonant controller (QRC) into dead-beat predictive direct speed control (DP-DSC) to suppress periodic speed fluctuations. The proposed method aims to introduce resonance points to suppress periodic speed fluc-tuations and analyze the stability of the control system and parameter tuning methods from the perspective of discrete transfer functions. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been verified through simulation. © 2024 The institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

Hybrid relays can effectively suppress arcing and enhance the electrical life and reliability of relays. However, existing hybrid relays require multiple commutations during the turn-off process, leaving room for improvement in turn-off speed. This paper proposes an improved topology, introducing a new fast DC hybrid relay that enhances switching speed by combining zero voltage switching (ZVS) and zero current switching (ZCS) technologies to achieve arc suppression. A transient model of the hybrid relay is established, and the key switching transient process is analyzed. A 28V/40A experimental prototype is built to verify the performance of the proposed circuit topology. Experimental results demonstrate that by simplifying the commutation process, the turn-off time of the hybrid relay is reduced to 17.4 μs . Additionally, the hybrid relay exhibits a minimum arc energy of 0.09 percent of that of the electromagnetic relay during the switching process. The arc suppression effect of the hybrid relay becomes more pronounced as the load current increases. The circuit topology proposed in this paper is universal and can be applied to hybrid switches of different voltage levels. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2024.

Traditional rotary motors may encounter some problems when applied to large-diameter equipment due to the drawbacks of traditional transmission. The arc permanent magnet torque motor (APMTM) using stator splicing technology can improve the accuracy, efficiency and reliability of the equipment when applied to direct drive systems. It can be significant for overcoming the shortcomings of traditional rotating motors and promoting production. APMTM has the problem of large torque ripple caused by end effect. A method is proposed to suppress end effect from the perspective of adjusting the stator center angle and the stator adjacent angles, which can be used to suppress the torque ripple of APMTM. The mathematical derivation method and finite element method are used to analyze and calculate the end force of the motor. The proposed method of APMTM end effect suppression suitable for any number of unit motors is obtained. It can significantly suppress torque ripple caused by end effect in APMTM. This method provides experience for the structure design of the APMTM for the suppression of torque ripple. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a continuous sliding mode control (CSMC) approach based on a super-twisting algorithm is proposed to improve the efficiency and safety of the lithium-ion battery charger. First, the charger model is established based on the Vienna rectifier and the three-phase interleaved buck converter. Differing from the traditional PI control, a composite control scheme by using the super-twisting algorithm is proposed for the three parts of the system. The sliding surface, the corresponding continuous control law, and the steady analysis are carried out to guarantee the effectiveness of the designed controller. Simulations validate this paper. © 2024 IEEE.

To investigate the energy acquisition issue of current transformers (CTs) for online power supply to high-voltage transmission lines, this paper employs finite element simulation to study the differences in energy acquisition between single and double air gap model CTs. The effects of varying air gap width, primary current magnitude, and load size on the energy acquisition of CTs under the double air gap model are examined. Ultimately, the optimal load points for maximum energy acquisition under different conditions are identified, and the qualitative impact of external conditions on the excitation reactance is analyzed. ©2024 IEEE.

The flexible VSC-HVDC transmission system with technical and economic feasibility is going mainstream in the long-distance transmission of offshore wind power along with its development. But the interaction between the control device and VSC-HVDC of the wind turbine generator might lead to oscillations at the frequency ranging from several Hz to over a thousand Hz. Moreover, there is an oscillation frequency coupling feature. This paper takes three-phase grid-connected inverter as the starting point to explain the new characteristics of the oscillation frequency coupling of the new power system, and then establishes the grid-connected model of the direct drive wind farm through the flexible VSC-HVDC transmission system, and analyzes its oscillation characteristics and influencing factors. Finally, the additional damping controller is designed with the speed as the reference, and the oscillation suppression effect is remarkable. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2024.
