This paper deals with the active collision avoidance maneuver for the chaser along the specified trajectory, and presents a maneuver approach with constant thrust. Using the 3D stereo vision measurement, The relative position parameters of the target spacecraft for analyzing the collision possibility are obtained by using the vision measurement and the target maneuver positions are calculated through the equidistance interpolation method. The working times of thrusters in three axes can be respectively computed by the time series analysis method. In particular, the perturbation and fuel consumption are addressed during the computation of working time. Furthermore, the acceleration sequences and the corresponding working time series can be employed to determine a switching control law for the active collision avoidance maneuver. The simulation results show that the switch control law can effectively guarantee the chaser moving along the specified trajectory.

This paper addresses the problem of tracking multiple maneuvering extended targets in the framework of random finite set theory. An elliptical model is adopted for exploiting sensor measurements of target extent, and the target dynamics is described by a jump Markov linear system which combines the shape parameters into the kinematic state vector. As each extended target gives rise to unlabeled multiple measurements per time step, all the received measurements are partitioned into a number of subsets so that the measurements in each subset are expected to stem from the same source. In addition, the best-fitting Gaussian approximation approach is employed to circumvent the difficulty of multiple model mixing in the Gaussian mixture probability hypothesis density (GM-PHD) filter. A numerical example is provided to compare the performance of the proposed filter with that of the GM-PHD filter without measurement partition.

We investigated two-dimensional dopant distribution in POCl 3 -diffused n+ emitter formed on textured Si solar cells using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) combined with selective chemical etching. TEM and simulation results demonstrate that convex and concave regions of a pyramid in the textured Si surface show deeper and shallower junctions, respectively. By considering a strong dependency of phosphorus (P) diffusion on the Si interstitials, the abnormal profile of n+ emitter in the textured Si surface could be attributed to the inhomogeneous distribution of Si interstitials caused by the geometry of the pyramid texture.

This paper presents surface electromyographic (sEMG)-based, real-time Model Reference Adaptive control (MRAC) strategy for a prosthetic hand prototype. The proposed design is capable of decoding the prerecorded sEMG signal as well as the sensory force feedback from the sensors to control the force of the prosthetic hand prototype using a PIC 32MX360F512L microcontroller. The input sEMG signal is preprocessed using a Half-Gaussian filter and fed to a fusion based Multiple Input Single Output (MISO) skeletal muscle force model. This MISO system provides the estimated finger forces to be produced as input to the prosthetic hand prototype. A simple MRAC method along with a two stage embedded design is used for the force control of the prosthetic hand. The sensed force at the fingertip is fed back to the controller for real-time operation. The data is transmitted to the computer through an universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART) interface of the proposed embedded design. Results show good performance in controlling the finger force as well as shortcomings of the mechanical design of the prosthetic hand prototype to be addressed in future.

With the United States national goal and incentive program to transition from paper to electronic health records (EHRs), healthcare organizations are increasingly implementing EHRs and other related health information technology (IT). However, in institutions which have long adopted these computerized systems, such as the Veterans Health Administration, healthcare workers continue to rely on paper to complete their work. Furthermore, insufficient EHR design also results in computer-based workarounds. Using direct observation with opportunistic interviewing, we investigated the use of paper-and computer-based workarounds to the EHR with a multi-site study of 54 healthcare workers, including primary care providers, nurses, and other healthcare staff. Our analysis revealed several paper-and computer-based workarounds to the VA's EHR. These workarounds, including clinician-designed information tools, provide evidence for how to enhance the design of the EHR to better support the needs of clinicians.

This study attempts to describe the scattering analysis of the marine lavers which are placed around the coast of Yellow sea in South Korea. The data acquired by Phase Array L-band SAR (PALSAR) on board of Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) at different dates and years of an acquisition but of the same month. The laver area, consisting of buoy, bamboo and net. They show the different signal signature patterns due to variation in the metrological conditions on an image. The analysis, monitoring and detection were performed by means of the 4-component scattering analysis along with entropy (H)/alpha (a) angle plane distribution over an image. Radar cross section (RCS) of laver area shows less value as compared to the background value under the moderate wind speed condition. Morphological operation was then carried out with the use of obtained relative threshold values based on the distribution plane.

This paper considers the problem of formation control for mobile robots which are subject to input constraints. The control strategy based on virtual robot tracking is proposed, which leads to a compact controller form in terms of two feedback parameters by Lyapunov method. The introduced elliptic approximation of input constraints brings much convenience to obtain suitable feedback parameters. It is show that the presented sufficient condition guarantees the existence of feasible feedback parameters. Moreover, guidelines for the selection of feedback parameters are provided with geometric analysis. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

Despite great interest in solving RNA secondary structures due to their impact on function, it remains an open problem to determine structure from sequence. Among experimental approaches, a promising candidate is the "chemical modification strategy", which involves application of chemicals to RNA that are sensitive to structure and that result in modifications that can be assayed via sequencing technologies. One approach that can reveal paired nucleotides via chemical modification followed by sequencing is SHAPE, and it has been used in conjunction with capillary electrophoresis (SHAPE-CE) and high-throughput sequencing (SHAPE-Seq). The solution of mathematical inverse problems is needed to relate the sequence data to the modified sites, and a number of approaches have been previously suggested for SHAPE-CE, and separately for SHAPE-Seq analysis. Here we introduce a new model for inference of chemical modification experiments, whose formulation results in closed-form maximum likelihood estimates that can be easily applied to data. The model can be specialized to both SHAPE-CE and SHAPE-Seq, and therefore allows for a direct comparison of the two technologies. We then show that the extra information obtained with SHAPE-Seq but not with SHAPE-CE is valuable with respect to ML estimation.

Event Type Recognition Based on Trigger Expansion

Event extraction is an important research point in information extraction, which includes two important sub-tasks of event type recognition and event argument recognition. This paper describes a method based on automatic expansion of the event triggers for event type recognition. The event triggers are first extended through a thesaurus to enable the extraction of the candidate events and their candidate types. Then, a binary classification method is used to recognize the candidate event types. This method effectively improves the unbalanced data problem in training models and the data sparseness problem with a small corpus. Evaluations on the ACE2005 dataset give a final F-score of 61.24%, which outperforms traditional methods based on pure machine learning.

The relationship between the optical properties and microstructure of GaN is of great interest due to the important optical and electronic applications of this material. Several different studies have been reported attempting to link the low temperature photoluminescence (PL) peak at ∼3.4 eV to the presence of various microstructural defects. However, no clear systematic studies have been reported establishing such a link for the PL peak observed at ∼3.2 eV. In this paper, we present evidence linking the ∼3.4 eV PL peak to the presence of a thin layer of cubic phase associated with basal plane stacking faults (BSF). This relationship is mainly established by studying a series of ammonothermally-grown GaN bulk crystals. The existence and strength of the ∼3.4 eV peak are found to be related to the I2 type BSF (RI2=1/3<1>) observed in these samples. To investigate the relationship between the ∼3.2 eV peak and structural defects, a series of GaN epilayers grown on either SiC or sapphire (of various off-cut angles) was investigated by TEM and PL spectroscopy. Samples grown on 3.5° off-cut SiC and 5° and 9° off-cut sapphire substrates exhibit PL peaks near ∼3.2 and ∼3.4 eV, which are absent in the on-axis SiC and sapphire cases. TEM shows that the former group of samples has defect configurations consisting of prismatic stacking faults (PSFs) folding back and forth between two different {1120} planes connected by stair rod dislocations, which in turn fold onto to I1 type BSFs again with stair rod dislocations at the fault intersections. The ∼3.2 eV PL peaks are proposed to possibly arise from transitions involving the PSFs and the stair rods associated with their mutual intersections and their intersections with the BSFs. The ∼3.4 eV peak is again attributed to the thin layer of cubic phase associated with the I1 type BSF (three bilayers as opposed to four bilayers for the I2 type BSF).
