Experimental observation of coherent-perfect-absorber and laser points in anti-PT symmetry

The coexistence of coherent perfect absorber and laser or amplifier (CPAL) point is a peculiar spectral singularity associated with the scattering matrices of non-Hermitian systems. While the potential of CPAL systems for sensing application has been highlighted recently, the extreme sensitivity of parity-time (PT)-symmetric CPAL devices to the input signal deviations has so far impeded their practical utilization. Here we explore a strategy for implementing CPAL circuits by exploiting another type of non-Hermitian symmetry, namely anti-PT (APT) symmetry. We demonstrate that the condition for building CPAL in our proposed APT-symmetric electronic circuits additionally requires parity symmetry, which simplifies the circuit design and implementation. Additionally, we show that this newly proposed structure is 1.85 times more robust compared to previous CPAL devices studied in the literature.

Gaze tracking can be divided into two-dimensional (2-D) gaze-estimation method and three-dimensional (3-D) gaze-estimation method. 3-D gaze-estimation method can simplify user calibration and track gaze under full free head movement. To solve the shortage of traditional 3-D gaze-estimation method, this paper proposes a 3-D eyeball optical axis (OA) reconstruction method for single-camera multi-source head-mounted system. The method directly calculates the vector of the OA from the pupil image on the basis of the corneal center, and then reconstructs the eyeball OA. The results of simulation experiments show the effectiveness of the method. © 2023 SPIE.

With the ongoing advancements in sensor networks and data acquisition technologies across various systems like manufacturing,aviation,and healthcare,the data driven vibration control(DDVC)has attracted broad interests from both the industrial and academic *** shaping(IS),as a simple and effective feedforward method,is greatly demanded in DDVC *** convolves the desired input command with impulse sequence without requiring parametric dynamics and the closed-loop system structure,thereby suppressing the residual vibration *** on a thorough investigation into the state-of-the-art DDVC methods,this survey has made the following efforts:1)Introducing the IS theory and typical input shapers;2)Categorizing recent progress of DDVC methods;3)Summarizing commonly adopted metrics for DDVC;and 4)Discussing the engineering applications and future trends of *** doing so,this study provides a systematic and comprehensive overview of existing DDVC methods from designing to optimizing perspectives,aiming at promoting future research regarding this emerging and vital issue.

The downscaling of Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET) elements in the nanoscale, leads to the deviation of V-I characteristics compared with the ideal behavior. For instance, in the elements with short channels, Drain voltage considerably impacts the potential barrier in a way that the Source injects the carriers into the channel without any Gate role. This is due to the decrease in the height of the barrier by the Drain. An appropriate alternative for the MOS technology is the Carbon Nanotube Field Effect Transistors (CNFETs). The high mobility of carriers in the CNT results in their higher speed in CNFET transistors. Low power dissipation, nano dimension, low noise figure, the similarity of performance with the MOSFETs, and the ballistic transition of the carriers are their advantages. In this paper, together with the study of CNFET's structure and models, the impact of variations of input voltage, the number of nanotubes, pitches, and chirality on the current, threshold voltage, and V-I characteristics of a common source amplifier are studied. Moreover, it is observed that in the same specifications of the aspect ratio and bias, in the CNFET transistors, the gm/ID figure according to the normalized current in the Weak Inversion and Moderate regions is higher than the MOSFETs, shows that this technology as the fair choice can be an appropriate alternative for the MOSFETs. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we address the problem of automatic clothing parsing in surveillance images using the information from user-generated tags, such as "jeans" and "T-shirt." Although clothing parsing has achieved great success in the fashion domain, it is quite challenging to parse target under practical surveillance conditions due to the presence of complex environmental interference, such as that from low resolution, viewpoint variations and lighting changes. Our method is developed to capture target information from the fashion domain and apply this information to a surveillance domain by weakly supervised transfer learning. Most target tags convey strong location information (e.g., "T-shirt" is always shown in the upper region), which can be used as weak labels for our transfer method. Both quantitative and qualitative experiments conducted on practical surveillance datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed surveillance data enhancing method. © 2020, Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature.

Nussbaum-based distributed containment control for nonlinear multi-agent systems with quantized inputs

This article explores the distributed containment control problem for uncertain nonlinear multi-agent systems subject to external disturbances and input quantization, where the constant control gains and the upper bounds of the external disturbances are unknown. First, the reference generator is constructed for each follower agent to generate the virtual tracking signal, confining to the convex hull spanned by the leaders. Meanwhile, the unmeasurable state variable of each follower is estimated by adopting the K-filters based on the available output/input signals and known system function matrices. Then, a distributed adaptive output feedback controller with only one updating parameter is designed for each follower by introducing a logarithmic quantization to quantize the control inputs under the framework of prescribed performance control. The lack of priori knowledge for the control gain and the quantization gain is counteracted effectively by employing the Nussbaum function method in the adaptive backstepping design process. It is proved that the outputs of followers can enter into the convex hull of multiple leaders and the relevant tracking errors satisfy the prescribed performance index. Finally, the validity of the proposed schemes is illustrated through simulation studies on robotic systems. © 2014 IEEE.

A 1.65 to 1.84 GHz Filtering SPDT Switch With Fully Tunable Insertion Phase Using NRN and Mixed Electromagnetic Coupling Techniques

This brief presents a novel filtering single-pole-double-throw (SPDT) switch with continuously tunable center frequency and insertion phase. It is comprised of six varactor-loaded microstrip resonators and three tunable non-resonating nodes (NRNs) at source and loads. The controllable mixed electromagnetic couplings are introduced on the two main paths of each channel of the switch. At ON-state, the designed filtering switch can generate a 4th-order bandpass filtering performance with high selectivity, and the insertion phase can be continuously tuned with a full 360° tuning range by changing the reactances of NRNs and switching the dominated modes of the mixed couplings. At OFF-state, the mixed electromagnetic couplings are set to zero, and hence high isolation can be realized. To validate the proposed technique, a circuit prototype is designed and fabricated. The measured results suggest that the designed filtering SPDT switch can operate with a tunable center frequency ranging from 1.65 GHz to 1.84 GHz, and its insertion phase at ON-state channel can be continuously tuned from -180° to 180°. During the whole tuning process, the measured in-band isolation for OFF-state channel keeps better than 40 dB. © 2023 IEEE.
