Iterative Equalization of CPM with Unitary Approximate Message Passing

Continuous phase modulation (CPM) has extensive applications in wireless communications due to its high spectral and power efficiency. However, its nonlinear characteristics pose significant challenges for detection in frequency selective fading channels. This paper proposes an iterative receiver tailored for the detection of CPM signals over frequency selective fading channels. This design leverages the factor graph framework to integrate equalization, demodulation, and decoding functions. The equalizer employs the unitary approximate message passing (UAMP) algorithm, while the unitary transformation is implemented using the fast Fourier transform (FFT) with the aid of a cyclic prefix (CP), thereby achieving low computational complexity while with high performance. For CPM demodulation and channel decoding, with belief propagation (BP), we design a message passing-based maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm, and the message exchange between the demodulator, decoder and equalizer is elaborated. With proper message passing schedules, the receiver can achieve fast convergence. Simulation results show that compared with existing turbo receivers, the proposed receiver delivers significant performance enhancement with low computational complexity. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Industrial drive systems play a critical role in modern manufacturing processes, and their reliable operation is essential for productivity. These systems often consist of multiple interconnected control units that communicate through transmission control protocols. The security of these protocols remains vulnerable to attacks if the network is compromised. In this article, the security challenges faced by industrial electrical drive system is investigated and the strategies to enhance their resilience against cyber threats are proposed. The intended drive system is realized with a 2.2 kW squirrel cage induction motor and two-level voltage source inverter controlled using the F28379D microcontroller. The microcontroller is interfaced with the computer through USB for deploying the control program, as well as to monitor and tune the drive parameters. The focus lies on the computer, which provides speed commands to the microcontroller. By implementing these strategies, an effective intrusion detection system is tailored to the unique requirements of industrial electrical drive systems, safeguarding them against service disruption attacks. © 2024 IEEE.

Wind is the primary challenge for low-speed fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles to follow a predefined flight *** cope with various wind conditions,this paper proposes a wind disturbance compensated path following control strategy where the wind disturbance estimate is incorporated with the nominal guiding vector field to provide the desired airspeed direction for the *** the control input vector for the outer-loop kinematic subsystem needs to satisfy a magnitude constraint,a scaling mechanism is introduced to tune the proportions of the compensation and nominal ***,an optimization problem is formulated to pursue a maximum wind compensation in strong winds,which can be solved analytically to yield two scaling factors.A cascaded inner-loop tracking controller is also designed to fulfill the outer-loop wind disturbance compensated guiding vector ***-fidelity simulation results under sensor noises and realistic winds demonstrate that the proposed path following algorithm is less sensitive to sensor noises,achieves promising accuracy in normal winds,and mitigates the deviation from a desired path in wild winds.

In recent years,deep learning has been the mainstream technology for fingerprint liveness detection(FLD)tasks because of its remarkable ***,recent studies have shown that these deep fake fingerprint detection(DFFD)models are not resistant to attacks by adversarial examples,which are generated by the introduction of subtle perturbations in the fingerprint image,allowing the model to make fake *** of the existing adversarial example generation methods are based on gradient optimization,which is easy to fall into local optimal,resulting in poor transferability of adversarial *** addition,the perturbation added to the blank area of the fingerprint image is easily perceived by the human eye,leading to poor visual *** response to the above challenges,this paper proposes a novel adversarial attack method based on local adaptive gradient variance for *** ridge texture area within the fingerprint image has been identified and designated as the region for perturbation ***,the images are fed into the targeted white-box model,and the gradient direction is optimized to compute gradient ***,an adaptive parameter search method is proposed using stochastic gradient ascent to explore the parameter values during adversarial example generation,aiming to maximize adversarial attack *** results on two publicly available fingerprint datasets show that ourmethod achieves higher attack transferability and robustness than existing methods,and the perturbation is harder to perceive.

Dimensionality reduction (DR) is to obtain meaningful low-dimensional representation concealed within high-dimensional data. Genetic programming (GP) has been used to achieve DR for classification because of the flexible representations and promising performance. However, one drawback of many current GP-based DR methods is the high computational demands, potentially limiting their utility in high-dimensional scenarios. To tackle this issue, this work develops a new GP algorithm to achieve DR for classification. A divide-and-conquer strategy based on feature clustering is proposed to split the original feature set into multiple small feature groups. Each tree in the multi-tree GP is used to learn one high-level feature from each feature group. The performance of the proposed method is examined on 10 classification datasets with varying difficulty. The results indicate that the new GP method achieves significantly better classification performance than commonly used feature construction and feature selection methods. More importantly, the proposed GP method uses fewer nodes but achieves better or comparable classification accuracy than the baseline multi-tree GP method. © 2024 IEEE.

Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)is a subtype of breast cancer with high mortality,and the efficacy of monotherapy for TNBC is still ***,we developed a novel combination therapy for TNBC based on a multifunctional nanohollow carbon *** intelligent material contains a superadsorbed silicon dioxide sphere,sufficient loading space,a nanoscale hole on its surface,a robust shell,and an outer bilayer,and it could load both programmed cell death protein 1/programmed cell death ligand 1(PD-1/PD-L1)small-molecule immune checkpoints and small-molecule photosensitizers with excellent loading contents,protect these small molecules during the systemic circulation,and achieve accumulation of them in tumor sites after systemic administration followed by the application of laser irradiation,thereby realizing dual attack of photodynamic therapy and immunotherapy on ***,we integrated the fasting-mimicking diet condition that can further enhance the cellular uptake efficiency of nanoparticles in tumor cells and amplify the immune responses,further enhancing the therapeutic ***,a novel combination therapy“PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint blockade+photodynamic therapy+fasting-mimicking diet”was developed with the aid of our materials,which eventually achieved a marked therapeutic effect in 4T1-tumor-bearing *** concept can also be applied to the clinical treatment of human TNBC with guiding significance in the future.

Real-Time Lightweight Convolutional Neural Network for Polyp Detection in Endoscope Images

Colorectal cancer is the most common cancer with a second mortality rate. Polyp lesion is a precursor symptom of colorectal cancer. Detection and removal of polyps can effectively reduce the mortality of patients in the early period. However, mass images will be generated during an endoscopy, which will greatly increase the workload of doctors, and long-term mechanical screening of endoscopy images will also lead to a high misdiagnosis rate. Aiming at the problem that computer-aided diagnosis models deeply depend on the computational power in the polyp detection task, we propose a lightweight model, coordinate attention-YOLOv5-Lite-Prune, based on the YOLOv5 algorithm, which is different from state-of-the-art methods proposed by the existing research that applied object detection models or their variants directly to prediction task without any lightweight processing, such as faster region-based convolutional neural networks, YOLOv3, YOLOv4, and single shot multibox detector. The innovations of our model are as follows: First, the lightweight EfficientNetLite network is introduced as the new feature extraction network. Second, the depthwise separable convolution and its improved modules with different attention mechanisms are used to replace the standard convolution in the detection head structure. Then, the α-intersection over union loss function is applied to improve the precision and convergence speed of the model. Finally, the model size is compressed with a pruning algorithm. Our model effectively reduces parameter amount and computational complexity without significant accuracy loss. Therefore, the model can be successfully deployed on the embedded deep learning platform, and detect polyps with a speed above 30 frames per second, which means the model gets rid of the limitation that deep learning models must rely on high-performance servers. © Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2023.

The public release of ChatGPT represents a significant milestone in generative AI technology, enabling the autonomous generation of content based on pre-training. This breakthrough presents new opportunities for advancements in the field of portfolio selection. This paper aims to introduce a comprehensive portfolio selection method by applying ChatGPT for stock selection and combining it with optimization algorithms to jointly optimize portfolio selection. Compared to randomly selected stocks, the portfolios optimized using ChatGPT-selected stocks and solved with the egret swarm optimization algorithm (ESOA) demonstrate higher diversification and lower volatility, leading to superior portfolio optimization results. Additionally, to validate ESOA’s superiority, its performance is compared against genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) on five metrics: risk, expected return, Sharpe ratio, objective value, and penalty term. Under equivalent experimental setting, ESOA exhibits a better ability to balance the relationship between risk and return. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.
